You're one of the best teachers on here, Corey. Been playing for two years and I still have a lot to learn but your lessons always keep me working on my playing an technique. Thanks for the great lesson, man!
I thought this would be a simple chord shape, but when I actually picked up my guitar, I discovered it was surprisingly difficult to make that stretch! I can play the chord & arpeggios in this video, but it'll take a lot more practice before I can fret this chord quickly in a song context... I tried throwing this chord into a little E minor chord progression I had going and it threw me off by a couple of beats trying to get my fingers in position every time!
Corey where can I make a donation to you? I have recently found your channel and it is amazing. You focus more on teaching guitar instead of just genre and specific types. You're the only person on UA-cam that teaches obscure and odd guitar chords and logic. Anyone can play chords but I appreciate that you teach techniques and things that can differentiate music and guitar style. Please let me know. And also if you could do a video on specific rock chord alternatives that would be fantastic. My favorite band of ALL time is The Used and I'd love to learn how to do the Octaves that Quinn does on the song Buried Myself Alive. Regardless how can I donate?
+Colt Eaves If you go the channel home page ua-cam.com/users/gsogoz you will find a support button on the left. Alternatively, you can purchase lessons from the download store I have over at the website geminiguitar.com.au/digital-downloads/ Cheers.
Gemini Guitar bah! I wanna give up when I see this. I been playing 3years, but no lessons and I come across this and see your fingers stretched do far and it hurts my fingers doing it, makes me think I'll never get there, (of course I won't give up, but why why why? Whys it so hard ..boo hoo
Sam Daniele 2 1/2 years ago, ive got a Ibanez as a gift....she stood 1 and a half year just i the corner, then one day i just wanted to play....the first thing i wanted to play, was Megadeths in my darkest our....the intro is quite of stretch...but everytime i had nothing better to do, i tried...after a few days i was able to play it. And I streched my hand/fingers while watching tv . But by know, i think your problem maybe is solved :D Anyways, this channel is my guitar teacher since the first time i started playing/learning...thank you o/
As a guitarist man could you make several bars of killer metal riffs that we can play over and over to get better alot of older people dont have the time to study the theory THATS what people are really wanting but thanks for your hard work god bless
awesome riff. it would badass if you incorporated into a small song or series of riffs with drums and showed it as an example of what one can do with such a riff.
Your voicings and chords, and essentially every aspect of your playing, is spot on for the genre and style that I like. Any way you have any recorded stuff? Id love to hear it. Im working on a shoegazey ep right now, and its very similar to this styl.e
Ah jeez, that stretch on the index on the 5th fret g string with the power chord at the 7th and 9th is a stretch! I get lots of pain when I try and do that hand position! Do you have any videos on getting that kind of stretching and mobility out of your fretting hand? Btw, long time lurker, I purchased some of your stoner metal lessons last weekend and I love em! Thanks!
I don't think so. One thing you can do is move the stretch up higher on the fretboard. Get to a point where you're slightly uncomfortable and no pain and then move it back down gradually.
+XenoMorph Gaming No, I run the SG through a Line 6 TonePort UX-1. You can read about by following this link. Cheers. geminiguitar.com.au/my-sound-setup/
Hi, I'm not a guitarrist, But i think that the next note, after a note that you are pressing on D string, could be the this note, but half tone lower, i think it will be cool too. Is it possible? What do you thing guys?
Very good sound indeed. Just wondering if the Tone port is easy to use ie do you need to download the sounds or are they accessible on the unit? Thanks for your help in advance.
@@CoreyHunter Thank you I might purchase vit I have focusite but couldnt find any effects software with it . I was going to buy a new amp but your comments regarding amps made me think twice. Thanks again
Hey sir been a fan and subscriber for a while now. always wanted to ask , what pickups you have in your SG? And what amp You playing through? Or you just amping through your daw?
Don't own the red SG anymore, but it used standard stock pickups. I use a Line 6 TonePort to record direct into the computer. You can read about it over at the website. See link below video.
Why not do something with Patreon? I bought a lesson package from your website and it's such a large chunk of lesson material all at once. I would be nice to have it in smaller bits through youtube/Patreon and you get payed for each part. Keep up the good work!
+Corey Hunter Hi Corey, thanks for replying. I got the power chords mechanics package volume 1. I'm not the greatest guitar player in the world so it takes me a while to get all that stuff done. It would help me a lot to break it down in smaller parts and use (bi)weekly video's to go through all the material. I'd be wiling to sponsor that on Patreon. You've got 46000+ subscribers, so there might be more :-)
Thought my Ninja had the PICK OF DESTINY ...until he showed the pick!! HEH HEH ....well it was green? BWUAHAAA Do what you do Ninja sorry lol....He Ninja don't trip ...I subscribed
Interesting that you are using humbucker pick ups for this tutorial. Nothing wrong with it, I prefer single coil sound. I did enjoy the tutorial, the chorus and delay effects sounded cool.
Hoi bro. Thought you were getting out of this and glad to see you're still at it. Allow me to ask, wtf is that opening chord and the movable follow up (besides the power/5th)? Add ons of course but not sure what. ua-cam.com/video/Q66mayI2hEw/v-deo.html Saw in another vid you wearing a Jesus saves t. Was that for fun or did you get saved or some such? I got saved 25 years ago, left and have dabbled in All aspects of the other side as it were. To sum up; Doh! I've been shedding some tears upon perusing the (short) life of (Catholic of course) Joan of Arc....
The sound I use on this video is Piezo Acoustic. See link below video for the link.

that's a gorgeous tone. you're an inspiration, man.

That's the exact chord used in Mayhem's De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas.

A lot of these Scandinavian black metal guys used to listen to goth/industrial music.
At least I know Varg did.
Blast McRiff Yeah they are, but Euro picked each string really fast.
That's interesting, because it's a great chord, and they're a horrible band. Odd.
thanks man. you gave me some inspiration to create something new
Going from his 2012 video to this video all I can say is woah. I hope he isn't sick.
I watched one from 2011 just before this one and thought the same thing.
Killer lesson! Thank you!🤘🏻
I love the echo effect. Damn.....
Great sounding "Gothic" chord/arpeggio
That reverb is awesome!

Sounds like something you would hear on a 90s true crime/murder mystery documentary.
Sg. Darkness in title. I don’t think you understand how perfect this described what I was searching for when looking diminished chords up.
If you liked the guitar playing towards the end of the video, check out Tragedies Blow at the Horizon by Immortal.

I'm getting a vibe of Kalmankantaja there. Sweet!!

You forgot to mention what your index finder was doing. The C note on the G string, 5th fret. Easy enough to figure out, but still.
Thanks for the lesson.
Do you use any pedals? If so which? Love your lessons man

Prepared for Halloween.
Very good sound indeed. Just wondering if the Tone port is easy to use ie do you need to download the sounds or are they accessible on the unit? Thanks for your help in advance.
It came with Gearbox software. It's since been superceded by POD Farm. You can also use it as an interface only and use Vst software with it.
