Btw, there is a huge misconception in the arcade racing community about countersteering. You dont have to countersteer "by hand" in real life either. The car does it for you, it's called self-steer and as soon as you let the wheel go it will align to the direction of travel. You only have to catch it at the right moment and actually turn into the corner, not the opposite direction.
@@TK7-VB idk about that. What you are saying doesnt match with my experience through 4 years of simracing/simdrifting, and developing my own sim "tech demo". The physics of self-steer are complicated. It has 3 component: 1. Pneumatic trail (because tires stretch) 2. Mechanical trail (if the suspension has a positive caster angle) 3. Gyroscopic effect of the rotating wheel. These 3 components (if all present in perfect harmony) will self steer so much more quickly and precisely then a human ever could. There are some cars of course where there is not that much caster angle (which is the biggest factor out of the 3) and in that case you have to be very active with the steering. But in the typical RWD front engine sports car in general you can rely on self-steer pretty comfortably. I have a few assetto drift videos uploaded to my channel, and you can see there that im barely even touching the wheel.
What I mentioned in the video was not about how a car reacts in real life. It’s an arcade racing game and I’m playing on a controller meaning that when I’m not touching the stick, I expect the wheels to be in a straight position and not fully left or right. BTW I don’t think if such thing would happen in real life as well, no car would self steer it self into a power slide when the back kicks out at 150MPH. Maybe mid drift when you want to make a transition but otherwise I don’t think so, I might be wrong but I have never seen.
Plus they lost some licenses to some cars like the Carbon Motors E7 that was planned to be the "new" police car back in the day but never came into fruition and disappeared into obscurity.

4:42 I heard this so many times when it comes to criterion nfs games, I never had any input lag, and the physics feel great. i dont understand why anyone would like a racing game when the physics feel awful yet you're here talking about how good hot pursuit is. the wheel turns by itself bc it take the slip angle, basically think of it as stability control, I can replicate this effect in my own physics model with enough tweaking, it doesnt feel artificial and is extremely casual friendly, kinda ingenious.
First part of your comment opens a long conversation but second part I disagree, A car always tries to straighten up the front wheels if it’s going sideways unless you are mid drift and trying to make a transition from one side to another and still you have to hold it after the transition, other than that I have never seen an actual car locking the wheels full on towards the corner like that, and I have never seen this in any other game. I might be wrong but I’ve never seen such thing.
@@visionsoftritonian1970 true its dat weird as in it only looks towards the slip angle while it knows a drift is engaged, so around when the slip angle is like 12 to 15 degrees and above, powerslide territory, which explains why it feels weird, it's either grippy and doesn't turn or drifty and immediately wants to stop drifting, which means its more handicapped than bad, it all comes down to how the physics model handles powerslides, which in hp10 case, it just skips it, mw2012 fixes that problem, cars only drift as a respond to breaking traction completely, it's not a different state, it's more of a recovery mechanism, mw12 feels like a simcade racer the turns the stability control up to 11 when u start oversteering or understeering, and the best way to go fast in mw12 is to just go fast, not just drift.
I still don’t get, why the hell Rivals is “cancer” especially when it has most of HP good features + its own like more detailed open world, the most intense cop/racer fighting ever
But when you have 2 different styles in two different games which makes them unique because of their differences, why would you want to mix them together?

Gotta say this, but this review was hella fun to watch yet everything you said is absolutely right, you won my sub, hope your channel grows up more because this is good shit.
1:07 most wanted was a return to the style of NFS 3 but with some modernisations and the story mode from underground integrated. I replayed it recently and i'll tell you what, it's not as good as i remember but nothing is actually as good as you remember. Although it was the first game that made my dad come up and tell me to turn it down. No regrets. A fully modified Porsche Carrera GT with the 5.1 speakers up full blast, revving the engine off the limiter in neutral was definitely a life experience for me.
