Catching wild guppies 抓野生孔雀鱼 - North of Singapore Location 1 新加坡北部1号点

Finally, a location that is not in the West of Singapore. Someone shared this location on Facebook and I decided to go and try. There are quite a lot of mosquitoes there, so it is a must to bring mosquito repellent.
All fish caught in the video have been released back to the drain.
The guppies have an important role to help to keep mosquitoes in check. Catching guppies with children is a fun activity and also a good time to educate them about the role of guppies in our drains and streams.
Please practice catch and release. Should you want to bring back the fish, I would recommend not to bring back more than 10 guppies ( A good ratio to have is 1 male to 2 females).
终于有西部以外的抓鱼地点。我在脸书看到有人分享这个地点，就安排下去抓抓看。这个地点有很多蚊子，去的话一定要带防蚊用品。
影片里所抓到的鱼已安全的放生回水里。
孔雀鱼在我们的垄沟和小溪里有一个很重要的任务，就是控制蚊子的数量。抓孔雀鱼是一个很棒的亲子活动！带孩子去抓孔雀鱼时，也可以教育他们孔雀鱼在垄沟和小溪里的作用。
个人我是支持“抓好玩的”，抓了之后把鱼放生不要把鱼带回去。如果你想带回家养，请不要带超过10只鱼（比例可以控制在一条公鱼配两条母鱼）。

Hello, I'm not from Singapore but from the Philippines. I catch this guys on rice paddy irrigation canals by microfishing hooks and line with chicken meat as bait. I mostly catch female wild guppies but males sometimes bite but it is a bit harder to land. I use your method sometimes but mostly doesn't work because the river where I catch wild guppies are very deep.

Hi there, I would assume the fishes are always near the water surface? But the fish trap sinks to the bottom? If that is the case, you can try to add two floats, one in front and one at the end of the fish trap. So that the fish trap will float horizontally near the water surface. :)

Come in the Philippines where you can find a lot of wild guppies.. I only catch it using my T-shirt.. At Mainit 😁😊

Hi Derek, based on my previous trip, there are only wild guppies. No other species found at the North location.
