One important question. From what MMR or till how much MMR should we consider playing our own game solo and when to rely on teammates? Given the right circumstances.
in a pub never rely on your teammates because they are not your teammates. Once there is some sort of communication then they become your teammates. so if they don't speak or you don't speak then you are not technically teammates - you just happened to play the same match on the same side
I clearly remember for me that point came at about 2.3k and the whole game began to change in many ways. Below 2k was a real hard place to be at, but as you climb higher the whole dota experience just got much better as it was now an actual team game.

@@polygon166 ahh. well about the smurf problem tho id recommend not thinking that way. herald smurf ar most likely 3k below because no person with decent mmr like lets say 4.5-5K would smurf on HERALD, i mean that bracket has players griefing their own teams so yeah most of them would probably smurf at crusader or smth. TLDR: smurfs in herald arent even that good tbh. This is just my opinion tho but I like smurfs, I learned from them by watching my replays and thats how I gained mmr... I also watch bsj ofc. Its going to be a stomp a couple times but instead of complaing "ugh these smurfs are holding me back from advancing" you can just learn from them really, find out how they stomp. Because honestly dude smurfs arent your problem, its mentality. The reason smurfs exist in the herald bracket is because they know people will just get tilted and never learn therefore keeping the game easy for them. But after a couple months I was giving smurfs a hard time, they couldnt do their usual shit since thay had to actually play. And let me tell you when you give them a hard time and prevent them from doing what they want they will return to being that toxic player that they are in their main bracket. Theyll start complaining about their team, make mistakes and bad decisions. So please stop with the smurf complain, the only reason people complain is because they dont want to try. Honestly i find it better to be agaisnt a smurf since its literally a player thast better than the rest of us in the pub meaning i can LEARN smth from that game VS playing with all heralds and learning NOTHING since all of us are shit, get it??
Honestly this is the hardest thing for me to handle, I carried myself out of trench in CSGO but I've never been a very mental gamer and I've really struggled with Dota.
This guy's biggest lane issue was the Hoodwink hugging the lane. Within the first 3 minutes, they're all the way up on the enemy tower. Meanwhile, the hood is sapping XP. Sure, he was getting CS, but then Pudge got the hook into his tower and forced the TP out. All that CS lost over just that. Now you'll get a fat hoodwink support who will probably try to carry when they should be supporting.
You can't expect the support to stay out of the lane at such a low MMR. As BSJ said, the only thing you need to climb out of herald is good CS. Support hogging exp will become a problem only after 3k MMR I reckon.
I remember playing support at low mmr and my objective for the first 5-7 minutes was DO NOT LET YOUR CARRY FEED. When you get a guy who lasthits and has game sense probably 2k above his mmr, it doesn't work out as well but sometimes the instant you leave is the instant the am/pudge smacks him around and suddenly you have a tiny that has tp'ed back to base 4-5 times and is griefing you about leaving him alone and is level 4 at 8 minutes instead of 6. Nahmean? That's some 500mmr support meta for you when you haven't played for several years.
also east us 500 mmr is like 3k other regions in terms of difficulty... like seriously? tiny safelane? at this mmr i dont see that. people actually tryhard at this mmr in us east.
As a new player calibrated into herald, one thing i realized is that i watch too many videos, but do too few of the drills... this leaves me with a lot of things i know i should be doing, but can't really execute properly. Rather than benefiting my play, all these things i worry about end up as distractions that fuck up my fundamentals. Learned from this vid that i should focus on CS and fundamentals first, then build from there later on.
Wrote this comment during the first game. Apparently, bsj points out the next game that the trainee seems like he watches a lot, but played little like me. Lol. Bsj is so spot on
hey brother , really appreciate what you have done in this video absolutely amazing the way you explained and that but is not jut that , no matter how much you trying to explain this fact and all the ways we should start and play on a ranked game in won't change at all believe me ... i just keep trying to get out of the herald zone and i cannot no matter how much i would try and 9 out of 10 times is not my fault i mean not my fault at all , my last 15 games i probably have like 6 or 7 wins or my last 20 games i have 6 or 7 wins all of them me MVP , wont matter what i play , support ,carry , offlaner ,hard support ,safe lane mid .. it just don't matter . And i come here because i wanted to say it over this content because u look professional in what you do and you know what means this game . The matchmaking sucks i mean it sucks so bad that it won't allow you to get out of the herald zone , i do