Great list!!!! Love most of them! Onitama is chess’ most intense points concentrated!

Totally agree on Onitama! Tsuro I like too, but I struggle with Santorini, I don’t think I look forward as well as I need to for that game 😎

Great list of abstract strategy games. I think Kamisado gets overlooked a bit. Targi and Seikatsu could make my list too.
    Thanks for the video!

I enjoy Yinsh, for two players.

Yinsh is next level! Almost chess strategy.

Great list. Your top three might be mine as well. The one missing that I would put high on my list is Hanamikoji.

I never quite think of it as abstract strategy but a great game!

It's still a rather recent game, but I've been enjoying Codex Naturalis lately. A simple rule set, lovely cards, luck with strategy, and plays quickly enough not to drag on. And it all comes in a small metal tin.

Mandala, Tsuro Azul (base version) and Onitama - i have all in my collection - My fav is Mandala. Super quick and great tactical game. Onitama is great game taking chess to a next level, Tsuro is great abstract gateway game. U can also evaluate and consider Hexpert also… its a great game

Thanks for the video! Blokus would have a prominent place on my list (though only for exactly 2 or 4 players... I'd like to get Blokus Trigon for 3p play). Tsuro vs Tsuro of the Seas (I've not played Phoenix, have you?), if base I prefer Tsuro, but with the Veterans of the Sea I prefer Tsuro of the Seas! Otherwise, also like Tiny Towns, Reef, Qwirkle, Sagrada and Azul Summer Pavilion (I also prefer it over original, though both have a place in our collection... have not tried Stain Glass of Sintra). I feel more drawn to Mandala Stones than Mandala, but haven't played either (have you tried Mandala Stones?).

Really enjoyed this! A fun and interesting list. Oliver's easy going demeanor is really quite engaging. Maybe its the accent but, i feel like i could listen to him explain games for hours. He has one of the most pleasant teaching voices ive ever heard. Thank You Oliver!

Great list Oliver as aspected. For me Yinsh and War Chest might on on Top of my list. Also Duke, Mandala, Calico and Targi would come close.... and yes I like Azul quite a bit as well (Summer Pavilion is my favorite).

One abstract that doesn't seem to get enough love in my opinion is Tash-Kalar: Arena of Legends. I guess the gerneric theme of Duel Wizards could be a put off, but this one is so different than the usual. Worth a look! Plus its available on Board Game Aena so easy to check out.

I think Tsuro is non-negotiably abstract.
