Wow, when you switched to the new microphone, it sounded way better to me. Your voice sounded a lot more airy and crisp. Less boomy.
Oh wait hang on. When you switched back to the other one, the exact same happened but the other way round!! I'm confused now
😂😂they are close almost a matter of preference
Watching in the studio environment, I can say new mic sounds much better.
In my oppinion much more pleasant than the old mic.
Just has a bit different shape of the high freqs.
your video quality since you got back to Sony is incredible, especially the video in studio. CRISP
Thanks.
Great review. I really like this mic. Particularly for its small size, quality sound, versatile controls, and one thing you didn't mention, it connects to the Sony camera without a cable.
Thank you so much for this video. As for me this microphone sound very good with your voice . Have a beautiful day 😊
Totaly agree in everything you said.
Videographer. Perfect comments.
Thank you very much for the video. I didn't like the rattle sounds that produce when moving (may be when move it smooth it could be avoided ? Did you test in digital, or analog mode ?
Definitely added more presence and clarity to your voice. Liked it.
the best review of the mic (tip put the model nr. for keyword reasons) 👍
All these YT "Filmmakers" have absolutely know idea about quality audio and barely talk about these settings
Great microphone from what I heard..It does everything it has to do. It's magical. You hear the rumble as well when you shake it. How much does it cost?
Good video!
I've been using 2 of those Ashton mics you have with a Sound Devices MixPre 6 II.
But I couldn't help myself and bought that Sony mic also... I do wish it would at least record 32 Bit to justify its price...
Very clear, tight signal with the Sony mic. NC works pretty well too. Could you give the brand and model of the LD condenser mic you showed alongside the Shure SM7?
Probably the best review I've seen so far. I wonder how it picks up a live acoustical instrument like a guitar.
A/B comparison I preferred the old. The new cuts out some fo the "air" and sondes compressed. A quick video using the new outside "on the go" would be a good addendum for the review.
i have it and with a longer hair deadcat against wind i love it.
those ambient sound on spotify are crazy there is even dishwasher and vacuum sound
the new sound is better, your voice is not that much bloomy as it was on the old mic and it so very pleasing! Keep it up
Wow, bought a Rode mic for
My Sony but this one is so small and much better then your previous mic.
Thank you very much for your tests and views.
Who is it made for? People like you? Vloggers, of course, but maybe also for those who shoot family, land, - sea, - and cityscapes, camping, fishing, weddings, wildlife +++? Interviews?
I will buy it for my Sony FDR-AX43 4K camcorder. Maybe it also will do a good job on my Canon DSLR ..? (EOS 5Ds R), when I sometimes use that (with special lenses)?
An Omni camera mic would be great for recording videos in my studio! I want one!
Such a nice microphone
the mic lacks a little low end and a bit of a boost on the high end otherwise its good it think! Love your videos dude keep it up bro !
Hey Jon! Great video! Very informative! I think the mic is decent but I do not think it's worth the price. Its almost as expensive (in the US) as the Shure SM7B. I think it's an ok mic but it doesn't make me want to immediately purchase one. I do think that Sony is headed in the right direction but it's definitely NOT there yet. especially because the best mics that give the best bang for the buck are metal. But I wouldn't purchase this first generation of the mic. You're right, it is interesting but I would say that right now, the Townsend Labs mic is insanely versatile! you should totally purchase one to check it out. Thanks for making this video! As always I was not disapointed.
It would be interesting to hear what it sounds like when your outside your studio and test all the features on it.
You’ll here it in the coming days.
@@Jonsine fantastic 👍🏾
Interesting mic. Obviously using some kind of DSP technology. The rattling and build quality make it no go for "run and gun" applications.
Yeah it’s strange they made it this way.
With all of the money that you spend on gear, I suggest you get a Microphone at least in the $800-$1000 range.
A few months ago I purchased the Telefunken TF 11, and the rest of their TF series are amazing!
This mic can work on Sony ZV1 please reply
The noise canceling seems to be pretty good!
Jon, think you could update the links in the description to match your latest set up? For example, the microphone link still redirects to your old mic.
I will. It’s on my to do list.
Oh Dear Lord He's buying more shit 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 This Guy has some serious Gear Addiction
Interesting ...
welche Synthie benutzt du für den Bass
i have the same mic and i have a question - do you know what is the use of the microusb port given on the side of the microphone ???
