at 57 and post-menopausal, I realize that I no longer care what others think of me. Living to other people's expectations is a game you will never win. You will never be enough for most people and too much for others. Be yourself, and be content with the gift of life you were given and the uniqueness that you are. Beauty is a very fickle master, when there is so much in life that has NOTHING to do with how one looks.

I think it's dangerous to think that it's one gender that reacts negatively to aging women. We're often so caught up in the "catty women" stereotype that we only remember notice women reacting. Maybe it's because their reactionsv are not verbal. Women talk more openly about it, but it's usually men who leave their wives and mothers of their children who got them through the most difficult times in life for a younger, prettier model. It's often male bosses who fire aging women or drive them into quitting by sidelining or even harassing them.
@@e.458Agreed 💯

Male bosses may well be driven to push aging women out of the workplace too, but frankly they would likely be as quick to discard men they decided were past their prime too. That fact might have to do more w/the combination of aging & their agreeableness. Corporate life is brutal. Could fill a book w/behind the scenes gender inequities. It's 💯% Swimming w/the Sharks🦈.
Know first hand about sexism being alive & thriving in corporate America. Reported to an EVP/CFO of a fortune 500 entertainment company. He was quite savvy at financial negotiations. That same skill was something he greatly admired in male candidates, but highly resented in female ones. Coining sexist nicknames for the women who were using the EXACT same strategies in the same manner.
It was welcomed & encouraged for males to be direct & unrelenting about making the best deals, but in women their male counterparts were likely to resent that behavior. Male management prefered that the females flirt, cajole, & play to male ego to make advancement for any reason.
😼Met a lot of catty & competitive women in my day. Few want to uplift others w/compliments or atta girls. Sadly, most females in the corporate realm seem quicker to contaminate relations w/other women instead of contribute to their actual professional growth & development.

Quite honestly, I think it's the envy that they can live out their happiness as a mother. Many of them definitely don't want to go back to work so quickly, but they have to because it's usually not enough financially. Or they don't live according to their own needs in order to look perfect on the outside.afterMotto, I'm a power woman, I can do everything, look, work, family, etc. But deep down they unconsciously suspect that it's too much and that they actually want to concentrate on their role as a mother and their family. I've met women who ate absolutely sexy with silver hair. I even see very young ones dye their hair a platinum silver, and some of them are hot!
I’m so Blessed. I’m 65 and married to a man 15 years younger. He and I have created the most wonderful life together. We never think about age. Yes, I’m looking older but we have such respect for each other that it goes beyond looks. It’s must deeper and spiritual.
Poor guy 😢
That's wonderful!
That's wonderful!
@@silverpenn3809poor you! 😂
@@alisonf6478 😘
Wow she hit the nail on the head right there ❤ every word is so true
Rock that gray, and to the women that tell her to get surgery for this and that... ignore them.
Her hair is wonderful
I have never felt fear for any of those reasons, I am 67 with hair down past my butt, and 40 pounds overweight. I've had zero fillers or lifts/tucks, have been married 3 times and my current/last marriage has lasted 30 years, If my husband is stupid enough to ever leave me, I'll be fine. I stopped highlighting my hair 10 plus years ago and pray for the gray to come in. I work part time in a government office full of young women and have been approached several times by management to go full time because of my excellent work ethic. I have earned everyone of my wrinkles and don't regret them at all. Of course I do what I can to "slow" it down, but I am not fixated on my looks, I'm more concerned with my character.
You are awesome!! I agree at the end of the day people care more about how they are treated.
Amen and Hallelujah! Much freedom and grace comes from that mind frame. Beautiful stated!
✌🏽💗
Sooo true… thank you for pointing it out!
This is the kind of reasoning that's truly a breath of fresh air. I applaud this woman for being the best she can be without resorting to artificial sweetners for the body.
I think they were threatened by your natural beauty. Keep shining!
No, it’s about her physical beauty. A homely woman could not speak this way. She’s been beautiful all her life, that where she’s centered and from which she draws her confidence.
I know some very beautiful women friends who have zero confidence in themselves though. So I don’t think it’s that simple. Also, what you call “homely” (🫣) women can have tons of confidence. Just being able to be your authentic self is the ultimate confidence booster I believe. Make up or not.
It seems unfortunate to value image over character, beauty is only skin deep.