Blackbox actually wanted to bring the cops to Underground 2 but couldn't because Honda didn't want their cars involved in pursuits and that's why they only reappeared in Prostreet and the Shift games
I played this to 100% steam achievement and it was a blast (execpt the slow porsche multiplayer achievement). I personally think that the 2010 version still seems to be great and a remaster was kinda unnecessary. It's worth buying if you have not played it back in 2010.
And you didn’t even mention the online aspect of this game, which is arguably the best feature and why they made a remaster (the old servers were not online). Battling actual people in a police vs racer situation is awesome.
We’re never gonna get those old games remastered because of licensing. But IMO Criterion should do the Hot Pursuit series every 4-5 years and another developer should do the usual NFS we’ve been getting lately
I love HP 2010 and its remaster, it's hella lot of fun. But I believe they should remake their most iconic games like MW. Yup, remake, to make graphics look like 2023 but with keeping driving mechanics. They might add more tuning parts, more cars from that era. Or do what Activision did with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2, same thign with NSF Underground games.
I don’t think if they would be able to get it through licensing. Those games were developed by black box games and they are gone. But I’m not sure maybe they can.
@@visionsoftritonian1970 Usually EA claims all licences, so if devs would leave or would be closed, they still get licences. Ubisoft did same thing with Far Cry, so devs made Crysis instead.
A nice detail I love about this game is in the online Arms Race mode where it's a race with equipment, however the nice thing is that the police dispatcher actually sets up roadblocks and helicopters with their own custom lines, stating that no interceptor units can get up and close to stop you so they're gonna do whatever they can with support units. It's a really nice touch that makes the world feel alive.
It'd be awesome if EA added new cars to the game like the C8 Corvette or something like the Muira (hey, they gave us older stuff in DLC like the 959), but considering its, well, EA, they'd find some way to make that god awful.
Im slightly disappointed this review didnt cover the awesome online multiplayer of hot pursuit, which is prob the best multiplayer of every nfs in existence. Esp when remaster has dlc and crossplay enabled.
Indeed I love this NFS, but I still play Rivals in my 360, I love that game too, they're like RED and BLU of modern Choose your side Racer/Cop of Racing Games.
You knew the developers were actually into cars when the first duel type race was named "Title Fight" and it's a 1v1 between an evo x & STi :D. Also, the OST is amazing, but have you ever tried goa trance?
You placed nfs rivals in the wrong category here. That game had barebones customization for racers and otherwise was a super powered demolition derby with racing placements slapped on. Freakishly underrated.
Actually I don’t think if I gave it enough chance to like it but I remember that it didn’t generate enough excitement for me in the first hour of the game.
I got much goosebumps playing this rather than Unbound. I like seriously, how does a game has such a good turbo sound? Plus the physics to me were decent to me, it was hard to make use of it first but got used to it. And if you think the physics are trash in nfs games, go and play sim racing games. This isn’t your average “sim racing game”. Sure other nfs had good physics of driving but still we need to know it’s a arcade game.
No I don’t think physics are trash in NFS, it has good aspects and bad aspects. I love NFS games but I think over the last few years they lost a lot of their charm due to the greedy nature of EA.
NFS Hot Pursuit and Rivals are the most exciting late NFS title after Hot Pursuit 2. The gameplay is smooth and has challenging mechanics without being too much on concentration. My main gripe is the gameplay is scripted making it is bored easily after playing it hundreds of hours in single player only. NFS Rivals has similar gameplay as NFS Hot Pursuit, albeit with unscripted gameplay but has technical issues.
