    Helpful for beginners. There is plenty to improve on if you install more than a couple a year. It'll work.

    Thanks for the video! As I've learned while building this bathroom, directions are not very detailed and a little insight goes a long way.

    Hello, Thanks for the great video, very clear and helpful. Do you apply caulking around the trim plate after it is installed? There is a rubber seal under the plate, will that suffice or do you still need caulking? Thanks

      I was wondering the same thing, it's only a thin strip of foam on mine and I have dips where the grout is, seem like water could get inside, but my moen escutcheon is very thin on the edge so you can't really put sealer.

    After screwing in the set screw to the handle, the handle feels like it wobbles. Is there something else I should be doing to make the handle fit securely? Thank you!

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  2 роки тому

      The handle should just go right over the top. May want to just check and make sure the handle is on properly, it does fit a certain way over the handle adapter, but the set screw is the only thing that holds it on.

      I also found the set screw to the handle still felt like the handle was a bit more wobbly than expected

      Make sure your valve is set right. On the valve stem where the screw end is the flat piece on top and the flat piece with a lip should face to the bottom.

      You have to tighten really good

    You mentioned, I think (I've watched a lot of install videos, sorry), that you have a video showing the installing of the valve itself, including mounting it for support. ...as if you already have that video posted.
    But, I don't see in the description where you posted that link. Can you do that!?

    I'm doing this and have a fibre glass shower with mock grout joints like your tiles. There is foam on the escutcheon but don't you need to seal around the outside edge too? I'm worried water will get inside.

    Do you put any caulk around the trim once complete?

    Is the handle supposed to be an inch out from the plate that is on the wall? I just had one installed and, based on the advertisement of a Moen Gibson Matte Black Pressure Balancing Eco-Performance Modern Tub and Shower Trim, Featuring Single Function Shower Head, Shower Handle, and Tub Spout (Posi-Temp Valve Required), T2903EPBL, the picture they show looks flush. However, mine looks similar to what I see in your video and it sticks out about an inch. This looks wrong to me. Any guidance? I have also contacted Moen. Super disappointing.

      Yes, same here, in my opinion it’s a design issue…..

    Ok. I put mine on. Now i get either extreme hot water or cold water. Old faucet only went clockwise to turn on and get a good temp. Now it goes both ways? What did i screw up??

      Should be a plastic piece that goes on the cartridge, is that there?

    My stoppers (temp control and the other white piece) do not push all the way in on the cartridge in order to finish the installation. Is that an indication that I have purchased the wrong kit?

      Is this a replacement cartridge? Do you know what type valve or trim kit you have?

    Tried every step on the handle installation but for some reason the 2 white parts and the black piece are very loose even after with the screw in the middle. I googled and searched on reddit, some people experienced the same thing. Any ideas on how to solve it? TIA!

      Can you put a plastic washer on the screw to help tighten it down? Not a metal washer.

    Does the water HAVE to be off to the house? Lol

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  2 роки тому +3

      As long as you have the cartridge in, no the water doesn't need to be off. It also depends on how the cartridge is held in place, some older shower cartridges are held in place by the trim kit, the one in the video is not. The cartridge for this valve and trim kit has a clip that holds it in place. If the cartridge isn't installed then yes you will need to have the water shut off, unless you have a water shut off on the shower. Are you using the same kit as in the video? What trim kit are you replacing? It is important to note that MOEN trim kits are not all interchangeable, they require that a specific valve be installed. So make sure you check that the kit you are removing can be replaced with the new one you want to install.
