- Game of Thrones Season 8 is going to be absolutely nuts, and I'm in the process of trying to figure out how it could down! Today we are going to continue our dream series and this Dream theory could reveal what is hidden in the crypts of Winterfell. The Crypts of Winterfell are very important and no doubt there are secrets in the crypts of winterfell, but what are those secrets!?!!? The Crypts are magical and legend says they were built by Bran the Builder with the help of the children of the forrest, he built Winterfell to be the Strong hold for his descendants after the long night, BUT WHY??? What is the magic that is hidden in the secret crypts of Winterfell? Why does Jon dream of it so much? As far as we know it's just a crypt that hold the remains of the Stark Kings the Kings of Winter.. But what if the Kings of Winter could rise? In this video I will go over Jon's Dream, Theon's Dream, The Crypts of Winterfell and some of George RR Martin's influences to try to figure out just what is going on! “The way is shut. It was made by those who are dead.. and the dead keep it. The way is shut” -JRR Tolkien
Love you Gray. Great video.
Richard Hough love u too!!! Thanks for watching!
How cool would it be to see all those dead kings come out and kick white walker a**? I'd love to see the Night Kinds face. Haha. Like oooooohhhhhh sh*t.
GrayArea Aragorn was just a man. Magic was dying and tainted. To me, as a " fan" of all three author's who nailed this Tolkien genre, Robert Jordans character, Rand All Thor, and his two taverien companies in The Wheel of Time, fit closer to the Game of Thrones. Mainly because magic is being healed and reborn.
In other words, I personally see more resemblance in G.O.T. and W.O.T. than they both have with L.O.T.R. even though they all exist in Tolkien's universe. In fiction theory anyway. Three different time periods, same fantastical, multi dimensional universe. Maybe those other parallels are worth looking into as well. It's a long winter after all😉. Love the videos. I love decodes. Great work. Thanks. Peace.
Yup, totally, and it might also be the reason why GRRM lost interest in writing the new books, due to the recent movie block busters based on Tolkien..... Perhaps, if those movies were never made, GRRM might seem more original. Or maybe thats just GRRM's fear, or hesitation, in completing his work. The books that are already written can not be changed, and they lead down the path you describe in the video.
Melisandre said, in The North Remembers episode, “the cold breath of winter shall blow and freeze over the seas then the dead will rise in the north.” I believe this means that the horn of winter will wake the “Kings of Winter” and freeze over the Narrow Sea connecting Westeros and Essos.
I don't like the idea of the horn, I'd rather just see it as an automatic defence that will suprise even the defenders of winterfell.
Kool. Cant wait
Or it makes it easier for those w.w. to continue their march onward South. Where will that Army endup I wonder.
Dothrakis would be foolish enough to ride over the ice 😅
Nice video. In my opinion, I agree that the dead kings will wake but they won't really be the ones to defeat the Night King's army. I think they will be able to slow them down giving Jon and the rest time to escape or assist in some way. From the show's perspective, I don't think it will be good if the dead will defeat their fellow dead. I believe it's best if the living will beat the dead because they have always been showing us that this war is living vs dead and not dead vs dead.
I love when you read, your voice is soothing and helps me calm down
The only problem I have with the Kings of Winter rising is its not an original thought. Yes GRRM uses our History to write his story but to take JRR Tolkens idea doesn't sit well with me.