I think rivals was a breath of fresh air ngl. It had the same idea as hot pursuit. I highly disagree on the car handling. Drifting is faster for only some cars, not every car. For example, the police Porsche can easily maintain 230 mph when drifting, but when compared to the Diablo which will lose A LOT more speed when drifting. Counter steering helps you get out of the drift quicker and speeds up your car since your making your car straighter. This in my opinion is need for speeds best car system. Also turning the siren lights and headlights is an advantage in multiplayer, it makes it much harder for the person in front of you to predict where you are and will only have the slight engine sound. Me when I yap 😭
idk dude... hot pursuit is probably the same game that came out before underground, even rivals ,the run and most wanted 2012 feels the same way ,the only thing i really loved about hp 2010 is the car sounds when you choose your car ,that was amazing xd
Are you really trying to say almost every Need for Speed game is the same as Most Wanted 05? I would agree if you said the last few Need for Speed games have felt the same since NFS 2015. However, your video showed The Run, Prostreet, Most Wanted 2012, Undercover as having the same formula as Most Wanted 2005, which is just straight up wrong. Even saying Prostreet is the same game as Most Wanted 2005 is straight up laughable and gets rid of all your credibility, as Prostreet is a game that focuses on closed track racing with no police at all. Even if we ignore all that, a lot of the features that you praised HP2010 for are present in a lot of NFS games and didn't convince me that it was unique. You liked the fact the game has time trials, good sounds, good visuals, attention to detail with the road textures, and a good handling model, when a lot of NFS games have all these features too in their own respect. I also don't get why you like to bash NFS Rivals a lot?? I agree it wasn't the best, but it's basically just the same thing as NFS HP 2010. Not sure how you're trying to say how it's in any way similar to MW 2005, when I'm pretty sure Rivals had no customization as well, had the same cop vs racer dynamic where you can play both sides, and you had weapons to use mid-race. Overall, this video was absolutely baffling to watch and honestly felt like you had nostalgia cloud your vision for this game. While I agree it is a pretty good NFS game for what it is, the arguments you gave were very weak. There are so many NFS games that are different from MW 2005 after its release.
Thank you for your comment I see you really like the game and I think that’s the whole point, to enjoy these games. I have no hate towards NFS, I just don’t have the same opinion as you but I love to see a good NFS game that would make both of us happy.
@@visionsoftritonian1970can you elaborate what is the same with ProStreet and MW? Literally it has no cops and offers a different progression system. Its basically NFS Shift but with functional handling

4:47 I don't get. Where's the lag? Aren't you supposed to push the left sick in the opposite direction to end the drift. People always criticize brake-to-drift, but it's literally the fastest way around corners
I like Hot Pursuit, but I'm not a fan of the game after finishing it. You just repeat tracks over and over, which can be fun but overtime, it's going to be a game where you pick it up to pass a time and move on. Free roam isn't viable as it's just you, and the open road, not risk but atleast it's zen for players who had ptsd from roaming and idle cop cars from the hp missions and from the old nfs games. Sure the main selling point is the races and pursuit missions of the main map, but sometimes I like to infinitely chase or outrun cops at times without route constraints. Then I saw some yt vid about Rivals and that was it. A game that's part underground due to the customization and mostly hot pursuit. Rivals is a game where you can be a racer and a cop while A.I drivers and cops roam around and both of them are in the same instance so, there's going to be a moment where you're a undercover, enjoying the scenery then you see a racer running away from a A.I cop and it's just nice (idk if this is right but I did see a police chase as a undercover unit on rivals and just tagged along on free roam). It was just plagued with issues and rushed development that it's quite of a buggy mess. I'm still waiting for the NFS Rivals that's not rushed and decently cared for by criterion and ghost. Maybe a hot pursuit where you can enjoy free roam as a cop or racer along other A.I racers and cops so that the replayability can be decent? Maybe my takes are trash in the end because I grew up playing rally games when I was 7-8 while seeing most wanted during those times and the concept of undercover is like a whole new can of worms to me when I was a teenager.
To be honest I’m not a fan of open world arcade racing, but in general I think if a game has its own characteristics it shouldn’t be mixed with other games. Also rally games are amazing I only played Dirt Rally 2.0 and a bit of dirt 4 and I released they deserve much more attention.
