Sailing in ROUGH SEAS to The Bahamas. Is this our first PIRATE EXPERIENCE?!! [S2:E65]

- Hello Everyone!
We finally say goodbye to the Dominican Republic and sail back to The Bahamas, but the weather doesn't want to make it easy for us. We have a long swelly sail to Little Inagua. The surprises don't end there, we have our first potential pirate experience, but it turns out to be the Bahemian Military with no marked uniforms, boarding the boats with a blacked out dingy with AK-47's. That was an interesting experience... Let us know what you think and how you would've dealt with the experience!!
If you want to hear in more detail about what happened, read below!!
Here is a little extra detail into the Military boarding experience we had as we sailed into Little Inagua. As you can see in the episode, we had tied up to Spear It Animal since our windlass was broken and it was a calm night. We noticed the military ship when we came in and there was another yacht anchored above them. We didn't think much of the ships anchored there and we were running out of sunlight as it was sunset when we were sailing into the bay. We needed to get tied up to Spear It Animal before it got dark. As Nathalie was tying up our stern line to Spear It Animal we hear, "Everyone on the vessels, move to the back of the boat", as this group of 10-12 men, wearing no uniforms, except bullet proof jackets, were boarding on Spear It Animal's Port Stern with AK-47's aimed at us. All four of us were so caught off guard, with no boarding announcement, and we were all preoccupied with tying up 'The Far Side' nobody noticed and at this point it was pitch black, with the slightest sliver of light on the horizon. Even the dogs were so off guard they didn't bark once during the whole experience, first time EVER they're quiet with strangers around. The men finally announced who they were and split up in two groups spreading out over both boats with their guns. Sascha asked if she could shut off the engine of The Far Side as we didn't even have time to do that before these men were on the boats and had to be followed into the cabin to turn off the engine.
Then the odd comments started... Nathalie was in a small top and skimpy bottoms and asked if she could change, or put on some shorts. The main guy, who made the comments during the episode, said something along the lines of " There's no need, you look fine in what you have on" Next, we were making small talk about the crossing we just had and said we were looking forward to a shower and some warm freshly cooked food. The main officer made another comment along the lines of "You don't have to wait for us to leave to shower, we don't mind". The main guy ended up checking out the guys boat and gave them a really hard time. Luckily the officer who checked out our boat was pretty easy going and quiet which set our nerves at ease ever so slightly. Then as things were wrapping up is when I got the main guy making the comment about staying the night on our boat.
Overall it was a fairly sketchy situation and since we were all so sleep deprived, exhausted from the long, difficult sail, it felt like the whole experience was a dream. We all brainstormed what we would do individually, us two girls on our own mostly, especially with the odd comments that were made. We were so exhausted all we could think was, thank god the boys were there, it most definitely helped diffuse the situation and most definitely deter the officers from other more extreme comments or who knows what else. We still get goosebumps about the ordeal!!

Eyebrow sculpting underway and no one ended up with an eyepatch. Well done 👍 ✌️
You ladies are not boat bums! First class all the way! Love ya!
Your filming of the rough seas you were in, made me feel like I was almost with you. Stay groovy and stay safe. You two always seem to be in good spirits.
Wow! You ladies literally rocked it all the way up there! Great job sailing with windy conditions such as what you went through.
That would have been a bit spooky to get rousted in the middle of the night like that, you all did the right thing by being cooperative and all is well.
Thank you for another wonderful video of your continued travels, and be safe while doing so! Hugs to you both, looking forward to next week's video!
Suggest you move your vang (or kicker if you are from the UK) to a strong central fitting. Clipping it to the gunwhale is not good. If you accidentally gybe then it will be very hard to release. Down wind use the vang with the mainsheet eased and well down the traveller. The more power will ease the rock and rolling and give you more speed. Also try and stop the leech from fluttering it will wear out your main. Storm jibs are just that, they have very little shape and you are better off using reduced sail on the headsail. Also invest on some lee clothes for your bunks before you get really hurt. Those officials were definitely out of order!
once again...love your videos and adventures...thanks!
Nathalie, such faith you have in Farside and Sacha! Allowing her to hold a sharp object so close to your eyes and more importantly your brows while Farside is underway is truly an act of faith!
Keep up the great videos and above all STAY SAFE! ⛵❤️😷
You girls got it, good luck and keep making great videos!
Safe sailing, nice seeing the dolphins while sailing, enjoy watching your video.
i am so impressed .you girls are fearless. i would be terrified to be out on the open ocean in the dark without stars to light my way .
Great episode! Miss you guys
Hey Ladies, I stopped in to tell you that I get my $1 Catalina C-25 delivered to my back yard today. Maybe after a couple of years of refit I'll be following in your footsteps.
Best of Luck!!
Trust your instincts! Thank God it all worked out!
