It's a collective effort for exposure. It really is that simple. Pay back for hyping them. We should have broken the glass ceiling with this track before Plant got it. js ✌️
Such a beautiful song. Mimi’s harmonies are beyond compare. She died of ovarian cancer. I have spent much of my life in cancer research. We’re getting better. But, damn I wish we could have been in time to save this beautiful voice. My sympathies Alan.
The first time I heard Low was in 2013 right after my son died . Beautiful , haunting, song that sounded like it came from my son's soul. I absolutely love their music even tho it makes me cry. RIP Mimi Parker. Thank u for beautiful music
Simply put, regardless of what you believe in particular, this is about the thing that brings you to unity through forgiveness and ultimately - love. You’re not trying as hard as you need to.
By the end of their first song that night, I was sobbing. Short, but so powerful and beautiful, stark, but soothing. A sublime experience. Then the guy behind me says "hey buddy, chill. They're just tuning up." - A Low joke
Low music helped me feel through previous loss but also primed me for future loss. It just sounds so much like what losses I experienced younger and then all the more adult losses /deaths or impending deaths I have known as an older person at this point. I am really grateful to an old friend for introducing me to Low in my 20’s. It never becomes irrelevant , even almost 20 years later.
I wish Cue the Strings comments weren’t turned off . That song always is a friend when I hear someone’s died , or was there for the death, or they were told they are going to die soon possibly , or I worry about the future in general in terms of loss of life.
This album really helped me get through some tough times when I went on a spacewalk without a tether and then my space capsule got destroyed and I was adrift in space in just my spacesuit for a while
yes and always yes. At the risk of it sounding like a name-drop (i.e. \"I was there when\"), when they played at the black cat in DC in 2010 it was I believe, by the end of the show I found myself in tears (nearly weeping). What a tremendous band, what tremendous contribution to sub-culture and what immense giving to music (as rarely as they are heard)
I found this in an interview Mimi Parker gave to the online magazine Mojo: ====== After all those words that have labelled Low down the years - slowcore, Mormon, married, quiet - she hits upon the one that fits best. “It’s miraculous.”
@@dbadagna I had no idea she just passed away. What a horrible loss. I didn't read your comment properly at first. Edited my response: Obscene is the word. I don't know how one sees "miracle" in this. This is a song about total failure, of a specific kind. A total failure to come close to the beauty of what is perceived. A humbling that is simultaneously a breaking of the knees
I wouldn't call them a shoegaze band, not enough guitars and distortion for that. The were a big part of pioneering the slowcore genre though. MBV will forever be the shoegaze kings.
+yolatreacy I love your comment, "too much minimalism." So unintentionally hilarious. LOW is all about minimalism, especially their early stuff. Gorgeous harmonies and minimalism. It's not for everybody. :)
Low’un Türkiye’ye geleceği iptal oldu yaklaşık bi iki ay önce, üzülsem de buradan da çok güzel şarkılarını dinleyebiliyorum. Çok iyi iş çıkarmışlar! Türkler de dinler Low’u!
Low's original version is more powerful and sincere to me. But well, appreciate that a guy like him appreciate their music enough to make covers. They deserve the recognition.
Real wonderful song, I am afraid people are too hurried nowadays to enjoy this (s)low kind of beautiness to the full. By the way, Robert Plant did a wonderful job to cover this song and 'Monkey', also from Low. I think these are the best covers from his new album.
To me he added some commercialism that I really don't hope Low pick up. Don't get me wrong I appreciate that a guy like him appreciate Low's music enough to cover it, cause it is truly unique and deserves recognition. His version is just not my cup of tea and doesn't have the power and sincereness of Low's original version.
Man, Low knew how to write some epic slow shit. "Nothing but Heart" was more like "nothing but 8 minutes of repeating my *** off", but it's without a doubt one of my favorite songs of all time, along with this. Damn nice job
I agree... that repetitive vibe they pull off magically. Different style...but if you like those 2 songs.. check out the ending to 'bleeding heart show' by new pornographers. EPIC ENDING. (whole song is great too) cheers
@bigairred Ive discovered low because of plant, and im loving them, i think plant treated the band and its work with great respect. I think plant acted fine, but maybe didnt look for the low fans. (just my guess though)
@spaceagedevice sure, but unfortunately he can't get to the gorgeous harmonies of Low anymore - still, he works with what he's got and great that he covered it!
Robert and Band of Joy did not copy the song, they covered two Low songs and they were credited. There's a difference between copy and cover. Most every band _covers_ songs. Big difference.
IF PLANT DID THIS SONG I CAN SEE WHY ITS REALY A FANTASTIC SONG AND IM ONLY HALF WAY THROUGH IT AND I CAN TELL A GOOD SONG WHEN I HERE ONE . NOT A HARD DRUM BEAT LIKE A SPIRITUAL SONG SHOULD BE .
Robert Plant copied this tune, it wasn't a cover. Don't get me wrong, he did a good version. It's just that I'm of the opinion that, if you cover a song, you make it your own in some way. His version is almost a facsimile. Same can be said for his take on Monkey. The fact that he didn't says a lot about the originals. I adore Low. I love that Mr Plant even knows who they are. It's great that a few more folk will know they exist thanks to Bob. Just make it your own next time please.
Honestly I don't like it. Don't get me wrong I appreciate that a guy like him appreciate Low's music enough to cover it, cause it is truly unique and deserves recognition, it's just that Low's original version is more powerful and sincere to me.