Honestly, the remaster looks worse than the original, at least on PC. I mean look at the racer and cop garages in the original, they have like more details. I absolutely love the original and I'm thankful that I got the remaster for free, because I'm not spending $30 on a cross-play DLC for a 13 years old game :D
hot pursuit remastered - pros- refined visuals DLC cars which were exclusive to original on consoles (fuck you EA) livery editor (carried over from ghost era games) cons no mercedes-mclaren cars and carbon motors E7 (E7 makes kinda sense but not merc-mac) livery editor (it would have been fine with a custom colour system) new garage for racers (old hangar was better) $40 price tag also, equating rivals as other NFS titles isnt right when it was just evolved NFS hot pursuit with a more open world setting
Genuine question: Have you actually played rivals? 2:09 i get this feeling you haven't. Also NGL, NFS underground 1 was kinda bad. 2 improved the formula way more.
@@visionsoftritonian1970 nice to see someone didn't rip me apart if you enjoy mw05 I'm glad you do I also kinda disagree with your point on handling as its quite easy to predict once you get used to it you can brake to drift or handbrake drift depending on how sharp the corner is and I find it very satisfying. that's your opinion tho and I'm not really that worried about handling cause I get used to every racing games handling from carbon to heat to unbound to hot pursuit 2010

Didn't expect to see you
I feel like rivals at its bare bones, was simply this game in a different style and direction
It kinda was, I think the direction was more towards other NFS titles like MW
I still don’t get, why the hell Rivals is “cancer” especially when it has most of HP good features + its own like more detailed open world, the most intense cop/racer fighting ever
it's not cancer, it's a pretty fun game
But when you have 2 different styles in two different games which makes them unique because of their differences, why would you want to mix them together?
@@visionsoftritonian1970 why not though? rivals is easily one of need for speed games that is slept on alot. best cop ai in any need for speed game, hands down. best weapons system, hands down. the game upgraded a lot of things about hot pursuit that hot pursuit did not have.
Because it was a buggy and broken mess
@@irivited that’s the thing, hot pursuit didn’t have many things because the game is focusing on something else, and that is its own language.
That was the best racing game review I've seen in a long time.
Makes me wanna play again, even though I find it agitating as all hell, with getting some of the gold medals. Thanks for giving a different perspective on this game.
I'm gonna check out your channel.
What a great review.
I’m glad you enjoyed
Yes, exactly! You could tell the developers loved cars with all their heart! That is not something easily seen in modern games.
Gotta say this, but this review was hella fun to watch yet everything you said is absolutely right, you won my sub, hope your channel grows up more because this is good shit.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video, and your comment gave me a lot of energy brother, thank you.
Always
1:07 most wanted was a return to the style of NFS 3 but with some modernisations and the story mode from underground integrated. I replayed it recently and i'll tell you what, it's not as good as i remember but nothing is actually as good as you remember.
Although it was the first game that made my dad come up and tell me to turn it down. No regrets. A fully modified Porsche Carrera GT with the 5.1 speakers up full blast, revving the engine off the limiter in neutral was definitely a life experience for me.
Well what we expect from games nowadays is much different than 2005.
True
And you didn’t even mention the online aspect of this game, which is arguably the best feature and why they made a remaster (the old servers were not online). Battling actual people in a police vs racer situation is awesome.
You had me dying 🤣😂 keep making these. Midnight club LA
I’m glad you enjoyed, right now my PC is broken but I will make as soon as I fix it.
We’re never gonna get those old games remastered because of licensing.
But IMO Criterion should do the Hot Pursuit series every 4-5 years and another developer should do the usual NFS we’ve been getting lately
Hmm, I would gladly purchase their new game if they make a good HP.
Plus, they're just asking for a half assed cashgrab. Why can't they just get the OG game and install some mods?
Nah criterion should fuck off NFS and revive Burnout, the true car combat seriesm
Then remove the cars that has problems with licensing issues.
