You should try out a Wusthoff classic ikon or a Shun classic 8" chef knife, they cost the same as Cutco, and Shun does free life time sharpening as well. I own both and they are great knives. They look a lot nicer than the cutco as well.
I own several brands and yes some look nicer and come sharp, but nothing beats the cutco guarantee. My grandma gave me these and she had them for 40 years
