      For anyone wondering why Karl has a hard time getting his chair under the stand, the cradle is obviously not all the way back as seen on 22:35 where the furthest back adjustment is seen sticking beyond the tray. It's also obvious when he moves the chair away at 33:00. Claiming that this product has a design flaw or something like that and thus most chairs will not fit under it is just silly. It's just a minor mistake on his behalf and I wish it was addressed in a pinned comment or in the description for people checking this out at at a later date (like myself).

    I bought one of these stands (upgraded from Wheel Stand Pro because I've ordered a CSL DD with boost kit) because it was on a sale here, bought it for ~€190. I have the agptek lockable castor wheels, so I didn't care much about the cradle (I have an office chair), but I've installed it anyway, because this way I don't have to set the position of the wheels all the time. I don't have issues with my armrest (it's an office chair, not a gaming chair), but the wheel were too close (T300RS) even in the furthest position of the cradle (and I'm not tall, only 174cm/5'8.5"). The trick was for me to put only 1 castor wheel into the cradle, instead of two like recommended by NLR. This way the chair is a little more behind and it's the perfect position for me.
    Also, this thing is no joke, it's extremely heavy, I've bought the NLR castors for it and put two on the further positions. Too bad NLR only sells it in a 10-pack, but at least I will have all the castors if somewhen in the future I will have the space for a full cockpit.
    tl;dr, for those who have the issue with the chair too close to the wheel, try to put one wheel into the cradle instead of two.

    I think the problem with spacing and the chair lies with your steering wheel being stuck so far out and not so much the chair or the stand but I can see how that’s annoying, stand works perfect for me and I have an R9 on there with a fairly decent sized QR.

    This is exactly what I am looking for to use with my office chair on rollers and with my TMX wheel/pedals for ACC and Yoke/Pedals for flight simming. I wasn't sure about the adjustments that could be made with the pedal tray but you clearly showed that it can be adjusted for both lateral and angular. So cheers for the review - Overclockers have this on sale at just £159.95 so I'm off to hopefully grab one! 😉

    Karl, you are my go-to reviewer when I need more information or longer review on a given sim racing product. There's just a wealth of crucial information that other reviewers sort of missed out on. Like, for example, the shifter mount issue. You went into great details that a prospective buyer of this wheel stand will encounter if they plan to use a shifter on their rig. Now, I ordered this wheel stand because GT Omega Apex Wheel Stand is stupidly rare and I can't wait no longer so even if this is more pricier than the Apex I still went out and bought it, but I don't plan on using a shifter, but I still find it a very useful information. That's just who you are, mate. Keep up the very, very good work. You deserve more subs.

    I bought a WS2 as I have been using a desk for the last 20 years, updated to the G923 with H shifter from a Momo & had issues keeping the wheel & shifter on the desk while using Dirt rally 2, the WS2 works well with my computer chair as the arm rest folds up out of the way. No complaints from me & very happy with the result apart from the weight of the WS2, might end up putting castor wheels on the wheel stand.

    I found that it's best to remove the armrest on the shifter side of most gaming chairs of any wheel stand like this. Also for thrustmaster/Logitech wheels users the steering wheel is much shorter than the direct drive setup used in this video. I can say with confidence that this stand or any similar stand with the arm rest removed shouldn't have the issues like in this video.

    I don't understand why manufacturers of gaming chairs use "ordinary" castors so you are forced to find some way of preventing the chair from moving. Castors are available with manually activated brakes but far better are castors whuch brake when a weight is applied (e.g. when you sit on them) and ae free when unloaded. I searched online for replacement castors for my gaming chair and could only find thsie with manually activated brakes but load activated ones do exist for office chairs. i wouldn't have thought such an imptovement would add much to the cost of the chair.

The pedals can then be adjusted to compensate for the further distance from the stand.

