    Would have been nice if UA-cam recommended me this. Nearly crashed today three times in arrow
    1. Nealy overshot and went up a berm.
    2. Nearly fell of a berm as I was about to hit the end of it while still at a angle.
    2. Nearly crashed because I didn't see ramp which was flush with it's surroundings.

  • @fillfreakin2245
    @fillfreakin2245 Рік тому +1

    What is actually happening in the "bad" example is you are getting off before you have come to a full stop. The bike has stopped, but your body still has forward momentum as you step off the pedal.
    You are correct in saying a rider needs to properly modulate the brakes to stop safely. Alternatively, when braking hard, you need to move your center of gravity back. No need to awkwardly dismount to the back of the bike. Especially on a downhill: moving your weight off the back will lead to your front wheel losing grip which could end badly.

    • @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire
      @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire  Рік тому

      Absolutely Fill, watch my other longer tutorials and you’ll understand this even more.
      I am stepping off AFTER I have come to a full stop. That is the whole skill here. YES there is need for this skill. Because step forward and you’ll get hurt. If you believe I am still moving watch it again and you’ll see the bike is stopped before I move rearwards actively. Before that, I am fully balanced over the bottom bracket.

    • @fillfreakin2245
      @fillfreakin2245 Рік тому +1

      @@Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire I'm not sure what you're trying to say. I am agreeing with you that you must come to a full stop. And you are - in the part where you dismount to the back. But at the start where you say "if this happens to you" and you step off to the front, you keep walking forward. This is because you still have forward momentum. If you came to a full stop, it's much safer leaning the bike one side or the other and stepping off to the side. Then your body weight is not divided between your toes and the handlebar - a very dangerous situation on a steep downward slope. On the side you can put your weight firmly on your full foot, not on your toes. You can also see where you place your foot.

      Yes I have and I commented on that one too. You seem to be doubling down on promoting this dangerous way to dismount on a downhill. Don’t use both brakes, in some way yes, but, use 100% of the right one and brake and release, brake and release the left one.
    I'm just saying, if you're a beginner and don't want to eat up a piece of land, better practice in controlled environments.

    • @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire
      @Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire  Рік тому +1

      Unfortunately that is the most dangerous and most limiting advice to do as you said. 🙁
      Pulsing the brakes will bring so much turbulence into your system and each time you release the front, you’ll basically have no braking power and hence accelerate, because your rear brake has almost no braking power.
      The front brake is only dangerous if locked. If it’s modulated, it’s your best friend! If pulsed, the chance to look is super high.
      As a full time coach and international instructor trainer I can guarantee you - you do as you said and you will hit a plateau very very soon. As soon as you enter steep, loose stuff if you’ve automatized that, you’ll eat dirt 😞😞😞
      Please do not pass this on to anyone, Alejandro, and practice this: ua-cam.com/video/GYbEde7ALe8/v-deo.html
      If you’d like to take your riding to the next level, do check out www.roxybike-coaching.com where you’ll also find a free Trackstand course.

    In real world applications, this technique is poor in terms of reaction time and muscle memory to do this instinctively.
    Better to to dump the bike on its side especially if your eyes are looking further down the trail and you need to react immediately when alert to the danger of falling or flipping over.
    And before you answer Roxy about scratching up the bike, parts can be changed and better to walk away with a graze as opposed to serious injury that could stop you riding.