those guys should be writing songs for plant, full time, instead of wasting their energy on recording it themselves...plant always does it just the same as they do....but better...
You are so wrong about this. Low are an amazing band and if there was any justice in the world, they would be as famous as Robert Plant. Alan Sparhawk is a phenomenal songwriter, which Robert Plant clearly understands.
Oh dear god. Plant’s version is like 95% of his post-Zep music: unremarkable and completely forgettable. Low’s version is haunting in ways Plant hasn’t been able to capture in nearly 50 years
I can't believe it's been a decade since I uploaded this song and that it hasn't been removed yet. Hopefully I'll see you in 2030.

RIP Mimi, thank you for your incredible voice.
RIP Mimi Parker & thank you for the music.

So simple and so beautiful I can hardly stand to listen to it...
what a beautiful comment; I have never had that feeling but how beautifully put
I know
R.I.P. MIMI PARKER lost to us on 5/11/22
I had forgotten about this song until I heard she died today. RIP
"She passes through you like a knife."
Yeah, I know that feeling.
the duet of Mimi and Alan on this song is otherwordly. Missing Mimi so much.
By the end of their first song that night, I was sobbing. Short, but so powerful and beautiful, stark, but soothing. A sublime experience. Then the guy behind me says "hey buddy, chill. They're just tuning up."

God what a beautiful song. I'd never heard it before, but tonight's episode of Rectify had the song playing at the end of the episode.
6912ss omg I was just about to say Rectify brought me here!
Me too beautiful song and series
Same here. The most beautiful song in the midst of the most beautiful love scene in all TV.
same, five years late or maybe ten
Agreed. Just hearing this song now which was in a very hot episode of Rectify. Beautiful!
I like that it's followed by 3 and a half minutes of silence to allow you to compose yourself before listening to something else.
less than 3 minutes into the song and I already need to compose myself
Goodbye Mimi…RIP…
RIP Mimi
This song will ALWAYS be part of my life experience....thank you Mimi...the march is over...you now know more than the voice...

I just discovered this song, the fact that i'm still discovering amazing songs after all this time gives me hope!
This album really helped me get through some tough times when I went on a spacewalk without a tether and then my space capsule got destroyed and I was adrift in space in just my spacesuit for a while
This ethereal somberness of melancholy bliss etched in timeless end that can never come back. Pure beatitude!
Wish I love your comment a thousand times
Low is wonderful. I’m so grateful I grew up with KEXP playing them.
Mimi Parker is our love
This is one of those songs that got me to where I am.
2020 and still listen to this song
11/09/2023 ❤️🙏
RIP Mimi
Beautiful song from beautiful show.
absolutely
This is one powerful song, I feel like I have had some kind of experience after playing along with it.
You should really experience Low's "Things We Lost In The Fire"
yes and always yes. Love these guys. Got to meet Alan twice and he gave me some really good advice I badly needed. Amazing art and amazing people.