I have played both NFS hp and rivals. Both are goated.I would say rivals for the graphics and the atmosphere and hp for crossplay and more cars
@@JustMartha07 if that is the case I hope we get them soon
Hot Pursuit, top notch game!
I wish we had more racing games like this.
Keep it up with the NFS videos ,i like the content 😎
I’m glad you like them
the video quality is quite good for a channel with 100 subs, lol i didnt even realize it had 100 subs before i went on to click it
can't believe the livery update was the last update.
This channel is gonna blow up, just like the fireworks in Lebanon
For some reason I really enjoy your stupid sense of humour, subbed
I’m glad you enjoyed
ProStreet was different.
Aint no way this channel is only 270 subs
👍
hopefully u make another nfs video, this video was really perfect
Im glad you enjoyed. New video will come out soon.
Definetly a underrated game
A nice detail I love about this game is in the online Arms Race mode where it's a race with equipment, however the nice thing is that the police dispatcher actually sets up roadblocks and helicopters with their own custom lines, stating that no interceptor units can get up and close to stop you so they're gonna do whatever they can with support units. It's a really nice touch that makes the world feel alive.
You should buy the remastered when it's on sale. Cos it has DLC content
True
First time on your channel, but for some reason you sound like that one guy on the radio in “The Long Drive”.
you forgot the most important thing, the sound effects of the weapons...the good ol' "turbo system online". one of the legendary NFS games
True, the sound effects were amazing
Oh my god guys its the real sergeant rex power colt??? (real)
Oh my god guys its the real sergeant rex power colt??? (real)
It'd be awesome if EA added new cars to the game like the C8 Corvette or something like the Muira (hey, they gave us older stuff in DLC like the 959), but considering its, well, EA, they'd find some way to make that god awful.
I don’t think if they cared at all
Out of all the NFS games I played, this one had the most intense racing experience I had in a racing game.
👍
The thumbnail though
Im slightly disappointed this review didnt cover the awesome online multiplayer of hot pursuit, which is prob the best multiplayer of every nfs in existence. Esp when remaster has dlc and crossplay enabled.
Indeed I love this NFS, but I still play Rivals in my 360, I love that game too, they're like RED and BLU of modern Choose your side Racer/Cop of Racing Games.
To be honest I didn’t really get to connect with Rivals, but all that matters is to enjoy the game 👍
@@visionsoftritonian1970 yeah I was just saying about other people all the time complaining about the physics every single d a y
It's my favourite need for speed game for progression system alone
👍
hot pursuit is the best racing game! it got my sisters playing trying to beat my best time attack
That really was amazing.
Thanks
They were never gonna remaster 2005's Most Wanted.
My very first nfs was porsche 2000 on pc. Then hp2 as a demo disc bundled with a magazine
Mine was the first HP
Love this game, especially the online
It’s truly one of the best
NFS Hot Pursuit and Rivals are the most exciting late NFS title after Hot Pursuit 2. The gameplay is smooth and has challenging mechanics without being too much on concentration. My main gripe is the gameplay is scripted making it is bored easily after playing it hundreds of hours in single player only. NFS Rivals has similar gameplay as NFS Hot Pursuit, albeit with unscripted gameplay but has technical issues.
True
Well I played HP 1 and believe me this one is much better:). But of course HP 1 was amazing too when it was released.
i've been waiting on a High Stakes II for 24 years already omg -_-
Are you really trying to say almost every Need for Speed game is the same as Most Wanted 05?
How was ProStreet the same to The Run and Most Wanted?
Do you consider putting the same idea around the track a fresh start? Because when they released shift I figured they we’re looking for a fresh start
@@visionsoftritonian1970can you elaborate what is the same with ProStreet and MW? Literally it has no cops and offers a different progression system. Its basically NFS Shift but with functional handling
Best review.
i’ve downloaded a 2010 cracked version from a “definitely legit website that will not brick my laptop” and oh man i love it it’s arcade physic is fun, the graphics is great even for today and best of all i don’t have to use my brain to make any complaints about it like other games that i also pirate them cuz fuck ea
4:47 I don't get. Where's the lag?