I think there is another idea we just haven't thought of. But then again like Jon I know nothing
Grayarea you are totally right about the kings of winter coming back
I love love your theories grey❤️ I agree 1000%. Even if it can't be real or true. It should be. Because it's dope as hell!! Keep up the great video s❤️❤️
Great Content Sweet Honey mama....I think Jons dreams in the books are hinting 3 things ..[a]his parentage..Jon dreaming about the Crypts ...where is Lyanna ..could hinting that he in the books will find his parentage revealed there[in the show probably will be Bran and Sam revealing to him that]...by a letter who is hidden to Lyannas tomb somehow..written by her to Ned ..and Ned to has hide that there so nobody else could find it..[b]There is also buried Rhaegars armor and sword [Dawn or Blackfyre]..who is connected with the other dream that he has as Azor Ahai..Maybe that sword will used there for to kill the Nissa Nissa[the red priestess ]and then to kill the NK and Jon will wear Rhaegars armor in the last battle and [c]the Dead Kings of Winter..In the books that stuff will happen for sure ..The Kings of Winter will resurrected by Jon sacrificing a Stark..Bran perhaps .. in the Weirwood Tree..so the Stark blood[who contains magic ] of a warg /greenseer will wake up them for to fight in the last battle along with the living..Aragorn/Jon ..same similarities...I m wonder also if you sweet summer mama will do a video on the parallels of Danny/Arwen ...Arwen as Danny in GOT was supposed to die in the end of the LOTR ..because she gives her immortality to Frodo ..but she survives at the end and married Aragorn and Danny has those HOU visions who she meets Rhaego and Drogo there ...and many fans thinks that will be her death at the end ..but i think she can survive also and marries Jon in the show in the end or Young Griff in the books if he proved Rheagars son...as you stated in your bittersweet ending video.Could make a video on this?
My Jolly Sailor Bold when did arwen gave her immortality to Frodo ?
in the first movie ..when she saved him from the Nasguls guys ...He was stabbed by them and started to turn into a Nasgul himself ..She gives her immortality to him ..so he to live and not pass away and be Nasgul..That happened also in the books.
Dawn was given back to the Dayne's (actual fact) And Blackfyre is most likely gone, no one knows where it is, same with Dark Sister.
My Jolly Sailor Bold that wasn’t what Arwen did. It more of a protection spell of elven magic that was also blessed up on her. In reality it was Glorfindel who helped Frodo but not by any magic. He just put him up on his horse and set the horse to get him safely across the river as swiftly as any horse with elven influence.
The reason Arwen starts to loose her immortality is a very long reason but short story is because she decides to stay with Aragorn.
My Jolly Sailor Bold use periods not ellipsis (incorrectly)
Oh wow....... Each week you make me think of something odd.... 👌🏿😎🇻🇮
I never comment but I had a idea that I had to put out to you. You spoke about the crypt and how the dead kings have the iron sword keeps them in the crypt. The one that is missing the sword could be the stark that is the night king. That's why he is back because the sword is gone and he could be good no to winterfell to release other dead kings and make his army unstoppable!
Imagine this jon and his companions (main heros) plus dany cornered in the crypts of winter all about to die but then jon does some kind of amazing speech about summoning the kings of winter the ground begins to rumble and shake and crack then hundreds maybe thousands (idk how many starks there are in the crypts) kings of winter bust out the crypts and cleave through the enemy lines then the night king runs away in absoloute terror at the might of the united strength of the starks
What about the dragon that lives under the pool of water in front of the wierwood tree at winterfell.?
Could it be something really complicated like when the Starks finally kneeled to Aegon and agreed based on the promise a Targ princess marrying into the Stark line. A promise never kept by the Targs. Untill Rhaegar finally married Lyanna. The prince or princess that was promised?
Very good analysis...
Jon: "You will suffer ME"
"There must always be a Stark at Winterfell." My theory is this: If the Nights King comes down, he will call to the dead in the crypts at Winterfell. Brandon the Builder put a spell on them so that as long as a Stark is in Winterfell, the dead in the crypts will rise, but will be sworn to serve the living Stark in Winterfell. This fits with the Paths of the Dead: Only an heir to Isildur could call the dead to serve him to fulfill their oath, only a Stark could command the dead Stark army (including how many warriors and kings?) to fight the White Walkers.
Great video! Always so insightful.
Quick question: may be nothing but just want to satisfy my curiosity. Lol
I am fairly new at the show and the books just in last 6 months so, in advance, I apologize for being an amateur.
