    Now this is the video I have been waiting for
    Initially I hated the looks of the Sportster s, I went to a dealer to look at it in person and my good it’s beautiful, photos and videos do not do this bike justice
    I have been comparing these bikes on paper (being in Australia the scout 101 is still months away)
    Thank you for the video and for me, the sportster s takes the win and probably the money in my wallet

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles
      @NostalgicMotorcycles  2 місяці тому

      Lmfao glad I could help. I will say this if you only have one bike total the 101 is probably a better choice as it’s slightly more comfortable for longer rides and more customizable as far as bags and touring commodities. The as is faster and more fun in my opinion. But I have a comfortable longer range bike that I ride as well so I can look past the comfort and focus more on the fun of the sportster s

      That’s something to keep in mind. I generally don’t do long rides, so the time I need to I was just going to tough it out on the sportster s. In Australia the sportster s is $24,000 and the 101 is $28,000 ride away. Is the scout worth the extra $4000 in your mind?

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles
      @NostalgicMotorcycles  2 місяці тому +1

      Comfort and features yes. It’s a better all around motorcycle. If I could only one motorcycle and these are my 2 options I’m picking the scout. Having multiple bikes I’m taking the sportster.
      The sportster S is faster which to me is more important.

    Sportster has quite hard suspension, feels awesome to ride though. It’s a unique look. Would have to ride the 101 before making a decision. Bought the Nightster Special for my wife which was $7500 less than the Indian 23 scout. Nightster Special is a fantastic bike, highly recommend checking it out. Great vid mate, from Aus 🇦🇺

      Incorrect. Indian is owned by Polaris, but does their own design, engineering and construction. Calling a Lamborghini a VW doesn't change that fact that they aren't actually built or designed by VW.
      Spreading false information. I live 1 hour away from the Indian factory. Polaris does not design the Indain machines, they are simple the umbrella parent company.

      I've got the FTR Carbon and I test rode the 101 last week. I was really impressed at the torque on it! But to me it's almost too similar to the FTR to trade it so I'm thinking about the Sport Chief or Super Chief.

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles
      @NostalgicMotorcycles  Місяць тому +1

      Anything is possible. It’s not the best tool for the job. But 3-4 hours for sure is doable. I personally think this bike would be pretty u comfortable after about 300 miles but the bike can do it. And with bags a taller screen and maybe a different seat that’s changed my answer as well.
      As far as starting. Many have started on a scout. It’s easy to handle very balanced easy inputs. My answer is yes if you’re not scared of the power. Some people require a lot less power you just have to know yourself. But this bikes is smaller easy to move around even with the weight it has 👌🏽👌🏽

    Sportster S is my pick. It’s very fast, and if you dial in suspension correctly. It’s not bad at all. With that said, brakes is an issue, the 101 superior in that aspect. I am a 101 fan also, but the power and torque of HD Sportser s is uncanny

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles

      Fulling ? Filling like fuel ?
      The scout almost the sportster no. Sporty gets terrible range maybe 150miles if it’s 90% highway. I usually fill up around 110 during city driving.
      The scout can go 170-180 maybe 200 all highway. That bike has more range for sure.

    I chose the Sportster S. I had the previous Scout. I love both bikes, but I am a bit sportier. Lifted the rear and about to replace the shock absorbers in the back. Changed the front tyre to 150 Matzler. It's getting a bit sportier now. :)

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles
      @NostalgicMotorcycles  2 місяці тому

      Oh man does that new front tire make it fall more into corners ? I feel I have to guide it all the way down and out of turns. Does that change with the new front tire ?

    • @Beastius24
      @Beastius24 2 місяці тому +1

      @NostalgicMotorcycles it's 15 not 16 and better shaped. It's much easier to steer but it's not a 120 tyre though

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles
      @NostalgicMotorcycles  2 місяці тому

      Ya true but that’s good to hear. I don’t know if there is a world where a 120 fits this bike lmfaoo. That’s for nightsters

    • @Beastius24
      @Beastius24 2 місяці тому +1

      @NostalgicMotorcycles a 140 with a trick can be put on the rim. For Sportier handling I would do front fork lift too, throw away both tires and replace them with the ones on the FTR sport. Since there's Adaptive ride height technology available I don't know why HD hasn't gone for that option; imagine that engine and chassis with a 42-43 lean angle, easy tip in and longer suspension but with the aquat down at low speed....it would be a killer

