I always preferred the original GBA's form factor over the SP's. Wish it included a backlit screen. Some other great obscure games/JRPG's I would def. recommend include... - Riviera: The Promised Land - Summon Night: Swordcraft Story - Yygdra Union - Megaman Battle Network 3 (This one has the best soundtrack in the series)
Well done mini doc! Keep going man, I think you are on to something here with the direction your channel is heading. Just one suggestion - For future videos I'd recommend cleaning up some the more worn gear you are showing, it'll look more professional for the close-up shots.
I disagree , leave your original hardware the way it is , adds grit and authenticity I liked it. If you had newer versions or custom made ones then maybe. Great video
the lack of any kind of screen light was brutal - I thought there was something wrong with mine when I bought it - but mine got stolen which gave me an excuse to buy an SP which completely solved the problem!
I’ve always preferred the sp since it has a backlight, after buying a regular gba and Kirby and the amazing mirror. I thought I’d give it another try. I finally get it lmao. I just need a backlight on my regular gba and it’s perfect lmao
I liked owning an SP a lot as a kid, as well. But I do prefer the form factor of the original, so I’m probably putting mine into a Boxy Pixel case with an IPS screen.
@ I definitely wanna do that too! I unfortunately missed out on gba completely as a kid(02) and started out on the ds lite. So going back and collecting all these games and consoles is so much fun!
Gba is cool for sure. Its library lacks a little bit, but it was in that smiliar down turn as the gamecube, after the sucvess of the nes and snes, but the gameboy had dominated the past 3 years before the gba came out and it course had pokemon games.i always thought they did a disservice by leaving pokemon on the handheld for all those years until the switch. I still do wish that nintendo would open a secondary studio that would operate in handheld conditions or with limitations and basicly be a secondary, first party offering that makes the kinds of games we dont see anymore. Why nintendo kr sony or xbox only remakes or remasters games is beyond me. If nintendo had a retro direct, and they said 'weve made a new studio of 50 ppl, heres a new nes style game weve created" itd sell huge. They could and should still be making snes style games. Back then, dev teams of 7,9,14 people made alot of the great games of those eras. Something like mario maker is still cool, but if we saw an inside studioo make one it would do so well. They should still be trying to make semi janky wii style games. Sony should still be making PS1 style games
what does every gameboy you show have crust and shit on it, and has some sort of screen burn or other issue? You can work wonders filming like that and having clean or near mint handhelds.
GBA games were great but the console was pretty awful until the SP. I just picked up an IPS modded original GBA and you now what - the screen it soo small. So I am glad to have it in my collection but I will not play my GBA games on it. I play the games on a DS/3DS device now after using a DS Lite to dump them. If you want to play GBA games today - get an Analogue Pocket or dump them to ROM so you can play on another device.
@@GrooveSpaceArk are you telling me the "batteries" at 3:10 sound natural? And the batteries after that? And the gamegear footage in the beginning, which is a video of a video on a tv of gamegear being played... i dont have to watch the rest of the video. Now maybe this is a real guy, but you should know for your own sake that ai can and do make up people that look 100% real on video. Plenty of examples on the net.
Close ups of a broke ass display and crust and dirt everywhere has me crackin up
I had to stop watching. The poor lighting and busted hardware were grating.
pun intended?
This guy will have a lot of views in days. You will see!
Hoping for the best!
incredible documentary bro.. beautiful...
Thank you!

I bought Gameboy Advance, and it's great piece of hardware! I moded it, adding new IPS display and shell. I love this look and ergonomy!
nice man, I put an IPS screen in a GB Advance SP, but it's not as comfortable to hold
how does this only have 100 views??? So well made dude

Thank you for the feedback! I’ll keep that in mind for future videos.

Your Mini Documentaries are just amazing man!! I've watch every single one of them so far and will watch the upcoming ones as well!!
Thanks so much! I hope you keep enjoying them.
I love my micro,
I think it was les popular because it released after the DS which can also play GBA games.
I’m sure that’s part of the reason why it wasn’t so popular. But I think the Micro is great!
Good job there d00d! I hope this gets a crap ton of views so you can buy a replacement screen for your GBA bro!
Haha, let’s hope I can do that at some point!
i love that you use old crusty broken ass consoles for your B-roll its such an amazing subtle change from every other VG doc
This was a pretty funny comment. But I’m starting to think that maybe I should swap the screen 😅 it looks a lot worse in video than it does in person.
@franciscoferreiravlogs it looks horrible and basically unplayable and it's hilarious and I love it and it's perfect 👌 👍 🥰
Game library was stellar, so many bangers, the SP had a better screen but I found GBA more comfortable to hold
If you swap the screen of the original with that of the gba sp, you get the best model. It even has better battery life with the sp screen.

Nice video, music can be too loud though.
Thanks for the heads up! I’ll be more careful.
Sounds fine to me.
That gba has been thru it
The biggest question I have is why it took so long before nintendo started using 4 face buttons instead of just 2.
It's still fantastic

I have a modded GBA it is one of the best designed consoles ever
Horizontal handheld supremacy. Original GBA and micro are just great.

That’s totally fair. I want to get an Analogue Pocket (and even 3D) to eventually make videos on them.
Nice Video ! Sub & Big Like ! Love Retro Gba Games !
Original GBA with modded backlit screen is the definitive way to play now, but im a purist so I dont think im going to mod mine.
Before I even start watching the video…yes, completely, 1000%. It’s all that & a bag of takis.
No, gbc was better, advance had mid games
You look like Mexican singer Xavi lol
Tuga?
Are you brazilian?
I’m Dominican. But my family has Portuguese roots.
Gameboy micro was my favorite gameboy by a lot. Take away the shitty faceplates it’s the most premium gameboy
Please make a video on how you fixed and upgraded that broke ass GBA.
Gameboy cartridges suck.
The AI voiceover is not good.
The answer is NO. But the sp was
sp had a better screen, but GBA was way easier to hold comfortably , especially if you have long fingers or bigger hands
The original GBA was the best design, it's screen was designed to be played on the go, outside, the GBA SP was aimed at home users
@@valley_robot it's crazy the original GBA is almost 40 years old & most of them still work, just throw in 4 AA batteries
Terrible AI video, dont bother watching. Your eyes, ears, and time deserve better than this AI slop.
I’m not AI. It’s just my voice.
Sure, if you are an ai lol. The stilted narrator is dead giveaway, and some of the weird b roll is the icing on the cake.
Dude you even see him speaking