    Hi Karl,
    Thanks for all the reviews. All very informative and allowed me to dive into world of sim racing setups :)
    Specifically for CSL DD 8nm, would you recommend a foldable setup like F GT Lite or a wheel stand? Considering 8nm is a decent torque, and you mentioned in recent upgrade video that solid cockpit is crucial, i was leaning towards this wheel stand (yes, low on space). But i noticed your answer under this video, where you prefer PS challenge over any wheelstand.
    Now I am scratching my head in confusion! Which rig is better for 8nm DD? Should i go for a 'full' foldable cockpit, or with 8nm it would be better to have something more stable like this wheelstand? I was under impression it would be better to pick wheel stand 2.0 to avoid damping i'd get from gt flexing.

    hey Karl! this is a good review of the NLR wheel stand 2.0, however i think you should've actually read the user manual beforehand.
    the wheel caster bar has adjustable distance which would've made it work out really well with any office chair or "gaming" chair if you set it to the furthest setting.
    the wheel caster bar also comes with specific washers which are supposed to prevent it from flapping around and unscrewing itself whenever you fold it, i don't know if you used these washers when you set the stand up?
    if you still have this stand around, you should try what i wrote above and if it works out for you like it does to me than i think you should add annotations in this video where you complain about the wheel caster bar

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  2 роки тому

      I of course read the manual (best not to assume I didn't in future), I even covered the adjustable distance in the video and said it was all the way out (you perhaps didn't watch the whole video or were not paying full attention?), also no it did not come with washers to stop the bolts unscrewing, this was a review sample and I suspect that was added in afterwards as feedback showed it was a problem.

    • @HoLDoN4Sec
      @HoLDoN4Sec 2 роки тому +2

      @@KarlGosling hello Karl, i actually have watched the video fully from start to finish.
      i have not assumed that you didn't read the user manual, the reason i noted you did not read the manual is because in the video itself you yourself mentioned that you did not read the user manual lol
      i'm sure the version you received is likely a review sample, but in the video even i can see that on the caster holders you didn't configure them to the furthest setting (if you watch closely you can see that they are configured to the closest setting and have an excess screw hole poking out from the front which shows that).
      again i am not going against you, i've watched many of your videos and i have most of my setup thanks to your reviews, i just happen to notice that in this particular video you could've done a little bit better thats all.
      peace ✌🏻

    Was wondering what could be most interesting in the folding rigs: fgt lite or wheel stand 2.0...since i do feel a lot of upwards and downwards flex steering wheel/base wise on the fgt lite...would i make a better choice switching to the wheel stand combined with a half taken apart fgt lite / ikea poang chair / office chair? Or just stick to the fgt lite?

    • @slimracer1553
      @slimracer1553 2 роки тому +2

      I will be purchasing the 2.0 as I currently use a wheelstand pro and a IKEA poäng when I race. The poäng does provide a decent and comfy seating position but it flexes/moves when braking or steering to wildly. It seems that its not to uncommon to mod the the chair with supports under the armrests to make it more solid and stop it from tilting back. That mod + some antislip under it will probably be my solution.

      The point of the included "Chair Link" is literally because a lot of people do use office and gaming chairs. If you are buying a wheel stand, an entire dedicated racing rig is likely outside of your budget or wants/needs. This is a great solution for most people. The issue of it being too short as shown in this video has actually been addressed and is now much longer (because yes usability goes before complete realism).

    Huge yikes, my Secret Lab Evo xl looks exactly like your chair, so I think I might be in for a rude awakening once the stand (finally) arrives, - ordered in November, looking at mid February stock. Also I'm a bit alarmed about you saying it's not as sturdy as their DD stand - from my research it seemed the materials are about the same? The thing is I got tired of Fanatec's delays with CSL DD so I cancelled my order and got Simucube 2 Pro instead, which seems to be overkill for this stand even on lower torque settings. With so much waiting involved I also got HE Sprints, I'm happy to see the plate seems to be sturdy enough... I hope.