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles

    I ride a twin cam fat boy so I do like some Harleys. But I can say after test riding the sportster s, it's horrible. Quick yes. But brutally uncomfortable and controls not ergonomically placed such as the signal light switch as you need to extend your thumb awkwardly to get to it. I felt like I was always on the verge of falling forward over the sportster and was very uncomfortable on my neck, and back. I haven't ridden the 101 scout yet but I have ridden a previous model scout classic and i can say that the scout was so much more comfortable and better ergonomics. However, the scout at the time felt cheaper and more plastic like. The harley feels a little more premium feeling, but overall, the scout feels much better and more thought out. I'd take the scout hands down over the sportster s and I'm a harley guy

      Lmao it’s fast it wants to be fast! But seriously regardless of lucks. It’s a cruiser rides and feels it too Honeslty. Doesn’t look that way but it’s pretty much there.

    • @firestarter8202
      @firestarter8202 8 днів тому +1

      @ I can’t buy it’s a cruiser. Maybe a sort of scrambler? I don’t think this is the Scout’s competitor. You should probably measure this Harley thing against the Indian FTR 1200. IMO.

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles
      @NostalgicMotorcycles  8 днів тому

      It’s not a naked bike. No where close ftr at all and these bikes are a completely different category.
      The ftr is tall with pulled back foot rest. It’s a true naked. Engine to engine ya maybe. But literally nothing else. I’ve ridden both I own one and made a video about the other. The ftr outside of engine has nothing to compare to the sportster s. At all. Like nothing.
      The sportster s is a cruiser regardless of what you think from picture. Go see one in person. Sit on it and 100% it’ll make sense to you. This bike is short with a low seat. The only thing that makes it not look “cruiser” is the fact that the tank is low and the bike has a flat appearance across the top. But where your butt is. Where your hands are. Where your feet are. Is 100% cruiser.
      It’s not even cafe because cafe bikes have mids or rear controls and the seat is so far back (almost above the back tire) where you have to lean forward in a sport bike position. That’s not the case for the SS. What you see visually (which I fully understand) and what you feel when sitting on it. Is not the same thing.

  • @radicalkonrad765
    @radicalkonrad765 2 місяці тому +1

    The sportster has better specs but it's not really a traditional cruiser so I'd compare to an FTR but regardless I'd pick the 101 it looks fantastic and has nice components
    Edit: Different class entirely but the low rider s is in my opinion the best sport cruiser you can buy.

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles
      @NostalgicMotorcycles  2 місяці тому

      Ehhh the I agree with you in that it’s not a traditional cruiser. But there is no comparison between the ftr and this outside of the actual engines. Which would be a fun comparison.
      The ftr is an upright naked. Very different. When you sit on one it’s a different planet for sure.

      I will say the left side of the engine does look unfinished as it doesn’t have the same bronze pop as the other side that’s spot on.
      Brakes are better on the Indian but it’s not as much as you think. They are marginally better not substantially. The real feel difference is as higher speeds the 101 brakes feel as if they grab more faster but sub 80mph they feel dam near the same.

    Harley has terrible ergos, and the suspension/hardware doesnt come close to the Indian. Especially with the collasal front tire that hates to turn in.

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles
      @NostalgicMotorcycles  Місяць тому

      Not exactly true. The 101 is more comfortable in general but the sportster isn’t bad actually. It’s not a 500 miles a day bike but it’s not uncomfortable. Sportster has equal adjustment as the 101 and can be soften substantially but does come stiff from the factory.
      Tire does negatively effect the turn in but people have gone with non oem and that goes away with a proper front tire (even being big) the peak on the oem tire causes this issue.

    Sportster s is not a cruiser or sport cruiser, is more of a street bike with some cruiser elements, that said, we ahould compare it with the cb family, mt or even ninjas. If we do so, ih boy how trashy it will be. I am not an indian fanboy, but harley is just out of the picture.

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles
      @NostalgicMotorcycles  2 місяці тому

      The sportster S shares nothing in common with naked bikes, nothing. Aside power in the case of mt09 but plenty of bikes make 120hp that doesn’t mean they need to be compared. But I find it funny you mentioned these and the ninja because it’s not as trashy as you think. It’s faster than all the Mt and CB except for the 1000’s because duhh. And you mentioned. A ninja. I have one. A zx6 which I raced the sporty and this ninja because it won’t be trashy and it’s basically as fast as a 600.

