The WEEKLY RIFF: JIM ROOT & SARCASTROPHE from THE SOUND AND THE STORY
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 лют 2025
- Clean octave intros, single-string riffing and trills, speedy tremolo picking, Drop A heaviness, oh my! Jim Root takes us into his garage to show us all how it's done. FRET12 presents a video play-through of Slipknot's smashingly-heavy "Sarcastrophe."
(ProTip: if you want to nail that clean tone, you'll need an EHX Holy Grail reverb, a Maxon Rotary Phaser and MXR Carbon Copy delay.)
If you want a deeper, behind-the-scenes look at how .5: The Gray Chapter came to be, check out our exclusive "The Sound & the Story" recording.

Wanna know why i love Jim and Mick? Coz you don't need guitar solo every song just to be called the best 🤘
I love that clean intro, gets me everytime
I just love that emg clean sound.
Jim would be proud of this dude
So he would be proud of himself, he is Jim root.
@@danielvazquez7256 bruh, did you not get the joke?
@@danielvazquez7256woooosh
The elegance with which he glides around the fret board, here's me sweating just trying to change from a G to a D practicing chord charts to a metronome
I watch lot of guitar player out there. But watching Jim technique is such a unique talent. It's like, I dont know how to explain. But he's like hesitating to move his hand, because his fingers are doing the job. It's not showy like others doin' like moving I dont know. Hahaha!!
He puts in the minimal physical effort to play his parts. He makes it look easy.
I'm watching this again for the first time in about a year and the one thing that stands out is how effortless he makes it look. Dude's basically enjoying a lazy Sunday as he plays this.
@@LiamBriggs18 the guy might as well just take a nap at this point
Man, this guy's pretty good! He should try out for Slipknot!
I feel like ppl like him are very underrated. He is incredibly talented.
But he needs a mask
Google it youll know

RIDICULOUSLY GOOD, THANK YOU. INSPIRATION IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!
I love you jim root you have my heart
The dude in the studio may be the producer or whomever but to me it looks like he's feeding off of kicks skill n life essence. If I were in that room I would be LIT UP and IN AWE
Come back to Colorado jim root on your next tour I must see you again in slipknot I love you I have loved since I was 15 I’m 36 now I still love you
Boss is here♥️♥️love you😍
love the solo
Very very nice
The main riff is so catchy
Epic!
If you're a Slipknot fan that plays guitar you're truly doing yourself a disservice by not getting this DVD
This is a dvd??? Where can I buy this???
@@Tom-oz7wk order it online
So fuckking amazing... Thanks for all, Jimy
0:58 the volume was already max xd
I'd love to see another video put on on the riffs of Iowa :)
At 0:46 a bogner amp is teleported there, and the orange is sublimated...
Omfg I heard this nearly lost myshit blood pumping hair standing on my neck got me pumped at work OMG insane song Wooohoooooo Jim root is a boss legend epic the man till the end
Godzilla had a stroke trying to read this and died.

I’m a slipknot fan and guitarist but guess what they don’t sell this dvd here
It's available on the fret12 website to purchase digitally and then stream as well, if that helps
Plz make a lesson on how to make pinch harmonics🙏
flesh of your finger on your picking finger hits the string, its a feel thing, you have to just play with it, and some pinch harmonics are easier to hit on different strings - also if your pickup isn't really high output, it can be a little harder. I think art-of-guitar youtube channel did a good video on it, showing how to do it.
@@ph0kused or you can lightly bend the string barely touching it, it works for me at least
I could watch Jim Root's manly, capable hands play that guitar all day haha. Talented n sexy ;)
Spotted the mask! Lol.
You guys definitely need Wes Borland in your collection/
i second this ^
The dude the from The Office is pretty bad ass on the axe.
I don’t see it. Who from Office lol? I love the Office so funny 😂
Are they a djent band'now all the sudden!!
What ? They have been using this tuning and riff style since the first album.
@@andysalter7192 they started to use Drop A tuning since IOWA record, in 1999's debut album they played with lower tuning... An example of that is "Scissors" (lower F#1 6th string in a C# standard tuning)
Guitar tracks totally drowned out smh
@Astroblaze the Reality Traverser I think they mean in the original recording.
