    What was the reason you had to do that repair, I have the 2013 1.6t and have done coolant flush and replaced the CTS also blead the coolant system, and the vehicle continue to bubble up and leak threw the res, in your experience do you think it might be the thermostat, I am looking to do this tomorrow and might as well replace the pump. TIA for any input

    Not knocking you at all, but I had a very different experience when using these wedges. Your vids were great as far as tear down went and I appreciate them! However, I set the engine to TDC, cam marks up. I installed said wedges, and as soon as I released the belt tensioner, both cams slipped. So.. I had to buy the complete kit like 1 would when replacing the t-belt. Comes with everything including the flywheel holding tool. My q is ( if you see this in time) what is the procedure for properly resetting the cam timing and VVT once they've moved? I have the tool to lock the rear of the cams, as well as the phasers. Crank is locked at TDC. How do I know the cam/VVT is correct before trying to start it, other than the marks at 12:00? If you could get back to me, I'd REALLY appreciate it! THANK YOU! 2013 Escape 1.6 T same as yours.

    I have a serious question for you, since it looks like you know this procedure inside and out. Can you think of anything that could go wrong during the pump replacement that would contribute to the timing belt snapping after about 1000 miles later? That's what happened to me. My 2013 escape with only 31K miles on it, had the pump replaced, and about 1000 miles later the timing belt broke. A clean snap, no wear marks or anything like that. Belt looked brand new, accept for the actual break of course. Dealer shop cant give me any reason for the breakage and are acting like its a freak incident not related to the water pump service. I'm pretty skeptical though. Any insight you could give would be greatly appreciated.

    I took my 2013 Ford Escape to an independent car repair shop in my town. When I first took it in they told me it was a bad alternator pulley and said they replaced the pulley. That did not fix the problem you could tell within 30 minutes of driving it. Took it back twice then they told me my water pump was going out and that they should replace the timing belt as well when doing this repair. They have had it for over a week and are having issues with the repair. First they told me the broke a plastic fitting on a water hose and had to wait on that part to come in. Now they are saying that they have had to order special tools from the dealer because the cams are off and has thrown another sensor and that it is not running right. They still have my car and I have little confidence that it was repaired correctly and am worried about additional damage. Do you have any advice for me at thispoint? Are the things they are telling me make sense or am I being fed a story? If they have ran it long enough to throw the sensor could they have damaged the cams or worse? I watched your videos trying to understand what special tools could have been needed. Trying to make sense of the what they are telling me.

      Sondra Shelby it sounds like they took on a job that ultimately should have gone to the dealer. Skill level a little higher on this one. There are special tools to do this job, however no where in the workshop manual does it say to remove the cams. I would advise you right now, to tell them you are no longer wanting them to repair your vehicle. I would bring it to the dealer and have them pay the bill due to the fact of how theyre repair process is going. if they took on the job and it didnt fix it, im pretty sure you have a good ground to stand on defending why you shouldnt pay for the repair. YOU TOLD ME IT WAS GOING TO FIX IT, IT DIDNT. how is that your fault. I hate 2 say it, but you pay for what you get for. Next time come in and see us at a dealer where its gonna get fixed right the first time here.

    Do you know if there is a recall for the 1.5 ecboost for coolant consumption

    Before u put the wedges in, does the engine need to be tdc? I'm doing in now and I want to be sure.

      No it doesnt, thats so u dont have to put it at TDC.....it holds it right there locked

      Thank you. I got the pump in and the tensioner back on. None of my marks moved, so the wedges worked. Now I just gotta get the rest of it back together. So much fucking around in such a tight space.

    hey Aaron, is they're a trick to putting the timing belt tensioner back on?

    • @PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod
      @PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod  8 років тому +1

      Sam did you use a piece of metal to hold the tensioner open if you look in one of my videos you'll see that I used a metal pin to hold the tensioner open so that when I went to put it back on everything would line up if you're having difficulty putting the tensioner on I would probably put it in a vice and see if you can get a metal pin through that hole to align it so that you can easily put it back on

      Aaron thanks. I did exactly that, use a vice. I've got an Allen key holding it in place, but I've been messing with it about 2 hours and can't get it lined up putting it back the same way it came out!