Eating a chicken sandwich from chick fil a and I'm*reminded of this channel
Enjoying your adventures keep it up
That was a good sail bet u slept well.carry on taking care sailing out there
Wow what a great episode! Fast trip and dolphins! But that stuff at the end was weird. Pretty damn scary to watch and by the sound of your voices it was a pretty damn scary situation! Glad you are ok!
Wow! That was CREEPY as heck! Glad you had your friends close, but really,,,,, awkward and creepy! Thanks for taking us on your journey, I look forward to your videos every week! Stay safe!
Yes it was!!
Awesome..n..,Amazing...
Great video, well done girls.
Y'all are badass. Thankful for your friends to come help at the end. Screw the cops. That pissed me off so much.
See you all soon ?!
Great video
wow cool, you sisters are brave and amazingly great 👍👍👍💜
Good vid ! You Gals should think about a plan of action, if you do find yourself's in a dicey situtation. Unfortunately, there will always be a few bad apples out there (being polite). The key is to avoid them. Take care & good sailing 😊.
Hit Video Chipurile Vechi Gym America
you kept your cool in a potentially bad situation. Good on you
Stay safe , good to have friends , not all are nice
Wow bet that was not fun!? Glad your safe tho happy sailing
nice filming , i almost felt seasick
Cool you guys are ok???? If you can hang out in a group like that.....That is a very very good thing....Stay safe and have fun.
Sorry to see Banner and Nellie staying, they got to be fun to be with.
130 degree angle, damn near standing on your head..
Trimming with Scissors on swells is a bit hairy..lol
Great Vid, be safe girls and you two have a great week.
That was certainly sporty as you call it
I don't know what the other comments were, but joking or not, authorities asking to stay the night is certainly out of line, especially with them being the presumed law enforcement authorities in the area. Asking it a second time is a huge red flag. I think I've mentioned it before, but I'm glad you are buddy sailing with others. I know you girls are very capable, but bad crap happens.
Excellent trap avoidance.
That passage to little Inagua looked amazing! I did a passage from St Thomas to Little Inagua last year on my 36’. 20/30kts of breeze and 10-15’ following seas one day. 😅 I miss it already!
I’m in FL now, maybe I’ll see you guys if you’re ever in Gulfport area 🤙🏼
Thanks it was😁
Another good one , but weird dudes , be safe gals 🙏
Thank God you girls have those two big lions with you! 😎👍🏽✔🐕🦺
Best Golajele America
👍👍👍👍👍
The fun of the sea! It looks nice when it's smooth I guess, but can't have the wind where you want it! Sadly :-(
Sailing life is sure raising you to be great skippers and women.
Be safe....my friends...
👍😎👍
Southern Bahamas has always had a bad reputation. I can remember my dad saying this to me as a kid. Was a kid, a longtime ago, btw. Anyway, we always met a ton of yachties while living in Panama Canal Zone. Dad was customs, boarding officer and admeasurer. Always got seafare news from the yachties. The old cristobal and balboa yacht clubs were the best.
You two must be close or are back in the Bahamas for this season? I think you need to sail the Bvi's! Was your boat originally named Karibj?
If I has to go somewhere on a sail boat I'd just as soon stay home.
I know u guys have faith in your yacht in any conditions , cause your dad would have installed in you, that is why he chose that yacht, wicked sailing, best wish for rest of your journey,
девочки вы супер !
I was really enjoying the video update along with the dolphins but that ending? That was definitely more than awkward. Very uncomfortable. Thankfully your friends were there. I like following your adventures but I hope you don't experience any other scary situations like that. Stay safe. See you next time.
I totally agree!
All this time I heard Spirit Animal not Spear it Animal
прикольные вы девчёнки !!!

Frumoasa Fetele America
Make no mistake, that was creepy and "real". This guy was fishing.
😂😂😂
I know you probably have been asked this question before but I’m new to your channel. I would like to know the year of your vessel and who made it, length beam etc.
You ladies be safe and careful unfortunately there are a lot of bad people in the world.
Check out our boat tour episode. We give some pretty good info about the boat!
ua-cam.com/video/XXX40nBei5I/v-deo.html
Did you gals record everything that was said
if so pass it on TO THE WORLD make them famous
Keep safe ladies
Yooooo, that was some shady shit on the boarding!!? FTP
What's your final destination in Florida? I live up here in Central Florida!
Our boat is in Florida right now😁
Awesome episode. It's one thing to act like that at a bar, but that was a little creepy. Have fun and stay safe guys
Fetele Baetii
Just for the record ladies. a little description of what made you uncomfortable with the law enforcement presence would have helped us to understand your "Discomfort".
Sorry about that but you had to watch!