Aren't you supposed to push the left sick in the opposite direction to end the drift.
People always criticize brake-to-drift, but it's literally the fastest way around corners
This is funny shit. Great work. I have seen this video several times, it cracks me up. Pass! Pass! Pass!
You misspelled “Rivals”
Both the turbo & the NOS are pointless in 2010 HP because the rubberbanded cops will catch up anyway
They need to remaster the remaster
Maybe in the future
Just do a new HP game with the latest models which was the point of 2010 HP, HP2, and most of NFS3's car list
I don't care if NFS Hot Pursuit Remastered had its own language to talk!
hey! prostreet didnt really involve any police.. i dont think it really links to any other need for speeds, maybe except for shift
Yeah but shift was a complete new game, I don’t see prostreet as a “wow look how we changed everything” type of game.
@@visionsoftritonian1970 didnt think of it that way, fair point! loved this video!
5:52 💀
Its cheap now on store now gotta have this 3.99 must own
Game developer glsses on 😜😎
😊😄
is it just me or is nfs rivals just a free roam version of hot pursuit?
It wasn’t for me, but some agree to your point of view
great video ty
I’m you enjoyed
i like that you can't play nfs hp non remastered if you don't have the game on the disc
The best nfs ever
👍
Bro this game was on sale for the PS5 idk how long ago, shit was like 3-5 dollars LOL
I got it ofc
👍
$30 Is a ridiculous price for it and the console version is even more expensive
@@visionsoftritonian1970 Adding the fact that some cars and music tracks are missing due to licensing.
9:08 - ayo? uhmm...
Rivals was good. It's just hot pursuit 2 secretly
Hot pursuit 4 😆
hot pursuit remastered -
pros-
refined visuals
DLC cars which were exclusive to original on consoles (fuck you EA)
livery editor (carried over from ghost era games)
cons
no mercedes-mclaren cars and carbon motors E7 (E7 makes kinda sense but not merc-mac)
livery editor (it would have been fine with a custom colour system)
new garage for racers (old hangar was better)
$40 price tag
also, equating rivals as other NFS titles isnt right when it was just evolved NFS hot pursuit with a more open world setting
Rivals was not that bad,in was unfinished but the aesthetics were awesome,
I liked all the three games made by criterion in those years
IDK, I couldn’t connect with it at all
NFS rivals is unmatched😊
The. Best.
True
1:17 Why is NFS MW 2012 like THE SAME NFS MW FORMULA when MW 2012 dosent even have visual customisation
Yeahhh driver 1 was so hard... 3:26
Genuine question: Have you actually played rivals? 2:09 i get this feeling you haven't. Also NGL, NFS underground 1 was kinda bad. 2 improved the formula way more.
Don't you recognize NFS: Rivals as a very natural evolution of a game you are rightfully praising here? WTF, man, honestly?
I got the remaster for 4$
The ONLY good Need For Speed game
imo hp 2010 is the best racing game of all time and mw05 is a pile of dogshit but please don't kill me and let me be
you cannot change my opinion
😄 it’s your opinion bro, if you didn’t enjoy MW then you didn’t.
@@visionsoftritonian1970 nice to see someone didn't rip me apart
if you enjoy mw05 I'm glad you do
I also kinda disagree with your point on handling as its quite easy to predict once you get used to it
you can brake to drift or handbrake drift depending on how sharp the corner is and I find it very satisfying.
that's your opinion tho and I'm not really that worried about handling cause I get used to every racing games handling from carbon to heat to unbound to hot pursuit 2010
My Fav Of all is NFS RIVALS. Total Brutal n Aggressive elegance
To be honest I’m not a fan of Rivals, but all that matters is to enjoy the game👍
