My parents married in 1955 and a set of cutco knives and utensils was a gift. I was born in 1957 and I am still using the same knives. They have never been sent to the factory for sharpening and they remain sharp to this day. THESE ARE THE BEST KNIVES ON THE MARKET!!

The ignorance of the commenter is hilarious. 440A steel is what one would expect to find in the “quality,”. dollar store China-knives nearly world-wide.
Objectively speaking, the only quality one could even begin to compliment, if you don’t appreciate patina, is due to the exceedingly, unnecessarily over-elevated, levels of Cr, which make the blade virtually impossible to rush. Yea, such “quality!” LMFAO

I like using the 7" Santoku because its sharp blade is long enough to slice through the length of a large potato. When dicing remember to try to cut pieces to uniform sizes so they cook evenly. A medium dice, for example, is generally 1/2" x 1/2" x 1/2".

I have a couple Cutco knives. They are good for what they are, but given the 440A steel blades, they are overpriced. You can buy high end brands with better steel like Wusthof, Henckels, Shun, Global, MAC etc for roughly the same prices. Cutco knives are actually mid-range knife which should be in the $40 - $50 range. The Cutco shears are some of the best though. I have a pair and they are good quality, but expensive.

@@Autobotsunited I like made in the USA, but Cutco is overpriced by comparison. Not to mention that there are other places in the industrialized world where quality cutlery is made. Cutco needs to get with the times and start offering their knives with better steel options than just 440A. Then they wouldn't need to push the pyramid style marketing scheme cause their knives would sell without it. Maybe the price would then be justified. The knife designs are not bad, but they could use better types of steel in them.

EXACTLY, what moat people don’t understand is CHEAP STEEL, MACHINE CUT/PRESSED BLANKS, and MACHINES WHEEL GROUND BEVELS, all is the combination that makes Cutco knives DISGUSTINGLY OVERPRICED for the CRAP THEY ARE!
It’s EASY to guarantee a CRAP KNIFE, when ignorant customers are already overpaying - paying A5 Wagyu prices for a McDonalds hamburger. They can give you a free burgers, even a lifetimes supply, when you, and so many others are overpaying for this CRAP!

The cool thing about Cutco is that it doesn’t need to be sharpened like every other knife. Our special DD edge is manufactured to last 5-10 years without being sharpened. Plus, the DD can be factory re-sharpened whereas a honing rod would destroy the knife. As someone in the company for over 2 years I’ve seen what a honing rod can do to these special blades lol.