understand the fact that the matchmaking should try to make it harder for u to climb into the division and offer you opponents of your samelevel or a bit stronger as a challenge but it just not that mate . The amount of stupid people that i get in my teams 8 out of 10 games is just so devastating , i can`t get rid of them in any way as much as i am trying . If you choose to report or avoid them the matchmaking it will give you even worst . i mean i tried , probably over my last 50 games i avoided like 60-70 players and report about same amount. I mean my skill is way of the top of the herald and crusader and probably anchor too and when i say it i mean it but the fact that i play only solo mmr it wont happen for me to actually achieve my real skill level and thats a dota 2 matchmaking fault and all the noobs who are playing this game without actually thinking they ruin other players game , they just don`t care. And i don't understand why the fuckers are playing ranked if they don`t know play properly ? i mean i am so sure a lot of the ones they have commented in this video section they are such a bad level of players that instead of taking information and watch how to play a hero and use the normal matches for like 20-30 times before you engaging with that hero into a ranked game ,because i have to say noobs like this like this Shit and trash players are the one that are destroying every single game in his way because they dont understand the perspective of a competitive game and that you actually need to join that game in order for you to play a tactic or teamplay . The game is not solo for you to just play by urself and trying to show your best .. !!! so much to say about this , i could write a BOOK . We need a solution about this . ! !!
I’d just like the BSJ guide for what I should do for my first 10 ranked matches do I need to just commit and get it done to work from there? I’ve got 600+hours in unranked games
When I found this channel I was 10mmr and thinking I knew something. I'm fast climbing, already 400mmr. EVERYONE still like to go JG and farm with me, the HC, but I still manage to solo carry most of the matchs. I love offlane but my HC is 200 GPM so I have to be the HC. If I try to ask my team to do something there's a 40% they'll try and fail and 60% they'll tell me to fuck off cuz this is not the W.cup. It's as BSJ said: don't base your game in your team actions. 30% of the matchs I play with a friend who isn't a genius nor is studying dota but follow my calls and learn from my ever improving knowledge. Playing with him is almost granted free win. We have a saying in Brazil about "swallowing your tears and doing it" and that's what I'm doing. Who cares if my two sups are farming both sides of the JG for the whole game?
Thing about Herald is that your team will flame you and mald when you farm as a carry. Or push the enemy jungle/towers on offlane. I've found the game is lost on the social side when the game knowledge is nonexistent. The most toxic players will decide the winning team.
Is there a part 2 to this? I know it's a long shot of a question since the video is a year old now, but i couldn't find part 2 in the playlist of the coaching sessions which lead me to believe that it's not accessible to the poor people? (just jokes ;) )
I wish I could get a BSJ coaching session. I feel like I could show him you can play a 3k game in the first 10 minutes and still lose a lot in this rank. I can imagine how many people may feel the same way but the Peruvians, toxic people, throwers, Smurf’s are all more detrimental to the game than playing 2-3k above your current rank. Just my opinion
The problem with Herald and Guardian is, it's not enough to be slightly better, because you can't compensate for the lack of skills or griefing (etc.) of your team mates. You have to be way above the Herald level, to play so good that you most likely stomp the game yourself! And you can't do that with any hero, especially the ones who are dependent on good supports or team synergy. But here is the problem! If everyone wants to improve to get out of the lower bracket, no one will! That's the law of gravity.
I would say that 99% of trench players are casual players that play 1 or 2 games a day. I am one of those (in the 3-4k trench for years). This is a factor most coaches are not considering when talking about getting out of the hole. Let's be real, considering that 99.99% of players have a 52% winrate, it is impossible to get out of the trench unless you play more games a day. And sometimes you invest some time to it and fo in a lose streak kekw.
if your plays are 3k mmr then your mmr will stale at 3k it's as simple as that. you can play 2 games a week at 9k and never drop because you are in fact a 9k player. and such player will never have the 52% wr in 3k
@@high5ive557 Dude today one sniper ruined my entire game...I was TA mid and he picked support sniper and came mid with me...I just left lane to roam and get kills and towers...fuck this bracket bro😂😂😂 there was Earth shaker with daedalus rush too!
At this mmr people should start with setting up their hotkeys and mouse settings properly and then play like sf last hit challenge and tinker bots games. if you do it right you'll get 3k+ on your next calibration in 2 months of practicing (speaking from experience from introducing 10+ friends to dota)

