So you want to record a slow motion video to make it look epic, cinematic or maybe romantic and you want to underline it, lets be honest everything looks cool when you slow it down :)

As i said its all about frames per second ( FPS) So what is it ? Your video consists of a number of photos that make a video when joined together. So when you record something in 24 or 30 fps , your camera within a single second takes 24 or 30 photos per second. The same thing happens when you record in a high frame rate, so when you select 60 or 120 or even 240 fps then your camera takes a following number of photos within a single second.
So in order to have a slow motion video you need to record it in a high frame rate such as 60, 120 or 240 fps. Then you have enough photos to simply slow it down, the idea is that you stretch it make it longer because you have enough material to work with.
Its impossible to slow down a 24 fps video cause it gonna look jittery and there will be visible gaps when playing the video.
Its best to record a slow motion video in a broad daylight when there is a lot of light because you camera gonna need enough light for every single frame so its not a good idea to record slow motion at night or in lowlight unless you can provide enough light.
Most of the time i record my videos in 4k60 or 2.7k 120fps because i want to have good quality, in my videos. Unfortunately you have to lower down your resolution when you want to record in higher framerates, its a technological problem that requires a lot of hard work from that tiny little camera so to makes things easier we have to lower it down.

In this particular.video i used Davinci Resolve :) its a free software but the learning curve is a bit high

Sure just remember that in order to have a slowmo video you need to slow the video down to a desired fps in your programme i didnt show it in the video cause there are so.many programmes to choose from but the idea is the same in all of them

I have a question. What happen when my video is film with go pro 10 at 4k 30pfs and when is transfer to edit at 1080x 30 pfs??? I always have that concern thanks
Nothing bad happens , if you go lower on resolution while.editing itts easier to edit , u cam always render it at a higher resolution at the end and u gonna be fine

It doesn’t happen automatically. U always have to edit it in some kind of software such as GoPro Quik , premiere pro , davinci resolve , CapCut etc, in GoPro camera u can only preview to see how that slow motion video looks down when slowed down

When it comes to editing videos recorded in different fps and resolution, how does that work exactly? If I drop it all in the media library, will it keep that resolution and fps?
When I imported a 1080p at 120fps video file on iMovie, I still get motion blur...
First you need to set your timeline fps let it be 2r or 30 fps then when you import your files whatever is higher fps will not be displayed in slow motion so you need to slow it down i will prepare a movie about it in the future shpwing how i do it in davinci resolve cause i use it
When i set my go pro 9 in slow motion mode and record after that i try to watch the video in my pc and its not slow motion. I have to put it in adobe and slow the speed from there to see that? Its not ready to watch it?
Yes its exactly what needs to be done , in your software you need to slow down your fps , for example from 60 fps you need to make it play as 30 fps to have a slow motipn effect

How do you put a 60fps video on a 24fps timeline and do the speed ramping/changes?
For example, 60 divided by 24 is 2.5. When I try this, the video is not smooth because there is the .5 of a frame trying to fit in the timeline.
It ends up creating a choppy timeline.
What am I missing?
Also, a video showing how you edit the timeline would be helpful. I’d like to see how you go from regular speed to slow motion and back to regular speed all from the same clip.

Even if you record it in 120 or 240 fps when you estch it in computer or tv it fonna be olayed in real time thats why you have to edit your slowmo video in software , you slow it down and save it , i think i will make a video about it exolaining the process :)