The books and show describe the crypts many times about all of the past King’s of winter and Starks with their swords across their laps and dire wolves at their feet. Is it noted anywhere that all previous generations had dire wolves as their companions? I assumed that the five Starks had puppies as a fluke? Especially since the wolves are not south of the wall.
THANK YOU🤞🏼🤩
Love the video and the channel, your LOTR character pronunciations tho, I've never heard there names spoken in quite that manner
Prisons have iron bars to keep the spirits in the cell after death.
IT doesn't sound crazy - I think it is what may happen. Winterfell will be besieged by the Dead Army, and defeated, again. Those who survive the battle will escape through the hidden passages - which Theon used. Jon will be forced to go back into the crypts to raise the dead Kings of the North to fight the Dead Army. The Dead army will have moved on, (no need to stay in an empty castle) they have a goal farther south. The only way to stop them will be to burn the dead from the battle and raise the Dead of Winterfell - the Army of the Old Kings of "Winter Is Coming".
your voice is so soothing and enchanting. if you ever started a horror narration, or any type of narration channel you would take over the scene!
Why is it in all the dreams and visions between charecters. As much as people go over Daenearys and the undying nobody ever mentions the table with the blue corpse with the floating blue heart over it. Any thoughts G?
fell4
ADJECTIVE
literary
Of terrible evil or ferocity; deadly.
‘the fell disease that was threatening her sister’
More example sentences
‘Sometimes, the wind also brought unnervingly fell sounds with it, as if a chorus of unholy demons was singing in the distance.’
WinterFELL
Imagine that the tunnel was in was connected to crypts
Looking for his father ( Ragar Targeren) they never found his body did they?
I wish this aged better. I was hoping they would shake off the NK's influence and help... but alas.
We have seen oaths broken going to a seemingly supernatural length. In legend i with the ratcook and in all perpetrating offenders at the Red Wedding dying off.
Maybe a Supernatural length could be taken in order to KEEP an oath. After all they say Winterfell has the same Magic as the Wall. Maybe that Oath taken by each and every Stark in the Crypts and their connection to the old magic, offerings and tending at the Godswood, etc. Maybe its enough. Lyanna is down there...
In bittersweet fashion maybe Jon Could see Lyanna and Ned and Rickon for just long enough for some closure. At least Ned and Lyanna.
Perhaps the Oath to protect and serve even after your death. Combined with the Old Mojo wont ALLOW the Stark Lords to serve the Other.
If MAN is the Three Eyed Raven. And the Three Eyed Raven is a man. Maybe he is the ying to the yin of the Other. The fire to the Ice. The flesh to the root.
If this is a story about man using magic in an unknown to them effort that will totally eliminate it and reform the world i could see the Kings and Lords of the Crypts rise and fight beside the living.
They may need a catalyst beside the actual presense of the Night King to rise however. Maybe he needs to try and wake them and they rise last ditch. Or maybe it requires a Sacrifice of some kind.
Id love to understand the Old Mojo better
Did anyone ever recover Robb's bones and take them to the crypts of Winterfell?
Did oathkeeper really mean the baby the night King turned into a white walker?
In a way, the fact that most literature comes from older tales, makes me sad because it feels as if everything is derivative and all of the good stories have already been told. 🥺
Talking Thrones proposed this theory, too. However, I truly appreciated your in depth inspection of dreams and the connection to JR Tolkien and Norse mythology. Keep those videos coming.
Can someone explain to me why Dany is also having dreams of the Crypts of Winterfell. In one of her dreams in books 1 she is in what can only be described as the Crypts of Winterfell being chased by something which can only be described as the night king or a white walker, a man with ice breath. Something is going down in the crypts next season for sure. Dany knows if she doesn't escape " SHE WILL DIE A DEATH WHICH IS MORE THAN A DEATH HOWLING FOREVER ALONE IN THE DARKNESS"
Great idea considering the army of the dead possibility.. makes me think of the sword too... 'the sword was broken.. it has been remade'... lightbringer? Talking Thrones had a great video about Melissandre being nissa nissa.. her heart banner had not registered with me before. Put these two together and you have lightbringer.. which may have something to do with how Jon can summon the dead kings?