@@feeblemonster8174 no seriously. I have a friend who was so lower than me at 1.2k, he got to beat smurfs by getting better learning fundamentals learning and making habits, It's not hard lmfao.
BSJ can we get a personal ranking system that dose not rate you based on the other 4 in the game that feed and throw, coming from some one that has a 6k account and a 760 account the 6k is a cake walk ppl know how to play the game is fun kinda like Dota 1 in player skill. the 700 MMR games are filled with so much garbage you cant climb trying to carry 4 ppl feeding or afk farming. Judge Jamma! I dont want to be the toxic guy here but for ppl like me should we even try and lvl an alt account and get it ban for smurfing or should we just buy one at our mmr . ?
the problem with the trench is that once you got good score a few games then the matchmaking system will match u agaisnt smurfs team while you are matched with legit herald player then you gonna win lose win lose win lose and you just stuck there unless you are high level pro player you probably can escape other wise only a few rank up you can get. i got more than 20 kills and less than 5 deaths then the next game im with legit herald agaisnt smurfs team always happen

@@justinroy3769 I see I play in Sea so it doesn't usually happen here unless that player is new to DotA otherwise no one would deliberately do that but the fact is a lot of smurfs ruining matches for low tired players and games are usually stomp so all the knowledge bsj gave here trying to help goes down the sink as soon as there's smurf stomping matches
To all the trench players here. It's okay bud. Not everyone is amazing at everything.
Even so, there is always the ability to improve
Hard to win when you have a techies every game in hearld that goes 3/15
@@chrisbrooks6965 i was literally 1MMR once, can confirm this. spamming slark is a good solution.
Honestly this is the hardest thing for me to handle, I carried myself out of trench in CSGO but I've never been a very mental gamer and I've really struggled with Dota.
the trench really has crab mentality though
Finally a hearlad replay , thanx for the content
Really good video, thanks for your suggestions. I will be practicing my last hits for a while see what happens
I’m trench but the difference is I’m in ‘murica. We way too poor to afford bsj coaching lmao
It’s not even that we’re too poor it’s all sold out 😔
also east us 500 mmr is like 3k other regions in terms of difficulty... like seriously? tiny safelane? at this mmr i dont see that. people actually tryhard at this mmr in us east.

Is the second part of this coaching session available somewhere? Trying to escape the bottom of the trench myself D:
As a new player calibrated into herald, one thing i realized is that i watch too many videos, but do too few of the drills... this leaves me with a lot of things i know i should be doing, but can't really execute properly. Rather than benefiting my play, all these things i worry about end up as distractions that fuck up my fundamentals. Learned from this vid that i should focus on CS and fundamentals first, then build from there later on.
Wrote this comment during the first game. Apparently, bsj points out the next game that the trainee seems like he watches a lot, but played little like me. Lol. Bsj is so spot on
BSJ, The wife-beater is on point 👌, next step, no shirt lessons 🤣. On a serious note, love watching your vids!!
Okey … this knowledge is insane … that why i stuck as cruisader 3-4 ….
Thanks for this upload … i will rethink my strats
29:20 I've never thought about it before.
24:00 - 24:05 I just love it
hey brother , really appreciate what you have done in this video absolutely amazing the way you explained and that but is not jut that , no matter how much you trying to explain this fact and all the ways we should start and play on a ranked game in won't change at all believe me ... i just keep trying to get out of the herald zone and i cannot no matter how much i would try and 9 out of 10 times is not my fault i mean not my fault at all , my last 15 games i probably have like 6 or 7 wins or my last 20 games i have 6 or 7 wins all of them me MVP , wont matter what i play , support ,carry , offlaner ,hard support ,safe lane mid .. it just don't matter . ! !!
BSJ really knows his stuff.
The guy literally charges $300 an hour. Would never pay any money to get better at a video game.
I'm 3k and Im still learning from this video. Many thanks

