Can tinnitus along with the hyperacusis caused by stress and anxiety heal over time? I'm having really trouble with these symptoms and it affects my day to day live very much. Please help 🙏
Jim, 🫣 I think what I might have going on is “reactive tinnitus” instead of the regular tinnitus along with the hyperacusis. My distortions happen when I hear sound- Like the fridge running, the rain, my car, a lawnmower the ac, the tv, radio, etc. That’s when I hear the awful sounds. Like a car going by having a whistle with it, the ac having a high pitch ring to it, certain songs on the radio, my faucet rings, etc. So would the same acceptance rules apply that you told me if mine is reactive tinnitus as it would regular tinnitus and hyperacusis? Because I think mine is reactive tinnitus mixed with some hyperacusis. I hear the rings and whistles when I hear things make sound and I think The sounds are what’s causing my tinnitus to happen. So if I’m in a quiet room I don’t hear any of it really, that I can tell. Only when things run or make sounds. So do I still need to just ACCEPT the sounds along with the hyperacusis loudness to make this go away? Most people mask their tinnitus with sound however mine is worse because it’s reacting only to the sounds. I’m still trying to contain my reaction and accept it as you told me but I was wondering if it being reactive tinnitus would make a difference. Are you familiar with that type tinnitus or have you experienced that kind with your auditory anxiety hearing symptoms before also? Would this all still be from hyperstimulation if it’s reactive tinnitus mixed with hyperacusis?? Thanks Jim, I’m Waiting your reply especially now having somewhat more of a way to describe what’s going on with me because it seems it’s reactive tinnitus & hyperacusis. 🙏🏼

Hello. I was a healthy fit 31 year old male who had no medical issues until i was diagnosed with chronic pelvic pain syndrome ~4 months ago. Ok. Hi Vic. There are lots of reasons to be hopeful. Many people have eliminated tinnitus, including me. To better answer your request, what type of blockage did you have?
@@anxietycentre apparently it was eustachian tube blockage. Started in right ear moved to left now I have developed sensitivity. I'm a highly anxious person and have panic attacks on a regular basis now. I think I may have worsened my condition over time but I'm just not coping. It's tough. Have had brain CT scan MRI scan temporal bone CT scan and all good. I have suffered sinus issues for many years but sinus CT scan didn't reveal anything too serious. I'm starting to believe my chronic anxiety has caused this. I'm also perimenopausal. Doc says nothing to do with my condition. I'm trying to be positive but losing hope. This has ruined my life. Thank you for taking time to reply.
Hi Vic Vic! I agree with you. It sounds more like anxiety-caused stress has caused the tinnitus. Therefore, you should be able to get rid of it by working on your anxiety and reducing stress. Stressing about the tinnitus can certainly cause it to persist. Therefore, there are lots of reasons to be hopeful. Many anxious people have had that symptom and eliminated it by working on their anxiety and stress, including me.
We explain why tinnitus develops here: www.anxietycentre.com/anxiety-disorders/symptoms/ringing-in-the-ears/ Many anxious and stressed people get that symptom and eliminate it when they do their recovery work. I encourage you to watch the other videos about tinnitus, especially this one: ua-cam.com/video/Kv64aGQqHWw/v-deo.html
Jim I’m still having a high pitched ringing in my right ear/head. It happened when I took that one Zoloft and hasn’t went away yet. I’m getting a bit worried that it might not leave now since that Zoloft pill seemed to have brought it on. It’s almost been 3 weeks, it’s been out of my system. 😔
It's highly unlikely one Zoloft has done any harm. It's more likely your worrying about your symptoms is what is causing them to persist. I know it can be difficult to forget about them and let them resolve on their own, but that's what we have to do if we want our stress to diminish enough to eliminate symptoms.
@@anxietycentre yes you might be right bc once I notice it, it’s so hard not to pay attention to any of it. I was reading that some People like me and you had Dysacusis which causes sound distortions also from loud music exposure. I did listen to music somewhat louder before all this happened. So based off our knowledge Jim, how do I know which one I have? Hyperacusis or dysacusis, with possible tinnitus. They all scare me because I’m 4 months in but I’ve worked hard at ignoring it. People on tinnitus talk said they had this Dysacusis sound distortion with tinnitus for years and it scares me that it’s not something working on anxiety will get rid of and I’ve been working hard on my anxiety and stress to come down not to panic 🥴
It's unlikely yours is caused by loud music. I played in a loud rock band for years and it didn't affect my hearing. My tinnitus was caused by stress. One of the main reasons people get stuck with symptoms long-term is because they worry about them. Learning not to worry about them makes the difference.
@@anxietycentre what about the sound distortions?? the distortions I have tho sound like what those people on tinnitus talk describe- ringing, whistling, extra layers of sound on things and said it was from dysacusis.- distortion from loud sound exposures. That worried me reading it bc they sound like me with their symptoms And they all said stay away from loud sounds to let it heal? plus now I have it in my ears/head that I didn’t have before my Zoloft pill but I do know you said you had it all also. Your familiar with the word dysacusis?? Wow I didn’t know you were in a rock band. That’s cool!!! I didn’t listen to that loud concert wise but I did Play loud music on boom box speakers or in my car often. I’m scared it won’t go back to normal. It’s been 4 months Jim. But I am not as anxious as I was. I’m not seeing any differences yet? Not that I can tell . Mainly still distortions to sounds, and now this ear/head ringing that sounds very high pitched like an electrical signal. How does this all go away? I feel like I’ve been content with my worrying and I’ve lowered my anxiety drastically and still don’t see much of a difference, Jim 😔
Because there are many variables associated with recovery, there isn't a "one-size-fits-all" answer to that question. As such, it will vary from person to person and based on how faithful they are in doing their recovery work.