Lauren Brillante: Melisandre *did* tell Varys that she will die in Westeros...
yes i know.
Hey! That was my first GrayArea video! You autoplayed after a Last Harpy video and I was like "OOO WHO DIS" then binged listened to everything for a week at work hahah.
So I went to Costco and got as much tin foil as I could to make my Blood Raven hat, and I can't figure out why the fuuuuuuck the blood of old valyria would be chosen to be the embodiment of the old gods of the north, which lead me to my next thought of is the three eyed crow the physical embodiment of the old gods??
Lady Brightroar 💡💡💡💡💡💡💡!!!!!! It’s possible because the three eyed raven was like the children of the forests and weir wood trees protector right?? And don’t they all draw on the power of the old gods??
Thank you sweet lady Gray. I think you and TT are on to something! I think Jon is the one to blow the horn of winter and raise the Stark army of the dead. He is a Stark (regardless of who his father is), he is both fire and ice, he is undead (died and risen) which will allow him to blow the horn without dying, he took the Nights Watch oath before the weirwood, and he has been declared King of the North. Now will the show do this? Even if GRRM wrote the script I doubt that D & D will have the balls to shoot and CGI this scenario. It wouldn't allow their "key" actors to emote the scene around snippets of trite dialog. In the books, GRRM will make it glorious! Bravo Lady, keep the juices flowing.
What video did Talking Thrones (assuming that's what TT is) talked about this?
The Kings rising would be something!
Great video Gray! I am super excited for those LOTR comparison videos. I know they will be amazing!
Love your idea about the king's/crypts. I've been thinking the same thing. Also the Lord of the rings similarities.
My god this would be amazing... me and my family have said fro. Day 1 its weird how they all have direwolves and swords etc and even joked they would come back to fight. Obv the guys who plays NED stark isnt being called back to shoot which he confirmed so I highly doubt this will happen in the tv show but if it did... could you imagine him finally fighting beside Rob and his father (uncle) etc it would be an beautiful thing to watch z
I will bet its all undercover. All the STARK BOYS TOGETHER FOR ONE LAST TIME. LOVE IT.💕
well, first I want to say that I quite enjoy your videos and I want to thank you for countless hours of enjoyment.
That being said I disagree with this theory because of 2 reasons:
1) I don't see George doing the same thing that the LOTR did. I know that one of his biggest influences is Tolkien (and it's no surprise when you come to think about it) but one thing is to be inspired by something, the other is to rip it off.
2) The kind of magic in display here doesn't fit the overall magic narrative of the series. I am not as versed as yourself but I'm quite sure that magic in the world of ice and fire is a bit darker, and it usually comes at a price. In most instances magic brought with itself pain and suffering. In order to revive John stannis daughter had to die, in order to revive the dragons from slumber drogo and Danny's son had to perish, and so on and so forth.
I don't see this one happening. But that's just my opinion.
Overall great video, once more I really enjoy your content, this is not me hating or anything, I'm just interested in what you have to say about this, that's all.
Much love
Cheers!
I absolutely loved this video. I look forward to your upcoming video about LOTR v ASOIAF. As a fan of Tolkien's writing, this is like reliving the books when you mention them in comparison to GRRM's work. I subscribe to a lot of the Game of thrones channels on youtube and yours is the best in my humble opinion. I often hear you mentioned on other channels so clearly, I'm not the only one who supports you. YOU ARE AWESOME! Keep doing what you do because we love you for it.
POTENTIAL SPOILER: It was leaked Jon and another main chatter were going to have more than 1 scene in the crypts
Remember Jon said he saw nothing when he died the first time.
