Thanks Vince keep the video content flowing. Changed out mine on 86 MC Skier last fall. CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK at low speed in gear is bad springs on damper drive plate.
Can these damper place be reconditioned. I am dealing with a Stern power. Outdrive what's 900 horsepower and I'm having issues getting parts.. like the video easy to understand thank you
I hear what sounds like the damper plate problem but its only noticeable when out of water and using fake a lake. If i put boat in gear, out of water, I can hear the clanging noise, but in water it is not noticeable. Maybe because of resistance in water? Today at 40mph i heard a random clanking noise in the back. It was sporadic but every few seconds. If i slowed down some to say 30mph, no noise.
respectfully suggest were here to learn about a DAMPER PLATE and those of us capable of this job dont need the nuts/bolts on pulling a battery cable or starter. Damper plate issues please! Thanks for your video.
Vince, between my DAF615 engine and the Paragon transmission there's a damper plate. The springs are loose and rattlely after 34years when the boat was built. What wouldn't be best to do?

Do you have an estimate for a damper plate on a '97 gt40?
