I'm so happy you're taking piano lessons! :) My mom taught me how to play at a young age, so I was lucky. It always makes me happy to see other people learn the instrument.
If your cable breaks or malfunctions in the future you can use it as a pull wire to fish another one (depending on the route you took). You’d just wrap the bad one around the new one, connect them really well with electrical tape, and pull from one side to the other.
7:20 UUuuuu If you know you have that problem I recomend you to get another madi cable in there that is not conected, so if you have trouble and you are in a hurry you can just plug it in and keep working and then replace it when yo u have time
Great to hear that you are taking piano lessons. I can tell you that it will benefit you a lot when you produce music. Besides this, it’s also very fun to improvise on the piano to quickly come up with new ideas for music production. I’m a skilled piano player for a very long time so I know what I’m talking about. Good luck with the lessons and practice as many days and hours as you can. In the first couple months you will make progression very fast and within a couple years you’ll be able to perform with a piano only for public and are even capable to play in a band with other musicians. Piano 🎹 for life!!
Don't be to hard on yourself Jon. You have accomplished a ton in one year with the studio and your UA-cam channel. Get some good rest and come back with a fresh mind the next day
It still amazes me you are fascinated with analog synthesis. A lot of us have been analog for a long time. If you think the Korg Matriarch is interesting to program, try using an Alesis Andromeda A6 synth with 16 voices of Analog, VCOs, VCFs, tons of routing options, mixing VCO wave shapes, two different filters. I could go on for a while.
good on you Jon, I was taught piano as a boy and to really helps with composition. Many people of your age don't bother, it will improve your understanding of melody much better. Simon Barton Chapple.
Wow, very clean cabling! It's the opposite of my homestudio: my room is very small and I'm also using it to work from home because of the pandemic, so I can't afford to tear everything apart to work on cable management right now (actually the pandemic made the cabling even worse than it was, because I had to add new network and video cables for the office laptop without a chance of reorganizing the cabling first). I like your idea of moving a converter to the synth desk instead of running a lot of analog audio cables to the main desk; I'll keep in mind when/if I'll buy a madi converter that I don't need to place it next to the soundcard but I can move it if it makes my cable management easier/cleaner.
Looks really nice, that table, but won't the audio interface get too hot sandwiched between two pieces of wood? For my RME Fireface I always leave at least 1U of rack space above and below, to ensure adequate air flow.
studio is taking shape nicely, gets more awesome every day. kudos! one minor gripe i would personally have with the current setup would be not haviong the synths in the back of the table elevated a little. very impractical to play. other than that - most excellent!
Piano lessons is good. I can totally respect that. 🙂👍 I'd like to have lessons in piano and composition. - Still waiting for an update on the Apple M1. That this little thing is the engine for all your productions, that's big.
Forgot something in my post: If you have a Moog, you need a Talk Box (Zapp & Roger). 😀 thomann has one, called "Harley Benton Talk Box". You need it. 😎
MADI is so yesterday, now there is a new cable choice called Thunderbolt 3 and even Thunderbolt 4 is coming out or is out I guess. MADI has stood the test of time and is a great protocol. I actually moved on from MADI. I have MADI cables lying around unused now.
@@Jonsine Very True. I have 2 2 meter cables in my Thunderbolt chain. Also some shorter cables too. When I switched from MADI to TB3 I was concerned about not reaching my devices. I just made it distance wise. As they say in the USA, 2 feet apart for social distancing. But in Europe it is 2 meters for social distancing. So people in Europe must be safer due to you being a little bit farther apart.
seems there is more in the air then just covid, been battling a cable management last 2 days myself, just looking at it makes me wanna just leave and get back to just a laptop and a midi keyb.,just plain decadent horror
@@Jonsine Disgusting in the best way. I kinda hate the color scheme on the originals even though I drool at the thought of either a Grandmother or Matriarch.
Soooo happy for your piano lessons!
It will help you a lot, i am sure
Learning to play the keys is probably your best studio upgrade to date!
Proud of you Jon
Thank you
You need keyboard stands/wall rack
Thanks for sharing this cool journey of yours, with us.

What the fuck! That synthesizer station looks amazing! Pretty dope! Nice done!
Your vlogs are becoming increasingly interesting and are educational.
Thanks.

Thanks. Yes makes a lot of sense. Hope you’ll have soon time to sort your cables.

There is no wood on the bottom. Only the first cm has a piece to make it look like there is wood but all 4 units are open to the floor
This video literally couldn’t have come at a better time because I’m working on rewriring my whole studio today haha
Enjoy. Nice cables boost the music making process
99% vlog, 1% cable management. thanks bro...

Probably shoulda went with standing keyboard/rack stands coz gon run outta space pretty quick
They will be added soon
Looks great, everything is coming together.
Unrelated to music but look into Finasteride or alike, the sooner you act the more you can save your hair.
Yeah Madi is fiber optic I’m pretty sure so it’s made of glass on the inside
get a 3 head tape deck with a varispeed and use it as a tape echo :)
Yes I will

Great job Jon! now invest in some microfiber cloths to get rid of all the dust ;-)
I got plenty. Will use them once I’m done constructing

Thunderbolt is useless if the cable is longer than 2m