In the show I can't wait to find out what actually happens when John gets ressurected
Fantastic job! One of your best yet. Thank you for all your hard work making these awesome videos to help us get through this "extremely long night"!!!! 👍🌟🌉
Maybe since there's no stark in Winterfell and Jon being the closest the place is calling to him but him not believing himself a true stark He's resisting it.
ldariusd21 he has stark blood.. either way you crack it. He is the stark in winterfell
GrayArea He has Stark blood and Robb legitimized him. So he’s a Stark. But in the show, Bran is the Stark in Winterfell. Or Sansa, since she’s Lady Stark.
He is Lyanna's son so he is a Stark & a Targaryan, so he is a Stark in Winterfell even with Bran, Sansa and Arya there.
If we are talking about the show Bran and Sansa are both in Winterfell...
Idk what are yall talking about in these comments nobody gets what I'm saying.. 😑 In the books Jon is the closet to Winterfell and there is no Stark in Winterfell at all! The recurring dreams he has means something is calling to him! And since we can say there is magic in Winterfell the place could be calling him since he's the closest Stark or needs a stark to be there or because he's the True Heir if u believe N + A = J or who knows what the reason could be but the place itself, or that specific area deep in the crypts, or maybe even someone is calling Jon there.
I loved this! was waiting for it since you did the last got / lotr comparison, but I especially loved how you butchered isildur! (supposed to be pronounced iss-ell-dur) lol!
Leah I suck with LOTR pronunciation
That's why I prefer GoT discussion....George gave me the permission to butcher his characters' names. There are no "wrong pronunciations" in ASOIAF except for Pee-Tire Baelish or The Damn-Fair. Those are unacceptable abominations.
It was amusing how you got all the names wrong lol. But we won't tell Tolkien on you :)
Would be so cool if Jon used the horn Sam found beyond the wall to summon the dead lords of Winterfell. There is some reason a Stark must always be there too. Not sure what it is.
Nah. To have such a big event, raising the kings of winter, by a random horn they happened to dig up in the snow.
It's silly.
@@MikeTall88 apparently NOTHING in this series is done by accident. Not silly. Wait and see
We need answers from GRRM. I guess we’ll have to wait & see if these theories are accurate. Great vid as always!!!! 👍🏼
great video. I can't help but think of the part of the Azor Ahai prophecy, "waking dragon's from stone." obviously the old kings aren't dragons, but it kept gnawing at me.
I also was feeling this. They r in the crypts for some sure reason.
Naveen Kakti brooooo I can hella believe this
The show just ruined all these possibilities. I hope GRRM dont follow the show
Love the idea. Jon using the dead to fight the dead. Aragorn released then after The Pellenor Fields which wasn't the final battle but was crucial to saving the city. Maybe GRRM will make a parallel where Winterfell won't fall, but the final battle will be at the Godseye.
I can't see them pushing back all the white walkers and wights to their place again. There will be one huge single battle where it's headed out at winterfell dead or alive wins there.
But liked your theory as well. Just can't see them pushing that huge ass army of dead back xD maybe the night king gets chillbones and take his dragon back alone and Jon goes after with his dragon and they later do a face of where Jon kills the night king and all his soldiers of dead that remaining just falls to bones on ground. Like something similar happend with the ring getting throwed in lava in lord of the ring movie and the army goes down with the falling ground
Also heard night kings dragon dies but don't know if that is rumor.
Wow, very provocative theory! There would a nice symmetry between the Night King & his Army of the Dead vs. the King of the North & his Army of Winterfell's Crypt. Not sure where Dany and her dragons would fit in this scenario, since Season 7 ended with Jon swearing fealty to Dany (I think this dynamic is gonna flip!). Since it appears the Night King is acquiring dead animals too, it would be a nice balance to have dead direwolves joining the dead Kings, too. I hope to see Nymeria lead a contingent of wolves to the battlefield, too.
Another passage that supports your theory about the dead coming back to fight is: the chapter of Jaime's fever dream. He sees shades of Rhaegar and his KIngs Guard, & Ned Stark...all dead, all back to fight.
AND OUR ROBB POOR BABY WITH HIS GORGEOUS HEAD. AFTER ALL HE IS SPIRIT NOT BOBES.
🤔 Good one.