I love this so much.

My favorite LOW song is When I Go Deaf
You are my hope... you are my Happiness... your words and music are Beautiful... to me.
came to this via Plant - beautiful, will check out Low, never heard them before ;(
Check out “ When I Go Deaf”. By Low
magnifico!!

Plant did a great job on this song, but thats not to take away how good this is.
Low's original version is more powerful and sincere to me. But well, appreciate that a guy like him appreciate their music enough to make covers. They deserve the recognition.
Yeah I really like Plant's versions of Monkey and Silver Rider. But I will always know these tracks as Low songs.
I 100 % agree. It's Low all the way for me. No comparison.
Perfection.
Just discovered due to autoplay and now I can’t stop. Thanks UA-cam.
very cool
john darko got me here and God I love this song!👍

super planant , ça me rappelles la fin des années 70
Tawney and David dancing Scene ;)
Plant caught the ethereal beauty of the song adding a new suspended dream vocal line-Transcendent.
To me he added some commercialism that I really don't hope Low pick up. Yeah^^
just about epic.
Shiva= The Great Destroyer
cool album
5:08-8:25 is the best part lulx
22.11. ☁☁☁🔥☁
You know when I first heard these guys I immediately wanted to know who the hell the female vocalist was. 🤟
Low should cover Flesh and the Power it Holds, that's something I'd pay to see.
are you still alive? if you are then why would a slow core band cover a death song? LOL not gonna lie sounds like a cool idea

@BillyMacQ
i love the original tunes, a bit frozen, and the covers , ghosty
long life to robert plant.

Ive discovered low because of plant, and im loving them, i think plant treated the band and its work with great respect.

@daven58100 they are awesome
@spaceagedevice sure, but unfortunately he can't get to the gorgeous harmonies of Low anymore - still, he works with what he's got and great that he covered it!
This is great.i love it.robert and the gang are known for copying things.
Robert and Band of Joy did not copy the song, they covered two Low songs and they were credited. There's a difference between copy and cover. Most every band _covers_ songs. Big difference.
Chances are, white people like the members of Low could potentially retain lawyers unlike old Black men playing the Blues.
😂
@bigairred This is true. still i find the plant version to be different slightly. Obviously there are very distinct similarities.
Without music, why even live?
Reminds me of Snape and Lily. Strange.
Excellent Album.
Everyone should be exposed to Everybody's Song and think a little.
.
I like this version, but I give Robert Plant and the Band of Joy for covering this. I prefer the vocals to be softer. It fits in with the lyrics.
IF PLANT DID THIS SONG I CAN SEE WHY ITS REALY A FANTASTIC SONG AND IM ONLY HALF WAY THROUGH IT AND I CAN TELL A GOOD SONG WHEN I HERE ONE . NOT A HARD DRUM BEAT LIKE A SPIRITUAL SONG SHOULD BE .

nominated for the grammys?

@carbineautomatic I was referring to Plant
bet Low will get a lot of exposure from Robert Plant covering this great band. At least they get the respect they deserve.
I have to admit....I am not exposed to great music like this very often. But thank you for your comments and insight
I like robert plant's version
Honestly I don't like it. Don't get me wrong I appreciate that a guy like him appreciate Low's music enough to cover it, cause it is truly unique and deserves recognition, it's just that Low's original version is more powerful and sincere to me.
Jesus loves you. Amen.
Listen to Robert Plant's version WOW
LOL at the total hack Robert Plant.
NEBER. NEBER. NEBER. NEBER.
HAHAHHA.
sux
Sorry Low but I like Plant's version more
