Hope to get a color phase yote some day. Had one come out on me the other night that looked kinda like a color phase, but I’m thinking it was just black and the lights added lighter colors to it.
Rory-Not Gail: I've never seen anything other than the typical brownish/red coyote in East Central Illinois, other than one silver one I shot. Up here., I probably wouldn't shoot a color phase or blackie for fear it was a dog. And then, I woulda missed a great opportunity. There's a stretch of I 64 in KY between IL and the TN border that is always strewn with roadkill deer...and roadkill coyotes. It's obviously a highly-populated area for both species. I've killed plenty of yotes but never a color phase or blackie. Nice job.
Love to know how long you played that rabbit before this yote came in. One of the things I haven't yet figured out is how long to play each sound in general. Vocals seem to be the only thing I have success with in the North East.
We played 2 different rabbit sounds on that stand. Ran Cagie Cottontail for about 6 minutes. Paused for 45 seconds and then went into Mrs. McCottontail. Coyote showed up just a couple minutes later.
Called two groups of three the other day to that cagey cottontail sound. First bunch came in 21min into calling. Next stand same sound 4minutes on call timer & it was all done. I blew it both times. Some days are like that but the caller did it’s job like always!! FoxPro 6 - Art 0 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Yes they are as those aren’t naturally occurring genetic populations like wolves. I’m it’s a rarity to see at all in my part of So-Cal to Central Cal. Usually hunters in my area have confirmed your assumption that it’s a CoyDog
I killed a black coyote in southeastern Tennessee several years back the one you killed is only the 2nd one that i had ever seen, the one i killed was pretty much exact with a white chest it was a nice mature male yote he was leading a smaller female along a deer trail that i was hunting they were moving through the woods faster than i could get a bead on him the female stopped on the trail when she did he noticed that she had stopped causing him to stop so that gave me a chance to pop him with a .50 cal muzzleloader, the female was stunned and didn't know where to go so she turned right towards my ladder stand since i had dispensed my .50 caliber I reached for my .45 on my hip when i turned sideways reaching for my pistol the female saw me move and left the country quick I started to skin the male but he was rank where he had been eating gut piles. I showed the pictures to a TWRA officer he said that it was a rare gene that comes out in them now and then that is a great memory.
At least around here in Oregon, I'd have been afraid to shoot that Coyote for fear it was a Wolf. Don't think I've ever seen one around here with that coloring. In general, how does the fur buyer look at those? Are they more or less desirable/valuable?
Most do it for fun and trophies. 🤷♀️ There are contests, prizes. Some sell the fur. Often they are killed to "control" populations around ranches and urban areas.
Absolutely the most beautiful pair of yotes I've ever seen !!!!! Congrats
We agree! Thanks, John!

Awesome!
That is beautiful coyote!! Do you get more money for those color phase coyotes?
Thanks! The black one is valuable, but the color phase coyote isn’t.
How much do you like the x24 over the shockwave ?
Both are great units! The X24 is louder and has 24 bit audio output.
What cartridge and bullet are you using out of curiosity?
22 Creedmoor and 80 grain Hornady ELD’s.
Excellent!
Yes sir very nice 👍🏻
Does that color phase pelt bring some added value or none at all?
It can with taxidermist, but fur buyers don’t give much for them. The black coyotes are valuable. Thanks for watching!
The previous stand, that you said you messed up, I swear I heard the "Death Clap" on your second shot. Did you get one?
No, Ol' Jon Boy missed both shots. Haha!
Special color coyotes valuable for hair jigs for fishing
👍👍👍👍👍🐺👏👏👏👏👏!!! Coyote black 👍👍👍👍!!! Calibre ? Yards ?🤗🤗
Awesome 👊🏻
Thanks! 👊🏻

Hang in there, Art! Good luck!
I'd definitely get both of them full bodied mounted.
What volume setting are you using
What type of call are you using
FOXPRO X24 on the first stand. FOXPRO X2S on the second stand.
@@FOXPROINC thanks for the info
I need a coyote fur belt, or coyote fur to make a belt. Where can I get it?
How long do you leave the call on for?
Whacked a wolf in Mexico 3yrs ago that had that color phase , but i’ve never seen a yote here in the western states with that dark of a coat … 😯
재미있게 봤습니다~~
YESYESYES!!!!!
Thanks!!!
Caliber?
Could that be someone’s German Shepard lol!😂🤣😂 another good hunt jon, keep up the good work
Get out of here. Haha! Thanks, bud.
👍👍
Now them some pretty (dead) yotes!!!
That’s right!
Where was your suppressed rifle on coyote # 1? LOL
Haha! My ears are still ringing from shooting that coyote without a suppressor.
@@FOXPROINC I catch that stuff, Awesome videos!
@@R22VAUGHT We appreciate it! Thanks!!!
Interesting color morphs . . . I wonder if domestic dog genes are loose in the regional coyote population - coydog? Entertaining video!
Yes they are as those aren’t naturally occurring genetic populations like wolves.
I’m it’s a rarity to see at all in my part of So-Cal to Central Cal. Usually hunters in my area have confirmed your assumption that it’s a CoyDog
No supressor on the first one??? Weird!
My ears are still ringing. 😂

I showed the pictures to a TWRA officer he said that it was a rare gene that comes out in them now and then that is a great memory.
Very cool! Congratulations.
Hi Jon, great video as usual. This coyote looks like they are hybrids with dogs! Or can they be so dark?
regards from Switzerland
They’re coyotes. There’s a few different color phases of coyotes. Mostly in the eastern part of the US. Thanks for watching, Franz!
All Eastern coyotes are 3 way hybrids (coyote/dog/wolf) to some degree. They're coloring depends on the parents dominant genes.
At least around here in Oregon, I'd have been afraid to shoot that Coyote for fear it was a Wolf. Don't think I've ever seen one around here with that coloring.
In general, how does the fur buyer look at those? Are they more or less desirable/valuable?
The solid black ones are valuable. Usually don’t see this color until you get in the Midwest and East.
I do coyote call pp hi there coyote call
Heck I would have thought it was a house dog.
Can someone help me understand whats going on here? I don't understand why a cayote is being hunted.
Most do it for fun and trophies. 🤷♀️ There are contests, prizes. Some sell the fur. Often they are killed to "control" populations around ranches and urban areas.
Are you going to eat that?
Yeah. Would you like to try some?
You should upload also video content for cooking or grilling
Coy dog?
All Eastern coyotes are 3 way hybrids (coyote/dog/wolf) to some degree. The combination of dominant genes of the parents determine color.
What’s the point of killing animals.
the black coyote is a bad jue jue , beleived to be evil .