If you decided to do readings for audiobooks I would to buy it and hear the stories for the 1000nd time, your voice and way of reading is so intruiging! Great video as always!
Sometimes I wish season 8 had used a bit of tinfoil from all the various channels because they were all so creative. Oh well don't cast pearls before swine.
It is frustrating that like nothing was explained or paid off.
Valhalla is where dead norse warriors go to feast until they are called to fight the final battle. Not just anyone goes there - the valkyries lift the spirits / souls of the bravest warriors and take them to valhalla. Love your vids and theories - you have a gorgeous voice!
Fell means hollow hill
If you are going to do the video the pronunciation is "Ar -a-gorn" and " Is-el-deer " Otherwise super video, keep it up!
I love your insights, but PLEASE watch the LotR movies to find out how to pronounce the names. 😁
Good vid, in general... You should really work on your pronunciations of Tolkien and his characters, and then it’d be perfect.
TBH, If all the Kings of winter come back to life, but not as ghosts but as human beings, imma freak the fuck out!!!!!!!!, BRING BACK NED😂
Isildur is pronounced Is-seal-door. Not is-silder. Re-watch LOTR.
Good theory.
It would have been awesome if jon king in the north could summon death kings of winterfel to fight agsimt the night kings. It would have been epic. The death would have said the prince was dead and house taragryen and stark male line is broken. Jon would have said that line has been remade with stark and taragryen blood amd the prince that was promised is reborn and his real name is aegon targayen 6th of his name. House stark male line is technically broken because bran is not a stark anymore he is three eye raven. Bran stark died im that cave. So jon is technically the half stark male alive im westerous.
One thing I've been thinking of a lot lately is that all of the Stark kings' statues have their swords laid across their laps, which is also a sign that a Lord is denying someone Guest Right. For example, Robb had a sword on his lap when he met with Tyrion not too long after Ned Stark had been killed. The symbolism of the construction of these statues is fairly clear....the Lord is no longer extending/can no longer extend Guest Right/his protection to anyone, which is pretty dark even for the Starks. Depending on how one looks at it, this could foreshadow the Stark Kings coming back to fight either for or against the Night King, as denial of Guest Right is generally linked to an act of aggression. We also know that the iron is supposed to prevent the dead spirits from rising, but one of the swords is gone....perhaps one Stark King will set all of the others free.
The show is so far gone from the books I doubt it would happen in the show sadly. But in the books most definitely!!! That's an awesome idea, I got goosebumps when you were reading about Theons dream
65656 subscribers 😍😋 same digits by both side, took a snapshot 📸
That’s a palindrome! I saw it too, very cool. 😎
Love the video. Gotta work on the LOTR characters pronunciations for that comparison video
Yes lol I do thank you
Jon is a "Targaryen" (Dragon) King.
The prince that was promised, "the song of Fire & Ice". The rightful ruler of the Seven Kindoms, but he is also of "Stark blood" with strong ties to the ancestral line of his forefathers, the King's of (Ice) in the North, his mother's people. It appears Jon is not ready yet too fully embrace all that would be known to him, because of the simple fact that deep down he deams himself not worthy of the call, do to his basterd status; however it would seem that the Father's of Winterfell disagree and want the young King (The Warden in the North) to except his fate and fulfill his duty.
The crazzy thing is they didnt usauly lay stones in winter cuz morter needs certain temperatures to set lol but thats just facts lol
Magic is in the Crypts.. is the equivalent to the NK’s magic, to bring back the dead for war. I love this “Dreams” series. Thank you M’Lady!
Great comparison.
In Brans first vision thru the trees he sees his father, thinks he is still alive and tell Bloodraven and Leaf, They tell him no he is dead and then Leaf tells him not to wake the dead. That to me is a huge clue. But with this don’t think that means that Jon and Bran will be at odds?
Never at odds those Stark Boys The way I see it Bran is the Arm and Jon is the Weapon. Sam is the Brain and also an adopted "brother" o r. Stark.