      @@NostalgicMotorcycles top speed does not count, where the naked bikes or the sport city bikes like the mts or the cbrs put their power? From middle to high rpms, where sportster is lacking. Top speed is not a measure of compare anymore. We should see accelaration, throttle response, rpms response, even customisation if we want to take it a step futher ( meaning remaping, performance only). Weaight to hp rario, still harley lacks. They tried to touch that category and failed, indian lacks too compared to the EU-JAPS but at least they made a pure sport cruiser.

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles
      @NostalgicMotorcycles  2 місяці тому

      Lmfao I don’t think you actually understand. Again the ss is not a naked. Or a bike to compare to those. The sportster S is as fast as a 600, has the midrange and torque of all those naked and more 90 ftlbs is more torque than most 1000s. Way more than the average 50ish on a parallel twin. And 2 lbs over 500. There are nakeds very close to that mark. Especially with screens and luggage with none of them bring. It’s a respectable weight. It’s not 6-700lbs like average cruisers. Hell 50lbs short of most 600 is very very very solid for American bikes.
      It’s lacking in handling compared to nakeds and super sports. Yes but I said it’s not compareable to a naked from the get go. 100% if you want a sport bike the Harley and Indian are not your bike. Period. Don’t compare. But each of these will out perform standard cruisers in all “sport aspects”. They are not sport bikes. They are not meant to turn a 600 squid into a cruiser guy. They are meant to give cruiser guys a faster better performing bike. And that they do well.
      The fault is in the comparison. Not the bike.

    I never thought I'd say this but I'd take the Indian. I think it looks WAY better and with the tech, it's a no brainer. 10HP increase isn't going to do much and the better ride in the corners make it the clear winner.
    I've been a Harley guy since I bought my first in 2008, Softail Crossbones (FLSTSB) and while I've loved that bike, I simply cannot stand supporting a company who's gone as woke as Harley has. Motorcycles should NOT be political tools but unfortunately Harley has brought that crap into the discussion. SO my money will 100% not be going to Harley anymore. I know I know, they'll be broken hearted to not get my hundreds to thousands of dollars a year that I spend on merch, repairs, parts, and more so I'm under no delusions that I'll impact the bottom line. Mine is a small, small voice but it's the only one I have and I'm screaming as loud as I can. I doubt the idiots on HD board or executive team can even hear me but they need to change course ASAP while there might be time to save the company.....otherwise, we're sadly witnessing the final days of HD

      @@NostalgicMotorcycles - First of all you're only partially correct. Harley is a publicly traded stock so anyone can buy Harley stock. So it's not a private company....which is what is implied by saying it's owned by private equity. However you are correct that it's owned by large companies that are privately held or that are public but the vast majority of shares are owned by like minded companies. BUT you simply cannot say Harley is owned by private equity cuz that's factually false or incomplete. To say that Harley will be fine is also not accurate. Disney stocks after going HARD into the woke culture has never recovered, same with BudLight and Target. All of these companies have been severely impacted by their woke policies but softened their stances long ago but the damage is done. Time will tell if Harley does the same. In the wake of a tighter economy, Harley picked the worse time to have this revealed. When stock prices tumble public companies have trouble raising money - something which Harley was already experiencing prior to the economy hammering the every day consumer. Their problems are multiplying exponentially and the longer they wait to change, the worse it'll be. Like I said, I will be VERY surprised if Harley survives this. I honestly do not think they will.

    • @NostalgicMotorcycles
      @NostalgicMotorcycles  2 місяці тому

      Only time will tell my friend. I will say this. Harley has been around for an extraordinary amount of years. I can say longer than you and I have been alive. When I say Harley will survive looking at a 1/4 year just isn’t meaningful. Same with these other companies we are talking almost and some more 100 year companies like a bad year isn’t going to knock them out trust me. If Harley has a down 10 year maybe we can start talking about them going by the wayside but one quarter in a market where all sticks are falling is really meaningless. Same with bud and Disney. Market will go down eventually correct and when the total economy gets back on ride these companies will rise as well now how much is yet to be determined.

Warranties exist because they are not all 100% perfect. All vehicles fall under this it’s been a lot of years since companies made something as bad as a Pontiac fiero and that’s what it sounds like you think this is, when it’s not. that’s not remotely close to true.
