Faith plates always give me the same amount of velocity, but because this mod simulates what resizing the world would be like, the gap that I have to cross becomes bigger.
@Sarah Christofferson You're assuming the faith plate stays the same. For example, despite being lighter, other props fling the same distance as the player. Or, if you have any amount of speed when stepping on a faith plate, it doesn't change where you end up. So that proves that the faith plate is set to fling you a certain distance no matter what, which would make sense in this context. It flings you the same distance, but the gap is bigger. Even in-lore, GLaDOS says that the faith plates have to be calibrated to certain weights.
Inverse faith plate scaling sounds great, it would look so funny if you were zooming by as this little ant and then basically just plummeted as you ballooned to the size of an elephant. Gotta say, this mod really makes me want a dedicated "Alice in Wonderland" styled first person puzzle game.
I think the plates should send you further when small, and less when big. If you're smaller, you're lighter, so the same amount of force would send you further.
Who said it's the same amount of force? Faith plates are calibrated to the subject's weight. They just... don't account for the gaps suddenly being wider.

That's... also not going to work. Droppers stop working if you fizzle the cube they have queued up, and lots of maps just don't have droppers. This would lead to softlocks. Either way, even without those issues, it would just be a slightly more annoying speedrun, quite boring. As with spawning things like gel, that gets old fast. I've done stuff like that plenty of times to be able to say so. You see, I usually don't like saying this because it might come off as rude, but most ideas anyone comes up with on the spot have either already been done, or they're gonna suck. I've been doing this for a couple of years now, you best bet I've already thought of all the simple stuff.

Genuine question, why do aerial faith plates launch you a short distance when you're small, and a long distance when you're big? Realistically, you'd have less drag and mass when small, letting the faith plate launch you further, right? Have I failed 9th grade physics?
@@goldencrepe yeah, IRL larger plate would overshot, and smaller plate would undershot but it's the opposite in-game due to value being used is distance, not force.

Being small simulates the world being big, thus, faith plates launch the same amount, but due to size, its actually seems shorter.
the scaling simulates the WORLD being big/small, not the PLAYER - so you're always moving the same distance, but the gap is physically further