This part happened to you also? If I continue accepting the sounds like this it will subside and go away you still think, yes? This is not something wrong with how my brain is processing sounds?? Just trying to make sure I wouldn’t need to see a neurologist for this? My own whistle or blowing air from my mouth is not how it usually sounds. 😏
Hello. I was a healthy fit 31 year old male who had no medical issues until i was diagnosed with chronic pelvic pain syndrome ~4 months ago. This created severe anxiety and resulted me to have mild hyperacusis 1 month ago (mainly agitation to sudden sounds, fear of extremely loud noises) and slight tinnitus in one of my ears.
I am working on my anxiety/stress/desensitisation. Is there any hope?
Absolutely. We see people eliminate it all the time. No reason to worry.
@@anxietycentre thank you for your response🙏🏽. I am trying extremely hard not to be hyper vigilant to my HRTTS symptoms. But is there anything else i can do? I am finding it extremely hard to live a normal life as i have been having an avoidance behaviour
Without knowing more, I can't be more specific. Have you thought of connecting with one of our recommended therapists for more information?
@@anxietycentre i would love to do that. I will check your website oit
@@anxietycentre which person will be best to guide me through prostatitis and hyperacusis related anxiety?
Exactly
Hi I have tinnitus caused by anxiety am now working with mental health services do you have any advice. Thanks Craig.
We have an article about anxiety-caused tinnitus here:
www.anxietycentre.com/anxiety-disorders/symptoms/ringing-in-the-ears/
And a lot of information about it in the Recovery Support area, including many SKYPE Discussion sessions about it.
@@anxietycentre Thank you it's all making sense unfortunately am on meds for the Anxiety as it was left to get out of control I got No help here in Ireland, not one bit apart from about 5 different pills for Anxiety.
Jim, how long did it take for you to overcome TINNITUS and hypercausis?? It's been 15 months now and I'm slowly going insane.
Since each body will react uniquely to chronic stress, and because there are so many recovery variables, it's a mistake to try and gauge your recovery to someone else's. Are you working with one of our recommended therapists? If so, for how long?
Ok. You can get connected with one of our recommended therapists via our Make Appointment form here: www.anxietycentre.com/therapy/appointment/
Yes, many anxious and stressed people get jaw and neck pain and tension. The jaw pain is often from clenching and neck tension and pain are often due to stress-caused muscle tension. I had a lot of that during my struggle with anxiety.
@@vicvic1892 How are you now?
@@vicvic1892 I know what you mean. Hyperacusis too. Have you considered st john's wort to take the edge off
@@vicvic1892 Excuse me, do you have hyperacusis? Does your tinnitus get louder with normal sounds?
I have suffered from this hideous condition for over one year. Yes, I do suffer from chronic anxiety but this started with a blockage apparently. I now have developed noise sensitivity. I am thinking of suicide on a regular basis. It's a hideous condition and no doc can help. Pls help me
@@anxietycentre yes, but I don't understand why I have developed strange sensations in my ears and pain to certain sounds??? Not coping
We explain why tinnitus develops here: www.anxietycentre.com/anxiety-disorders/symptoms/ringing-in-the-ears/
Many anxious and stressed people get that symptom and eliminate it when they do their recovery work. I encourage you to watch the other videos about tinnitus, especially this one:

@@anxietycentreloud music can absolutely cause it
How much time it took to heal hyperacusis
Because there are many variables associated with recovery, there isn't a "one-size-fits-all" answer to that question. As such, it will vary from person to person and based on how faithful they are in doing their recovery work.
How much time it took you,to heal your hyperacusis
It took me about two years before I was symptom-free.
