We are not mestizos. We are inidgenous people
Not latino, not hispanic, not mestizos and not afromexican!
Mexicans who have acquired a truly decolonized mindset do not honor or identify with any non-mexican/non-indigenous blood, do not identify with any eurocentric or afrocentric foreign imposed label, and do not practice dilution of our native root with foreigners!
ALL false colonial labels must be rejected equally, not just the eurocentric ones. Yte supremacism and eurocentrism is not the only kind of foreign attack against mexicans/native-americans.
Afro-supremacist bigots also have the same anti-indigeous sentiment and anti-inidgenous agenda. Africanos also try to blackwash and africanize our people and claim our history and identity.
Colonialism was never exclusively a yte supremacist enterprise. It is conformed of many forms of racist anti-indigeous agendas.
To adopt an afrocentric mindset is no different from being whitewashed and adopting a whitewashed mindset. Both are forms of malinchismo and a colonized mentality. It is of no use simply replacing a yte overlord for a blac one.
Eurocentrism and afrocentrism should have no jurisdiction on ou rlands nor any space or place in the idiosyncrasy of indigenous people. To denounce one form of supremacism and racism and to cover up or be silent about it and condone another (afrocentrism) is to act as accomplices of the afro-supremacists (so-called afrocentrics)

I think the problem is more obvious in rich neighborhoods
Between social classes the rich and the poor: the educated and the marginated, this always has been Mexico's biggest problem.
Mexico is rich but wealth is in the hands of a very small percentage of the population.
Even when mexicans fought the US and lost half their territory they were entangled in this social classes clash within the country and this played a decisive role in the outcome of the war.
To really understand mexican culture it is fundamental to be familiar with mexican history and the social problems in Mèxico that go beyond spain occupation in the country.
As old as this problem is I do not see mexican people being embarrased of their culture or heritage.
The real mexicans take pride on their heritage that goes beyond spain because we have a millenial culture that can only be rivaled by oriental cultures and we have the monuments that our ancestors left behind to prove it
