Dagger boards are fantastic for gripping the sea going upwind, and this seems to be the main talking point about them.... But they are equally important on other points of sail and most of all in storm conditions where you lift them up. this allows the cat to slide sideways if needed, for example, if hit by a rouge wave. Many people choose fat cats with mini keels for cruising, but this is a serious mistake that can cost you dearly. JMHO, Rustie.

Yes 💯 they are important on all points of sail. They give you options for tuning the boat too the situation you are in at any given time