I believe that those officers comments are why they are often referred to as pigs! Totally inappropriate!! Good luck ladies 👍😁
America
HOLY CRAP! What major @#& holes! I have no idea if it would go anywhere, but I'd feel better if you reported that incident (because it's really about me?). That was so far from OK I don't even know what to say, I was expecting the whole 'piracy" thing in the title to be clickbait, but while obviously not piracy, it's about as bad as it. And there was more that wasn't filmed?!
Yah once we realized how odd the whole situation was we sneakily started filming, but couldn't get it all on camera. Too bad we didn't still have the GoPro mounted at that time
Those guys making those comments are scumbags. WTF who says that to two females sailing by themselves? I would not have slept a wink if I was one of you girls on that boat. these guys are more than likely predators . I know this sounds odd but I worry about you two sailing by your selves. most of the times you are in a group with other people but when you are by yourselves and you have to deal with scumbags like that it is worrisome .
I hope you both made it to your destination without any issues .
stay safe and God Bless!!!!
I always worry about you ladies coming in contact with pirates. For the Bahamian Coast Guardsman to act the way he did, he should be fired. You should send the recording his commanding officer. My commanding officer would never stand for anything like that. Please be careful out there. ❤️❤️❤️
We aren’t worried😁
@@SailingTheFarSide There are a lot of sicko’s in this world, I still worry for you guys. Hope you had a great day today.
Ladies, I am considering a rather larger boat than yours, would you consider crewing a different boat? The one I am looking at is three times bigger than yours. You would be going on an adventure, larger than your current range.
You kinda sound like the guy at 20:00!
@@daled8221 Too bad you know anyone of such maturity, it says a great deal about you and those who associate with you. Ironically in life, certain people that comment on our own futures, aren't like those you interrupt as bad. I don't generally need to defend myself from anyone, I have more experience in life than you have time on earth. Next time, I'll message you for permission to ask these ladies a question. Until then, settle in and enjoy the show.
Stay the night? WTF. That was not a Statement from a LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER rather a Solicitation from a potential PERPETRATOR.
We had friends so we weren’t worried but if we didn’t have them we would have gone to service😁
Uniforms don't make the wearers boy scouts now do they...
Just noticed the mini blind cord near the hatch, that style of cord can become a choke hazard for the deck rats!
Definitely a bit weird there at the end. Not a cool thing to say. I would have been uncomfortable… stay safe ladies….
Law enforcement is there to enforce laws. They are under no obligation to protect you from anything or anyone,
What perverts….Good thing the animal crew was there….
What did the officers say? Did he ask about staying with you two?
Yah he made multiple sexual comments and then asked to stay on our boat, would've taken it as a joke, but when we just awkwardly laughed the first time he asked, he made sure to get a verbal response from us the second time he asked
The customs guy behaved like a pubescent 12 yr old. As if you'd say oh yeah, stay the night... Jesus... That dolphin leaping and twisting in the air, now that is freedom...
@17:43 Bit of sisterly love with stabbing the other in the eye with some scissors! Almost ended up needing an eye patch!
For those who are talking about firearms, you cannot move between countries with them. You may have your boat seized.
That was sketchy to say the least. Retired from many years running MY’ in SE FL. Always travelled “ready”. Fully declared 9mm. .380LCP and…. The Mossberg Mariner with mixed loads. Brought out a few times, never had to use though. As I said, long since retired. Those guys likely in minority, for sure a disgusting performance that their superiors should be made aware of. Boarding with long guns? WTF were they expecting that a good side arm could not handle?
Be safe!
Guns invite more guns. Not a good idea.
@@barriecharmsway8026 : Really? Have you tried calling 911 in the middle of the night while crossing the banks - back in the active drug trafficking years?
@@seajCharleston no, how is that relevant
girls never ever let your guard down anywhere safe travels god bless always remember guns dont kill people daddys with pretty daughters do
девчёки хочу к вам !
Report those Law Enforcement idiots. No room for that behavior. If they were Bahamian they will take action.
Some sketchy shit. They just creep up or do they announce themselves first? If I was in your shoes I would be armed to the friggen teeth traveling the open water. Def good to keep a buddy's
around.
At least a couple of well hidden shotguns loaded with buck and slugs and maybe a couple of extra flare guns.
We didn't know they were boarding us till they already boarded Spear It Animal and we had guns pointed at us telling us to sit at the back of the boat and don't move....
@@SailingTheFarSide Thats F'd up. Thankfully it worked out in the end. Mabey some sort of alarm for when your sleeping could help forewarn you a little next time.
@@SailingTheFarSide That is most definitely messed up.. Either pirates or government troops on an extrajudicial mission looking for a wealthy, easy mark they could exploit.. Who's waters were you in? no matter, I would file a report with the nearest US embassy in case this is part of a routine problem.
If you wore more cloths I think you might get more subscribers as it sure ain’t pretty
One of you looks like you have two black eyes?
Not a pirate experience but a sexual harassment experience.
