You ought to listen to more of the Bay City Rollers. Songs like shang-a-lang and I only want to be with you and Saturday night and Summer Love sensation and keep on dancing and so much more.

You're the first reactor I've seen that's posted one for the bay city rollers. I've never subscribed to someone's channel so fast in my years on here.

I graduated in 1975. Love BCR. Sadly, Alan and Leslie have passed away now.

Takes me back to grade school. The Bay City Rollers are from Scotland and they got their name by throwing a dart at a map and landed on Bay City, Michigan. Another song by them is Saturday night.

The Bay City Rollers were essentially "bubblegum music", a category of music that was initially aimed at the younger crowd because it was usually clean of any innuendo and was upbeat and happy. Even though those original audiences have long ago grown up, there is still something endearing about bubblegum music, which is why songs like this are still fun today (in moderation).
Some other bubblegum music you might enjoy:
    "Sugar Sugar" The Archies
"Heartbeat (It's A Lovebeat)" DeFranco Family
    "Chewy Chewy" Ohio Express
"1-2-3 Red Light" 1910 Fruitgum Co.
    "Dizzy" Tommy Roe
"Mony Mony" Tommy James & The Shondells

I am a BCR fan and obviously people have not really listened to alot of their songs...like Give it to Me Now (ua-cam.com/video/uVsgcGeIE2E/v-deo.html), Wouldn't You Like It (ua-cam.com/video/OWeTgu6-oVU/v-deo.html), etc. They evolved throughout the years. Maybe also listen to God Save Rock N Roll (ua-cam.com/video/ifOZOUkepE8/v-deo.html) and Yesterday's Hero or Doors Bars Metal (ua-cam.com/video/YaBcS5_zm-sf/v-deo.html), They were actually a Rock Band not bubble gum rock. And another fave of mine Rock N Roller (ua-cam.com/video/r7E70bZ9GZs/v-deo.html). The BCR were actually the inspiration and favorite band of other bands. An example is the Ramones were huge fans of the BCR and modeled their music via the BCR music.

This was a tame audience for the Rollers. Their concerts were chaotic and full of injuries. I saw them live in '77 and while they were likely crazier in '76, it was a wild concert! The most dangerous I've been to and I go mostly to punk/hardcore shows! Hah! Some of their music inspired early punk - whether people want to believe it or not. Sad that they are largely forgotten - I'm still a big fan especially of the songs they wrote themselves - but covers like this are also fantastic IMHO.

May well have been in Germany as they only sat and watched lol

The audience had probably sat through rehearsals and take-after-take that day before the final recording with a backing track playing the song. By this stage, the excitement over this super band would have lost its shine somewhat. If you watch footage of them playing live in concert back in their heyday the audience mainly consisting of teenage girls would have been going crackers, screaming, crying, etc.
They were a really tight band when playing live because they had been together for years playing some of the roughest clubs in Scottish towns and cities - they were also in gangs when they were growing up so were not to be messed with as many a jealous bloke found out after confronting them about the fact their girlfriend was besotted by the band. The bass guitarist was six foot three and they all had thick Glaswegian accents with the trash talk to boot.

Actually,i do agree with the similarity to Davy jones(Monkees) voice. It could also have something to do with the way vocals were mixed back then?
