From the concert: La Femme Vaillante: Reviving the Remarkable Musical Legacy of Augusta Holmès (Mélodie and Lecture)
Nineteenth century Parisian composer, Augusta Holmès, was famous during her lifetime. She was both highly admired and criticized for composing large scale works, as this was considered “masculine” and inappropriate for a woman. Despite her colossal achievements, she is rarely talked about today. Hope you enjoy this snippet of the full concert, which consisted of many of works by Holmès.
