I’m glad you made this video. A lot of other videos get me really discouraged that I’m gonna have remortgage my house in order to get a beautiful tank. Your videos give me confidence, please keep making them!
Ur totally right and it’s annoying honestly you see so many people online that must be rich because average everyday people like me do it over time on a budget.
I have found that so many experienced reef keepers DO use tap water. If a reef keeper used "zero TSD" water you have the advantage of controlling where you start with dosing and what not and if chasing numbers is your game knock yourself out and if you start with zero nutrients in your water of course you will have to add to have any success. I am a saltwater hobbyist but because of this channel I am now a hat shaping enthusiast and a why is that tractor engine in that truck guy lol. fun Channel keep them coming @Btuff!

I mean glad things are working out for ya. I see plenty algae and I'd bet tap has something to do with it. But I have the sps and I know I wouldn't be able to keep em with tap. Well at least my tap at 400+ tds. But softies and few easy lps I guess whynot. Not personally for me tho. I'm no hater tho so in the end just want to see still looks pretty nice. Id work hard on that algae but just me. I have some bubble algae im dealing with myself so meh lol
@@btuff i think nitrates/ phosphates and minerals is the main thing people stress over. "Algea is bad m'kay" I keep planted freshwater tanks tho, with the right fish you will never see the unsightly stuff. Your corals and such probably actually appreciate the minerals and nitrogen in the tap as opposed to ro. Between that and your sealab tablets its obviously working great for you.
The reef is beautiful, however, your reef is made up of mostly soft corals, LPS, and very hardy Montis... nothing wrong with that, but you wouldn’t be able to grow sensitive acropora or other sps corals with the way you run this reef. Which isn’t a bad thing at all. It’s nice to see a successful low maintenance beautiful reef

Please don't promote not testing your tank. It may work for you with soft corals and some lps. But for the new reefer ot is not gonna lead them down a path for success
I disagree. I have many planted tanks and a reef, and I don’t test for anything anymore. I think that too much testing can lead to chasing water parameters. Stability is king so if there is nothing actually going on, no need to test. When I doubt, water change.
It’s not for everyone, but I’ve duplicated this multiple times for a lot of years. If you start to see the corals or fish falling off, testing is in order with this style of reefing.
This tank is nice and it works for BTUFF but its also a mature tank. A new reefer who sets up a new tank with Tap water and does not test will have tons of algae and won't be in the hobby for long.
@@ReefingwithO If I had a gob of live rock, deep sand bed, once cured it would follow suit. I've done this multiple times. I'm not saying testing isn't warranted with new tanks, but they become self sufficient pretty quick with a DSB and ample live rock.