I just came back to dota after 7 years and im archon, i swear they all played much better right now.
Love you BSJ.
You are the best
More of this guy please! There are so many people like me who are like this guy lol
BSJ u r really amazing and straight bro
BSJ you have the Balkans in your blood
Meanwhile me who doesn't know what tango does :

Video for my bracket! I was guardian 1 at 850 week ago and now tilted down to 500 mmr...F
Same. I dropped from 990 to 600. I don’t like to play the blame game, but ppl in my bracket just can’t play as a team.
@@etofok I don’t think my problem is farming or mechanics. Its the team. Everyone does whatever they want. Thats why I stopped ranking and only play parties with friends.

In SEA server, the carry's laning stage ends at the 5th minute or so 😂, that is the time the mid laners get their Ultimate skill, and boom, the entropy takes over dota 😂
yeah agreed
Does pushing the lane and farming the big camp also apply for offlane or no?
I am 1.8k and I still can learn from this. Such a learning curve
I got respect for this dude, getting a coaching session despite being at the bottom of the trench. That kind of attitude is how you climb. I appreciate BSJ imparting actionable concepts to work on in the meantime instead of focusing on the obvious.

BSJ can we get a personal ranking system that dose not rate you based on the other 4 in the game that feed and throw, coming from some one that has a 6k account and a 760 account
the 6k is a cake walk ppl know how to play the game is fun kinda like Dota 1 in player skill.
the 700 MMR games are filled with so much garbage you cant climb trying to carry 4 ppl feeding or afk farming.
Judge Jamma! I dont want to be the toxic guy here but for ppl like me should we even try and lvl an alt account and get it ban for smurfing or should we just buy one at our mmr . ?
Why he is asking players to get counter strike in dota? And how am I supposed to get counter strike in DOTA?
When is this video's Part 2 Coming Sir!
the problem with the trench is that once you got good score a few games then the matchmaking system will match u agaisnt smurfs team while you are matched with legit herald player then you gonna win lose win lose win lose and you just stuck there unless you are high level pro player you probably can escape other wise only a few rank up you can get. i got more than 20 kills and less than 5 deaths then the next game im with legit herald agaisnt smurfs team always happen
make sure you avoid getting DDoSed since there's not much you can do about that.
He plays better than 2k mmr i've seen
37:26 This guy thinks way too much. I know his type - it impacts all of his life, not just DOTA.
He is asked a basic question and tries to leap ahead mentally and answer WHY he thinks he is being asked this question. As well he posits his own answer...as opposed to a direct and accurate answer to the actual question, followed by humble silence whilst you wait for your coach to respond and explain. He might be used to being the smartest person in the room. But eventually the world opens up and you are a small fish.
Bro! You are an intelligent man living in the First World, you can have it all (God willing). Just temper yourself. GL!
Simple question. If you have to choose between getting a lh on melee creep or deny on range creep. Which one?
Range creep?
When denies gave you gold it was worth it to deny the range
always get the lh
The tiny mistake was he was pushing lot being a safe laner u get extra armour under tower u r not a pos3 u r pushing like a pos3 . U dnt need a stick upgrade it was wrong item u need more utility farm camps till 9 mins if u r safelane... It will boost ur confidence
couldn't find a second part, is there one?