In this waway it will be a bittersweet ending.. jon winning the battle but ending with his dead ancestors ALIVE......
Hi, I am a huge fan of you videos. Great job. I have a few things in alignment with your content in this video.
1. What was the oath binding the kings of winter?
The oath sworn at the "eye" or isle of faces , between the first men, of whom the Starks are direct descendants, and andals, from whom could have descended the valyrians.
1.a. The bittersweet truth: the words of the northern men...that the north remembered...but in truth they forgot the original oath...the oath which sent the night King packing beyond the wall.
1.b) the prince that was promised had to come from the direct blood line of both the andals and the first men....not Stark and Targaryen....to summon both dragons and the dead kings of winter to the oath forgotten.
2. What will be used to awaken the kings of winter?
- horn of winter to awaken the kings of winter(fell) which is now with Sam, the trusty sidekick of Jon
-dragon binder to bind wild dragons to valyrian will. Only the blood line with tolerance for fire can blow it. And the fate of any other is already mentioned in the book
And now, a fan request:
What could the original oath/pact be the sent the night King packing and ended the long night?
If a True Son is the only one who could bring forth the Kings of Winter that is Bran no? But again he needs to be also of fire? Not Bran. Who then? Also they HAVE to use that Horn .
You have a voice of gold u need to do voice overs professionally. I totally agree with you I thought that would happen it also happened in True blood.
I am so excited to see this! I wish there had been more on the show about the crypts...there is no limit to what could b done as far as stories based on them..thank u so much..
That could be the power within Jon that mellisandre believes in... The power to summon the kings of winter 🤔
Will you be featuring Jojen in the dream series?? He's an interesting character in that he hasn't died in the books yet but has in the show. Any thoughts?
He probably has died at the hands of the children of the forest and made into wierwood paste we just don't know if yet!
Oh, one other similarity between Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and A Song of Ice and Fire. The Nazgul/Ring Wraiths were created (via rings) by Sauron, who is basically a demon serving the Devil. They, in turn, can create more wraiths by wounding them with Morgul Blades. I believe the Night King is under the control of the Great Other, a god of evil. He makes more White Walkers, and they, in turn, can turn dead humans and other animals in wights. Parallels.
Great video GreyArea :-) Greetings from Norway :-D
Great as always. Thanks for helping us through the long night! 🌙
The Kings of WINTER...WINTER is COMING both sound not good...winter=death seems to me...
When you put it that way. NO BUENO.
Yup. Thats exactly what its supposed to mean. Get prepared cause Winter is Coming!
it would be a total rip off from JRRT if the dead kings of winter rise to fight. And also a rip from Thor Ragnarok haha
Which were rip offs of the terracotta army in Chinese films from back in day
lol it's pronounced eeesildor not issildur 😂😂😂
There's the possibility that if the Night King is a Stark, he could raise them as well.Hope not though.
Ivi Zarcheva that would be crazy!
@@jasionsail super crazy!
the 'battle of the fords' has only happened three times in the Song of Ice And Fire
How come benjin didn't fully change? Is it cause he was a Stark?
@Jason Lang was there just the 1 girl/woman left or more in hiding?
I agree, this is the first video I came across about the crypts that describe my theory! I think the horn of winter may raise the dead stark kings. I'm just not sure whose side they will fight on, since there are so many suggestions to them being similar to the others.....
Are starks part child of the forest and part first man? That would be a significant puzzle piece laid down if true…
It would explain warging capability and the values taught to the Stark children
If this happens, hooboy!!!!!
When Aragorn blocked Dead King dude's sword and grabbed his neck, "It has been Remade!"
Roel Morillo chillsssssss
Another TERRIFIC video, Gray. I've been saying the Winter kings might rise, at least in the book, mainly because of the Aragorn comparison . (As you know, on the show we'll be lucky to see the direwolves rise!!) But tying it in with these dreams and other foreshadowing is very convincing. Wow! And Ragnarok--you were the first then to bring it up. If it's a 'beginner' video, perhaps you could do it again with your more developed theories over this last year or so. Anyway, brava!
