Lots of great choices! I love Lords of Waterdeep & can't wait to try Buru. Having lived in Indonesia for 12+ years, the theme grabbed me & the game play I saw online sold it! Great video!

As I've been watching more of this channel, Ryan and Bethany are becoming my favorite contributors. Worker placement isn't my go-to mechanism, but I really enjoy Dungeon Petz and Architects of the West Kingdom (over Paladins). Lords of Waterdeep sounds interesting, and I need to play Raiders of the North Sea.

Aw, thanks! Sorry it took so long to respond, we didn’t know they had segmented this into it’s own video until now!

Kanban Ev, Yes please. I would add to my list Anachrony, A bit heavier but oh so good and Architects of the West Kingdom with the rounding up of other workers.

Galaxy Hunters is not only my favorite WP game but one of my absolute favorite games of all. But it doesn't fit their definition, as simply placing a worker does not make that space more difficult for others to use. Spaces are never completely blocked, so resources are freely available, but character upgrades (used to gain VP and paid for with resources) are limited.

Very rare to hear people about Legacy: The testament of Duke de Crecy! Quite underrated imo. :)

Yes indeed, but... It should.. 1) take less table space, or 2) be more "gamers" game, you don't seem to do much different staff from game to game.

I really like y'all as people and reviewers but the video would be immensely improved by showing screenshots of the games in action imo, hard for me to get into a recommendation by box art and words alone

oh so Dice placement would fit Worker placement? like Thanos rising or Space base would be worker placement?

@@greytoeimp yes, I bnever considered Kingsburg as worker placement, more resource management, so it would open other games where you place dice in the category

I don't think Space Base would count for worker placement because there's no "actions spaces" to place your dice on in that game. Worker placement games tend to have shared action spaces that are blocked when used. Of course, there are so many takes on this, but Space Base is more of a Bingo game than a worker placement game.

A subcategory of worker placement is dice worker placement like Kingsburg. Dice placement (like Sagrada) is not the same as dice worker placement. And Space Base is none of the above, you don't place your dice. It's just dice rolling with tableau building.
In Kingsburg, you have workers (dice) that you place on a board to trigger an action and once you have placed it you block that board spot for other players. And getting/converting resources is the main action available on the board, like most other worker placement games.

Dune: Imperium is my new favorite worker placement game.

Where is Everdell? There is a reason BGG has it currently at #28 Overall of all games ever right now. Yes. It is that good. Heck, I haven't even won yet out of the dozen times I've played it already and still think it is the best worker placement I've played so far.

Two top 10 lists of Worker Placement, and yet Champions of Midgard and Vititulture are on neither of them???
This video has earned a disapproving side-eye from me. 😅

Kingsburg surely isn't worker placement. But Dice Placement and Worker Placement seems used interchangeably these days. Zee Garcia also had Kingsburg on his Top 10 Worker Placement games, in february. (this: ua-cam.com/video/tnUi7rDfjJM/v-deo.html).
It's too bad, really. Viticulture (as an example) and Kingsburg are different enough mechanically, that they shouldn't be categorized together. In my opinion.

Kingsburg is definitely worker placement. It's part of dice worker placement, a subcategory of worker placement. You do all the same actions as in a typical worker placement game. You place your workers (dice) on the board, claim the action from that spot (getting/converting resources) and this blocks other players from going to the same spot.
Dice placement (Sagrada) and dice worker placement are completely different. Kingsburg is way more worker placement than dice placement like Sagrada.

I'm with @Olivier Jodoin on this one. Dice placement is just subgenre of worker placement. Whatever axiom you use to categorize board games you'll have some extremes, this is the way it is ;). You can't be too attached to names... Do workers are needed to worker placement? :) what with warriors, free people, aliens,..., cards, figures, dice, etc... just joshing :-P

Thank you both for replying. I stand corrected. "Worker Placement with Dice Workers" is indeed it's own category, on bgg. Actually two of my favorite games are at the top of that list: Kingsburg and Alien Frontiers. .:)
Still, I can't help but feel a little off, putting those games into the same category as Champions, Lords or Viticulture. To me, those as worker placement. Alien Frontiers feels more like dice manipulation and dice placement. Ah, I ramble, let me get out of here. Thanks again!