And she has studiously crafted her appearance to look like she didn't studiously craft her appearance.
I do think you're right, but I also think she's completely right.
@@joshuapierce3085She is right when speaking about herself, but not necessarily others. Although umthey are common hang ups, at some point you have to admit you aren't young anymore. Lol
The deepest happiness comes from non dependency upon the things of life which are of impermanence
..cultivate a good resourse of mind it will stand you well when others run out of sustaining supports.
Keep growing in gratefulness. This woman is frenetic...
This is so true!!!!!! Know thyself ❤. The world needs more intelligent, fearless, strong, assertive, articulate, and beautifully facetious women, Just like this exquisite lady. Much respect!
If more women would be brave enough to go grey it just wouldn’t be a thing. We have all been brainwashed by the beauty industry. I am totally grey and I get judged as being older than I am, which is very sad. If it wasn’t for the fact I absolutely hated dying my hair I would have gone back to dying. But I won’t - I’m just waiting for more women to catch on. It’s a lot of pressure!
I love dying my hair. It’s cheap and fun at home, it’s creative and takes 15 years off of me. So what.
It's not for everyone, but I shave my head,to hide the ever increasing amount of grey hair on my head.
I know I get judged for being older than what I am because of my premature grey hair....but...I feel I need to take one for the team. Because it's natural. And if approached with the right attitude...it can become normalized. But I know I'm judged and thought of differently.
I think she is absolutely beautiful.I have grey hair.I think her natural hair is gorgeous!
Mine was silver. Now it's rose gold. Not a day goes by that I don't hear a compliment or 3 on my hair! It's SO fun!
Everything she says is so true!
It's women that put women down, not men.
Then you must never read comment sections, especially if you're the only woman in the thread.
@@sharonmassey2923Ma'am, this is the internet. When it comes to face to face and behind the back shit talking its always women starting drama, they love it and need it. They're also fundamentally broken in that respect.
@@JV-io3nn men say it to each other about women, but are hypocrites to women's faces, in many cases. I've seen and heard this in action. 🤦🏻♀️
@@GypsyGirl317 I've tried to reply twice to JV, and both times my reply disappeared, so I'm going to try responding to him via your post.
One experience that no man has had is being the lone woman in a comment thread of men, the same feeling as coming across a pack of men, but less dangerous, of course. I remember one thread in particular, that I would have feared for my physical safety if I'd had this "discussion" with these "men" in person. As usual, men don't know what they're talking about when it comes to women's lives, and it would be best if you'd all keep your stunning ignorance to yourselves until you do, and LISTEN...for a change.
Fact.
YOU GOT IT RIGHT BUT ITS ALL A DELUSION. ITS ALL IN THEIR MINDS. WE’RE FABULOUS JUST AS WE ARE!!! 🔥
Fearless is the key
You are absolutely perfect, don't EVER alter yourself
All completely valid fears but she is right. We should not feed the beast or be made to live in fear.
“Men don’t get asked these things” Spot on! The double standards are real.
No, men just get constantly disrespected by women.
Did you listen? She said the “double standard” is largely women critical of other women.
The people asking women these things are other women… there isnt a double standard.
Have you been sacked for a false allegation?
Oh, that's right, you're a woman
@@jefferytokarsky1930 Huh??? I don’t know what women she is around but most women do not ask those kind of questions. I don’t know what she’s talking about.
There's less fear when you de-center men and give yourself the love and validation that you desire.
BAM!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
She was talking about women judging other women, but you say it’s men at fault for that.
@@arangillespie She's not saying men are at fault. The women who are judging her are centering men and men's opinions (your husband would like that). Decentering men means not making decisions on the basis of what men think about her appearance.
Amen!
@@bexbexbex11I disagree. A lot of women are profoundly insecure and when they see a woman who accept herself they have to take shots at her. Their not jealous of her looks they are jealous of her peace.
Today we celebrate 61yrs marriage!!! We are aging for sure but I look at her arthritis hands, slightly wrinkled face, beautiful silver grey hair and look back and remember all the home cooked meals, packed lunches, clean clothes. And my heart melts in love for her. She is beautiful, kind, tender hearted and while we are in our 80’s she is still my blushing bride. I pray I make her as happy as she has made me!!
