  • This is still considered a work-in-progress because I will probably find more video sources and I have to make a fully comprehensive list for the end credits. This is a multi-cam (cell phone) edit with a matrix of two sources for the audio of the last Monkees performance at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. I was at this show and almost brought in my Tascam recorder but it surely would have been confiscated by security. My son and I took some of the videos with our phones; the rest I've collected from UA-cam, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. and now I have to go back and find everybody's names so I can list them in the end credits which I'll get to on the next and probably final draft.
    Setlist:
    01. Good Clean Fun
    02. Last Train to Clarksville
    03. The Kind of Girl I Could Love
    04. Different Drum
    05. Sunny Girlfriend
    06. Mary, Mary
    07. You Just May Be the One
    08. For Pete's Sake
    09. Randy Scouse Git
    10. Love Is Only Sleeping
    11. Birth of an Accidental Hipster
    12. St. Matthew
    13. As We Go Along
    14. Pleasant Valley Sunday
    Intermission -
    15. Porpoise Song
    16. While I Cry
    17. Papa Gene's Blues
    18. The Girl I Knew Somewhere
    19. A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You
    20. Tapioca Tundra
    21. Auntie's Municipal Court
    22. Goin' Down
    23. Sweet Young Thing
    24. (I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone
    25. Daydream Believer
    26. Listen to the Band
    27. I'm a Believer
If any of you have any more video of this show, please feel free to contact me to make the ultimate version. This is the first draft of this show which was completed one month after on 2021/12/14.

These guys were the soundtrack of my youth. I watched, knowing this was the last time that Nesmith would perform these songs, and that he would be gone in less than a month. I was doing OK until Daydream Believer, and that's when my eyes started to fill. Nesmith left the stage knowing these people loved him.

Lost it on the remaining Monkees band members, singing Daydream Believer at 1:35. Happy and yet sad at my age 12 (in 1966) idols still reclaiming my favorite Monkees song.

The Monkees were on TV when I was born so when the reruns came on in the 70's. I became so infatuated with them and even joined Mickey's fan club that was still being run by his grandmother. They were my first favorite band. They are still in my heart. Blessings to all of their families and Mickey. May the gentlemen (Davy, Peter, and Mike) all be found in Heaven singing wonderful songs with the angels. ❤

So many people including my grandmother and father.. slowly wither away until they have physically and mentally faded away before the died. Davy Jones and Mike Nesmith were still fully functional and cognizant and performing right up until the time of their deaths. That is the way to go.

I'm 42 years old,and I am a Japanese who has been a Monkees fan for about 31 years.
I only had a chance to watch a live broadcast on Instagram last year, so it's a really precious video.
It's been almost a year since my beloved Mike died🤍

I was at the Greek Theater for the last Monkees concert. I didn't know that it was the last concert ever for the Monkees. The most touching moment for me at the the concert was when they were doing Daydream Believer. Everyone at the concert put on their flashlights on their phones. Mickey said ,Wow ! What a sight! Or something close to that. The whole audience started singing the song, including me! Mike and Mickey stopped singing. I looked at my best friend and we both had tears streaming down our faces! It was a special moment! So glad that I got to see them in their last concert at the Greek! Always loved them! They should definitely be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! They are icons! Love them!😎💖😀😄👍

Yeah, as you probably know by now, he could barely even stand up during this tour, but he somehow maintained his balance on the stage at every concert.
I haven't watched this whole video yet, and so far it looks like Micky isn't concerned about his balance, but you can see other clips on UA-cam in which Micky looks like he is ready to catch him.

I saw the Monkees in 2004, without Mike of course, at The Forum in San Francisco. They were still so good then every song sounded straight off the album, no exaggeration. Mickey and Davey's voices still sounded like when they were filming their show. Their backup band was dynamite and really gave punch to every song. I've been a huge Monkees fan since '66 when I watched their debut show and every one after that and grabbing every album when it hit the stores. But when seeing these latest tours the past few years I can't help thinking maybe they stretched it just a little too far. It's one thing when you can't quite hit some of those higher notes, but when you can't hit any and your voice is cracking and fading out and off key and you can't harmonize then it's pretty much time to refrain from dishonoring the music you did so famously well. And it certainly doesn't help that the backup band stinks. They sound like a bunch of neighborhood musicians practicing in the garage. Seriously, they're really lacking in the kind of sound Mike & Mickey were needing behind them to make up for what the guys weren't capable of anymore. For their final days and last concerts together I really wish they could have had a really worthy band like when I saw them 17 years ago.

He tried using a guitar in rehearsals but he could basically either do one or the other but not both at the same time so they stuck with the singing.

it might look great but given his frailty, having a guitar slung over his shoulder for 2 hours while standing up, night after night, would have been hard on him, i think, they can be pretty heavy, especially the larger models like he favoured.
Maybe he also found it hard to lift up & put it on and off his shoulder.
But yes maybe one or 2 songs, while sitting, that micky sung more of, might have been nice for him to do, one last time, especially since there were other guitarists as back up to take the pressure off him, & to help him manoeuvre the guitar around.
But i would assume they did think of all that though, tried things, & figured out what was best.

@@ericlapp72 i read somewhere that he was even worse at the start, only sitting, barely moving etc, but as the days went on, he seemed to gain some strength - probably feeling more geared up by the audience, but also the boost of 'exercise' from him having been sedentary for quite a while.

Let's face it, Mike didn't need money his mom invented Liquid Paper and sold the company for 47 million in 1979. He did this because he finally realized he missed his band.

Time to let The Monkees "concerts" go Micky. This was kind of sad and pathetic partly because of the FAR too many average and below average songs included. The set should have been about 10-12 songs and maybe an hour tops with some Monkees' stories in between. NO reason for an intermission here at all.

Thank god, it's terrible, If you were 5 years old in 1966 you might bring back some childhood memories. For anyone else Don't waste your time, it sucks, Mickey is living in a dream world. They didn't write the three hits they had, didn't even play instruments. They were hired as actors for a sitcom copying the Beatles. If you want to see clips of these stooges from the 1966 sitcom for 90 minutes go see it!

Their album Headquarters went to number 1 and was only displaced by the Beatles Dr. Pepper. They wrote, sang and played every single song on that album. It is magnificent. Please don't go spreading false information.
