  • Hello Everyone!
    So this is what we call a shit show episode. It's an episode where everything goes wrong. First we start off with us running aground in some shifting sands. The next part is a little better because Nathalie changes the engine mount which we had to change due to an oil leak we had last year which caused the mount pad to deteriorate. We couldn't let you guys see everything that went wrong so stay tuned for next weeks episode and watch to find out what else happens!!

    It fascinates me how two sisters can spend 24/7 together with their parents on the confined space of a boat. All with no drama. Hats off to you all for your mastery of family crewing.

    Lookin' good .. currently I'm helping my friend change the mounts on a Perkins 236 .. I don't envy you at all. The new mounts had different hole pattern. Got the rear done a couple weeks ago, working on the front. Had to cut the stem off as well. I enjoy following you gals on your journey. I'll be out there on a couple months on my boat. Take care.

    You guys need a sock for that asymmetric spinnaker or you let the tack go and pull in the sheet and slowly drop the halyardc and slowly pull the sail into the companion way.

    • @SailingTheFarSide
      @SailingTheFarSide  3 роки тому

      Hmmm not sure if it would reach to our companionway but we decided that we wouldn’t use it while we are sailing alone and we have been doing that the past month😁

    • @sailingcitrinesunset4065
      @sailingcitrinesunset4065 3 роки тому

      @@SailingTheFarSide Blow the tack first it takes the power out of the sail and you can pull it down into the cockpit easy no matter how big your boat is and keep it out of the water. Maybe watch some youtube videos on spinner drop ;) lol Also I noticed you had your spinnaker layed out on the deck all wet! If it went in the water it must be washed in fresh water or salt crystals will destroy it when it dries. Just my tips :)

    • @kevinclark2642
      @kevinclark2642 3 роки тому +1

      You can also blow the halyard... let out a third or so of the line all at once, which will depower the top of the sail, then another third as you gather. You have to then be quick to gather it in the foot, but with a little practice you'll get the chute down fast. We would do that instead of blowing the tack, which turns the sail into a big flag to wrestle down.

    • @SailingTheFarSide
      @SailingTheFarSide  3 роки тому

      @@kevinclark2642 yes we sure haven’t mastered the spinnaker but hopefully soon we will, thanks for the tip!😁

      Try it in about 10 knots true so you can get the feel for it. Then you can do it in heavier air as you get better at it.