Those fears are well founded. It is common that men leave their wives for younger women, not so women leaving men for younger men. Same thing in the workplace, men are not told to color their grays.
Men who leave their wives for younger women would still leave their wives regardless of Botox, fillers, plastic surgery and hair dye.
You're just trying to blame men for your flaws, it is a really well known disfunctional psychological mechanism, go fix your disgusting outlook on life.
Most divorces are initiated by women, though. How is it always mens fault you guys can't sort your own shit out 😂
@@Flakz911I’d look at the reasons given for divorce.
Lies, statistics show 70% of divorces are initiated by women and if the women is educated it jumps to 90%, THEN we trade you in on younger versions, cause we can but you get the cat.
Acknowledge fear of aging has dwindled somewhat in last 10-20 years. Have we forgotten role models like actress Helen Mirren, musician the late great Tina Turner, i wouldn't even have known the show Downtown Abbey existed if it werent for all the attention the legendary Maggie Smith was getting bc of her excellent acting!❤❤❤
I must say her hair is incredible. I adore that color of grey! Also she is stunning!❤
I experienced age discrimination the first time I applied for a part time job at a bank (post retirement from grocery) and the 19 year old woman I used to work with who always called out got the job over me when I was the one with 35 years experience in cash handling.
I'm sorry that happened to you.
I am a 65-year-old woman no nips no tucks no dyes no bleach. And I’m still kind of cute.😀
Your lovely smile keeps you young!
Fear we won’t be “F”. No lady, that is rather crude and not my fear. At my age I desire a deep meaning relationship and love.
And 8 hours sleep ❤ or more !
She's including that implicitly
I think she is speaking rhetorically.
Oh god.....lol
Love how women think sex isn't apart of a deep loving relationship 😅😂 so you f@ck around in your youth but think sex isn't important to your loving partner 😅
I'm glad I'm 37 and already got over all these fears. Only one I have is fear of being broke and I'm on the verge of conquering that.
This woman is SOOO attractive to me. Her attitude, her intelligence, her physical beauty, it's all so much more inviting than if she was trying to look younger or whatever.
It would be pretty difficult to concentrate around her
I’m 60 and get compliments, from all genders, on my salt n pepper hair. Beauty is a state of mind and my wrinkles are a map of a life well lived ❤
Never say “all”. Not all women have this woman’s fears.
That's true. All cat ladies can attest to that.
Most do
Most do.
Well said.
Exactly. Many women do not have such fears
Confidence trumps fear. Carry your grey hair and lines with grace. You will glow.
Thanks for sharing 💜
Such an interesting empowerment perspective! Go feminine fearless women ❤
You had me at fear of being f*able
Being a grandparent is the compensation for getting older. Love yourself at any age. I think filler looks ridiculous sometimes. With age comes wisdom and freedom. It's more important to be healthy than free from wrinkles.
Exactly ❤
Ive NEVER had any woman tell me that I should get any cosmetic procedure. Wtf. Who is she hanging out with???
Rich people looks like😅. Different world.
same. the most critical women in my life were the boomer ones making comments on my weight. women my age were always kind and supportive ^^
My friends have mentioned it to me! I don't dye my hair or get filler crap. I'm ok being 60. I don't want to be 30 again. I dress in trendy clothes, live a very active life and just happy not to play that game. I would much rather spend my money on experiences rather than vanity. It's a trap that keeps you stuck having poison needles injected in your face and always running to get root coverup. Not for me thank you very much!
Salespeople for cosmetic surgery
Hearing, seeing some of these comments on different social media forms. The teen girls get
Condemned for their weight, way they dress, etc. Yes, people can be very judgemental
these days as we see this person expressing her experiences.
Some so-called friends will say derogatory insults to others just because they are in a miserable situation.
Been married 30 years now. It doesn’t matter that my wife is getting older, so am I. She’s so awesome and easy going. She doesn’t stress about the things this lady is talking about. If she did, maybe we wouldn’t have made this far. I’m probably going to get some negative comments about it but that is the point of this social media experiment. Can’t deal with opposing views without flipping out, wear a helmet because like is rough. Here goes. For the brief moment she explained all that?! Tired. That’s exhausting to deal with. I can’t imagine living with someone who is so influenced by all the strangers, acquaintances around them and their thoughts and comments. That will spilt a couple apart.