Don’t know for sure but maybe for updates and service.
I like the clarity sound more on the Sony. More smoother and little sharper i find. It's like quarter wax in my ears for hearing. Syringe the ears is Sony lol. But not too much differences lol I can tell easy though.
try the kii's again in your new room . or ATC's ;D
On the old one its a bit boomy, you have a deep component to your voice that is low nasal type and the old mic kind of makes it worse, on the new one however your voice sounds clearer and more pleasing
Actually its a little bit harsh on the top end. At least on my headphones (audio Technica ath m50)
Bro the amount of gear you buy would give the whole of Africa food and water for 10 years lmao
We have better food than you, maybe give europe and america some organic food
Ufff
1:00 when you spend loads of money and time on LEDs but keep it on white cos it's the most pleasing! Love it.
For the camera yes but when you are in the room the lights are amazing 🤩
@@Jonsine Haha - I am just kidding. I also have some philips hue bulbs for the RGB goodness - although nothing as fancy as yours!
nice
when he put it to the side of the camera I felt like in a bathroom at a party 🥺
Does it have audio out? Can I record a vocal straight to my DAW without using a camera?
No it’s purely a camera mic I was just interested in the technology let’s see if others adapt.
ECM stands for Electret Condenser Microphones. B1M might be Broadcast 1 Mic
new intro song?
Men i have an idea XD save for this and than buy rode wireless go and I can record audio of 3 people (operator - me probably lol) and 2 people away from me in action
what about www.soundfield.com/#/products ? These are products for a whole other level of recording, but they are quite old. There's lots of things which can be done with lots of microphones, or lots of cameras for example. Remember "Bullet Time" ?
Better, more natural with the new Sony Mic
Noise-canceling and all is good but that rumble is unacceptable cause you're constantly on the go with the clamera setup
On the studio the voice looses body whith the Sony . sounds a bit cheap .
watched your review of the Sony B1M. i enjoyed your review and am going to check out your other videos, but...
- loved your studio. but the B1M is not a studio mic.
- looked at your equipment list. canon camera? this is a mic designed for the Sony cameras with a multi interface shoe. the d/a processing is done in mic and passed digitally to the camera. I assume you're using the analog output and passing it to your Canon. this negates the best feature of this mic.
how do your Sony lenses work on your canon?
- no battery and no cables. you hold up your normal mic and say "see, never a problem with the cables." please talk to someone who has used a mic with batteries and cables in the field . ask if they carry an extra cable and why. look at camera and look for damage at the side.
- ask them if they carry extra batteries for the mic and why.
- have you actually used the auto setting in the field on a camera that is designed for this mic? I use Mix Pre recorders in the field, but am bloody well impressed with the in camera track with this mic. up until now, camera tracks only good for synching.
- yes, you can shake the camera and get noise from the mic body maxing out against the mic. how's the video when you do this? if you do this in real life, you aren't going to last as an assistant.
- would I take a royer 121 ribbon mic down to the ocean to get wind and surf sounds at the water's edge? yup, and kiss $1300 dollars goodbye. would I take the B1M on camera along with the MixPre and mics back a ways? have done. got paid.
- do I love the royer 121? better than my girlfriend's cat. no, not a good analogy. less than GF, hundreds of times better than cat. all these things are tools. being an artist is learning when, where, and how to use our tools to create beauty. the b1m has a place, not on a canon camera, not in a studio, not recording white noise from an iphone. out in the real world.
i prefer the sound of the cheaper one
What’s crazy is someone is making mad Spotify $ off that white noise album lol. Reminds me of the person that uploaded a fully “silent” album and told his fans to play it while they went to sleep and made a few hundred $ before Spotify took it down
Vulfpeck 🙏😂

new one is way better, a lot cleaner sound
You should frame up around the wall monitors so it doesn't look half assed. Get creative!
I will replace the entire front wall finish. Once I can go to a diy store again or order stuff
Ich mag das alte mehr, aber das Sony ist halt rauschärmer
pity it was not tested outside with ther wind blowing across it. This video therefore was a failed genuine test under all conditions
hmmmm, sounds not to bad. but its not worth the extra money, sorry.