Maybe The lower levels didn’t collapse, instead it could have been a tunnel connecting to an escape route or to another tree. I dunno it’d be cool if it was more than wasted space.
as much i would loooooooooove to see the death kings rise ( i repeat i hope) i doubt it .i know he gets his inspitation from the author of LOTR it would be too obvious.but what the heck i wish they did.
I'm late to the party on this one, and the show is over, with no army of the dead except those fighting for the Others, but I have always felt that it had more to do with Jon, not the kings. In his flaming sword dream, at least I believe it was the flaming sword dream, he is referred to as King Snow. This is the Song of Ice and Fire. All of the dreams are important. Daenerys doesn't dream of going beyond the Trident. She does have the dream of the winter rose growing out of the Wall, clearly signifying Jon, but this does not place her there. Even though everyone keeps talking about them going beyond the Wall, especially on dragonback, no dragon will fly beyond the Wall. I think that the show combined some of fAegon's arc with Jon's, much like they did with Ser Jorah's and Jon Connington. With that being said, the dragon having three heads, I believe does not necessarily insinuate that the individual must become a dragon rider. I feel that the message in the dreams is laying out that the "Kings of Winter" will arise again with Jon becoming the King of Winter. I think that there is a distinction between the Kings in the North, and the Kings of Winter, but in the past, Starks had enjoyed both titles, or one or the other, quite possibly due to circumstances. I think that there is sufficient foreshadowing that suggests that the War of the Long Night will be fought far more separately between Jon and Daenerys, depending on the possibility of her being seduced by Euron. There are a ton of theories swirling around, and have been since before the show, but I think that Jon portrays far more of a Night's King, just like Euron, but the positive of that. The dreams go so far as to say that those same Kings telling him that he does not belong there, and I think that is a major clue as well. Bran and Rickon both had the dream of seeing Ned in the crypts, and Bran spoke to him, and Ned was sad for Jon. I believe that all of the crypt dreams from everyone are connected. Theon's dream seems to be the "Feast for Crows" more than anything. I don't know. There are other subjects that I feel are tied to all of this, but it's such a huge subject all on its own, you could actually do an entire series on the crypts and what it really, or at least potentially means, such as the magic... if Storms End kept shadows out, it might be the same in Winterfell, but has been forgotten. The Nightfort has an 8 sided kitchen and a magical mouth door, and the House of the Undying has an 8 sided well and a magical mouth door. There are a few things going on that everyone seems to be neglecting.
what always baffled me was why didnt jon ask melisandre to try & bring back rickon ???.i love TLOTR trilogy & the hobbit my mate told me to read the silmarillion but i never got round to it.tolkien wrote his books during the second world war while the germans were bombing england but realistically he never would have got away with the sex & gratuitous violence.i hated the end of LOTR,s because they killed sauraman on his tower.in the books sam & frodo save hobbiton from sauraman & his thugs.the film goes on for about an hour after the ending of the big battle.so for me peter jackson was an idiot for changing it & making the ending totally boring great post..
Bravo Gray! As always this in depth analysis as to reading the books is right on. If they do this in the show it would be Epic so we shall see. Thx for the phenomenal upload. Keep em coming.
The way you pronounce the Lord of The Rings Characters made my blood vessels pop...
Just like her starting to scream at the beginning of, like, every second sentence... 🙄🙉
What if the weirwoods need to eat to some woodwind music? Oh, I'm defiinitely gonna look for that video. lol
I just want to point out that Jon IS part stark. He is the combination of the most powerful and last of the first men and the last of the Dragon tamers [ i cant be bothered to spell the name]. these are two extremely powerful and magical blood lines, he is brimming with magical potential with ties deep into both sides of elemental magic present in GOT.
i would love to see the old kings of winter to come back but if that is true would that mean that Lyanna Stark would come back as well? what if this is the way Jon finds out, Instead of Bran or Sam telling him, he finds out from his mother.
