@@SNOWBIRDBIKER I just put mine on and adjusted the top according to the calculator feature on their website, and it rides super nice! Not sure how to adjust the rebound adjuster deal on the bottom though. Should I leave it or would you suggest tightening that up some? Thanks
@@BAsed_AFro If it feels good you could leave it. The rebound is usually set about half way on the adjustment control. It does not affect your compression, it just has to overcome the spring rebound rate and control how fast the wheel returns to its full position.

I wondered if you had brought your bike. Yes, the new shocks sure improved the ride. I did an Iron Butt ride on Sunday. They sure added a little more comfort than the old ones. I'm getting things ready to leave in a couple of weeks. I'm riding to California and back on Route 66. That's one of the reasons for the new shocks. Cheers. Enjoy the vacation.

Hi Cal thanks for the brilliant video. Just picked up my new Road King and was looking at the Ohlins HD772 shocks. These don’t have the separate reservoir though. Does this make a big difference. Once you have set your shocks up I take it you only move the knob on the reservoir to stiffen and soften the ride. I presume with the ohlins 772 you have to take the bags off.
The Ohlins 772 are excellent shocks. Yes, you would need to remove the bags to make adjustments. On the Screamin Eagle Ohlins the adjustment knob on the reservoir controls the compression, however I have to remove the saddlebags if I want to change the preload or rebound. You forgot to mention that these adjustments have to be identical for each shock. You don't want to unnecessarily be high-sided hitting a bump and sending yourself to Chicago 😂

@Snowbird is there a difference between the HD OHLINS and the regular 044 OHLINS springs? I heard these are NOT built from Ohlins specifically for the rider/bike combo, Where Ohkins takes your weight..ect and builds the springs exactly for YOU and your bike. Whereas these springs are not. Do you know if that's true? Oh and the HD version comes with the black bracket to mount above and behind the saddlebags and just under a tour pack. Whereas the Gold OHLINS don't have the bracket as of yet. Thank you.
I was told by the Ohlins rep that other than design aesthetics, both are the same. It would be unwise to build a shock to accommodate a specific weight because that could change if you occasionally ride two up, or have a full or empty tour pack, or no tour pack at all. On both, ideal SAG is obtained by adjusting the preload. You are correct, the bracket is different on the SE Ohlins, making it easier to add or remove a detachable tour pack. I'm being told by a very high reputable dealership that Ohlins makes two different springs, #1 is for people 250 pounds and under. And #2 is for heavy duty, bigger riders in the 300+ weight. Or maybe it's combined weight over 500 pounds for the heavy duty spring?? At least that's what I'm being told. This applies to touring baggers 044, 357 Ohlins. But I have not been able to speak with a rep from Ohlins yet.
We are the same weight how many mm of preload did you do? I am not able to get sag past half an inch with zero preload and me on the bike Talked to Ohlins and they have no idea other than a stuck rebound needle or installed incorrectly. Put plenty of shocks on so pretty sure that's not the issue....
You can also use a Bluetooth camera to see how much it drops when you sit on it, should you be like myself and have only a dog to assist you. He wants to help, but no opposable thumbs really handicaps his ability. 😏
I am considering these for my 2021 Street Glide - worth it? and did you notice a change in the height of the back end? I like the existing rear height and don't want to change it....
I like them, but they are an inch longer than stock. There is some adjustment to reduce that (I’m on the road and don’t have exact but about 1/3 inch) however my bike still seems a little higher.
Doesn't seem that you need the measurement that you get from lifting the bike of the ground. Just measurement with and without the rider to get the inch sag.
Just an observation. There are so many "adjutable" attributes on a motorcycle from an engineering perspective many of which a owner/rider cant do much about withoug re-engineering the motorcycle things like rake trail front rear weight bias center of gravity etc etc etc It strikes me as a little funny that Harley riders would suddenly become enlightened and laser focused on one or two of the attributes and being delighted with the results ....which is awesome and fine except why do they flippantly not care about so many of the other attributes? It just seems like to me at some point the lightbulb would come on to realization fr the money? One COULD have a much better engineered motorcycle overall ....sigh....but I guess the "form" is so much more important to a Harley lover that function .....and hey NOT that Harley;s have not dramatically improved over the decades because of course they HAVE....but Im just saying performance wise (not just power part of performance but ALL the aspects) for that kind of money? They COULD be cutting edge awesome....I keep hoping Harley managment will end up in the hands of true motorcycle lovers rather than those serving bean counters focused on milking a single "base" of harley owners devoted to fad aspects of the brand....too much form and profits indirectly dicatating function.....which I see as unacceptable personally
Interesting observation. I wanted adjustable shocks to improve my ride comfort more than handling improvements. I have two other motorcycles, both Harley’s. My Pan America offers excellent handling, and similar off road capability to a BMW 1250 GS. My Low Rider ST is a fun bike for shorter jaunts. There are other brands that excel in one or more aspects, but in my opinion, non offer a complete package equal to Harley Davidson. I’ve been riding for over 50 years. Over that time I’ve owned German, Italian, and Japanese motorcycles, before buying my first Harley 20 years ago. I’ve found that most riders with an anti Harley bias have never owned one; many have never ridden one. Thank you for watching my video and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it.

I just got these and the instructions have a table to set the sag based on your weight and weight of cargo. No need measuring on and off of the bike.
