Looks a great harvest Gruff love your little digger vehicle to pick your supers up in, rough terrain, brilliant vlog as usual,we’ve left ours for this week to harvest,as this last bit of good dry weather.👍
Just extracting honey from the last of my supers this year. I've noticed all the frames are full of "heather honey". Is there a simple way of extracting heather honey, as it doesn't come out using extractor? very thick consistency.
You may need to either scrape it out with a spoon…carefully not damaging the foundation. Or you could buy a hand held heather honey losner Or you’ll need to press it out.
Yes, most of the brood boxes are heavy with stores already. And the balsam is still flowing and there’s ivy to come. Won’t need to feed much this year.
Just about finished my intro to beekeeping course here in Scottish Borders, so the more I watch and learn the less I seem to know, my question is how do you clear the bees from those honey supers. Great videos please keep em coming
Hi ive just inherited my first hive which had been abandoned. The problem im facing is that my brood are in super frame. Any ideas how i can transfer my brood from the super frames to deeps? I help would be much appreciated.
I would take any Queen excluder out of the hive and winter them as they are. Feed them if they need it. In spring shake the bees down into the brood box one frame at a time, put a Queen excluder over it then place the super back on top. After 4 weeks all the brood will be gone and it will just be honey.
There’s no bees in the boxes. I’ve used clearer boards. The bees that are flying around are robbers. Most of them fly off before I leave the first field.
very cool video to watch , good job
Thank you 😊
Wowsas mate and here’s me happy with a couple of hundred pounds good on ya Gruff lad.

What’s the best time to visit your farm ? Always looking good.
My one hive is hopeless, brood box fine, as it’s been all summer, one super, empty.
There is always next year. It’s been a patchy year
@@user-go9hb4td8j It’s been busy all summer & right up to this heavy rain. Plenty in brood box but very little in Super.

Excellent result Gwenyn , is there plenty of time for the bees to get their own winter stocks , or will they rely on your to feed.

Well done! But my workers don't get effed on the back of a truck and get lost all over the country...

How many hives was on that site
I can’t remember, I think I say how much was on that site towards the end of the video.
How many hives on that site Gruff
Off the top of my head 15-18 ish…I do say in the video how many hives are on that site, my brain is to fuzzy at the moment to remember!! Lol
A tarp is your friend to cover the supers
Absolutely, was early in the morning so got away with it. Could never do it like this mid day!
Do you not clear the bees first?
Yes with clearer boards. But bring the blower as backup
Good job 👍🏼 well done 👍🏼
