(not saying it's a great time at all lol) BUT This is a great time to work on all those shoes you've been neglecting! Make sure to let me know how they turn out, happy to help bro!
Hey Bro, It's Ruination! I gotta say, this video couldn't have been more clutch right now! To think it was made about two years ago!! Thanks to you and this video, I put in an order for a dremel tool. I have a thick crust of krazy glue to power through in many areas and all that time spent scrapping wasn't the way. I'm definitely going to implement your three layer process on the leather part. Your ideology makes sense, because why not go over that area three times with three different methods to make sure you get all the old adhesive off? I wasn't entirely confident in getting this re-glue project done right, but now I'm 100% I can bring these old Nike Retro 13's back from the abyss! Thanks, yet again Raleigh.
This is awesome, I was hoping u would do a reglue soon!! I have watched the video 2 times already and watching now while typing!! Reglues give me so much trouble I actually gave up and stopped doing them!! I am gonna try this method on these cdp bred 15s I just hot yesterday!! Thank u for honesty and just being the best
Robert deer don't even stress, I was the exact same way. I used to avoid taking reglue jobs because I wasn't comfortable doing them. Tried a bunch of different ways. This method (at least for me) was the breakthrough, I now LOVE doing reglues! Good luck and keep me posted!
Huge help! In the process of re gluing completely separated soles on a clients bred 11s... been holding back because I didn’t wanna mess things up. Thanks again!!
Awesome man! Glad it helped! Sorry we haven't uploaded In a few weeks. We're working on a hire project which we can't dsocuss or film 😢. I'll be sure to let you guys know asap, and will resume creating content for you to learn as soon as we do! 🙏
Wow! I thought I'd try to reglue the sole to my pricey sesto meucci's, but your video has changed my mind. I think i'll take them to the shoe shop instead. This is probably okay, however, for a novice to try on some old scruffy shoes.
Bro, thank you so MUCH! This is extent what I'm looking for! I need to get a couple more products then I'll begin my first restoration! I'll be in touch 😎👊👍
Awesome, glad to see artists out there working! We have lots of other resources, and material for you to learn and better your craft! You can check them all out at landing.raleighrestorations.com
Great video, clear instructions! One question, would you consider any other type of glue that could potentially do equal or even better, maybe last longer or have a stronger grip? Even if it's more expensive like polyurethane glue, polymer glue, weatherstrip adhesive(black rubber), or even epoxy in places and types of shoes where not much flexibility is required, etc. Thank you!
Thanks, I'm glad you got some value/info from it! As far as the glue goes, this glue has never given me a reason to not use it, so i haven't explored that area or need!
Ever heard of shoe goo?? I guess, in my opinion tho, there’s just so many different factors &. . . Umm. .. . Scenarios. Overall, I’d say the amount (number) of different ways that shoes could possibly wind up, falling or just simply, coming apart. Is a figure which I believe to be infinite ♾. In or @ the absolute least, the matter at hand isn’t such which anyone ought attempt labeling w/a # because it couldn’t ever be anything greater, or other than an ‘educated’ guess at best
Wait up, perhaps this’ll help others whom actually are following along. Ok, so is it only just areas which have bin heated, by the gun &/or hair dryer, that are going to or that will stick??
I wish I seen this years ago! I reglued one sole on my OG Cherry XII’s and it didn’t line up perfectly. So I left the other shoe unglued. Now I have a reference to reglue proper. I just need to find that Barge cement you have.
No doubt! Better late than never and I'm glad you found us! There's a link in the video description to order on amazon as I've never found it in stores. It's not cheap but lasts a long time and nothing compares!
I bought some 1990 Boks Rebel boots by Reebok. They are light tan suede with black soles. My shoe guy told me to kick rocks and that he wouldn't touch a reglue of these shoes because the suede was so dry it was sure to "soak up" into the uppers. Tape isn't going to help remedy the issue. Any suggestions for me before I get started? Your video has already saved these Boks once already--thanks for that!
One thing that is not always covered about old sneakers. There is usually some shrinkage in the upper and the midsole,.less so with the outsole. What you have is the parts do not align anymore. There is no way to glue except to stitch
Christopher Rivera nice well hopefully the this helps! If the uppers weren't so banged up, usually I'd opt out of the repaint. A general cleansing can do wonders! Best of luck and let me know how it turns out!
What's the heating for and what if you don't have heatgun, why dont just stick them after the 5 minutes dry period? Is PU adhesive different instructions compare to a common rubber based contact cement where they just tell you to contact them after 5 minutes?
Informative and dry humor, no extra charge. Well maybe. I just need to send my boot up to you. Leather from 80s or 90s, maybe earlier. A rubberized type sole. The whole thing just peeled off. I watched videos and used Barge in the red and yellow can. I thought it was on for good. But, noooo . . . . Peeled off again, Maestro. I'm like, 'how the heck could this happen?' With some expletives.
I think if I was doing my own shoes, I'd put some index marks on the parts before I took it apart. I would make aligning it on reassembly a lot easier.
Here in the Philippines, Acetone is banned. We only have acetone included as a nail polish remover, Would that suffice? or can you recommend another ¨acetone¨ like cleaner.
Hey sorry to hear about that! We actually work with a distributor @Sneaksandlacesph (sneaksandlaces.com/) I believe they'll have alternatives such as @angelusdirect "preparer and deglazer" that will work!
Shoukd you remove the sole completely or just fix the exposed parts if your running shoes been left unused for 2 years and the sole starting to seperate with area"s" exposed when you start use it again
I was just gifted a pair of Air Stabs and the bottom instantly fell off 😢 Im stoked to see all if not lost, they're so comfortable regardless. Kind of wish i would've checked what they were going for used before wearing them but hey haha 😅
No problem brother! And we personally recommend the clear versions as when regluing certain "clear" or "icy" soles, this gives the best original finish to the re-glue!

How can i fix my sport nike air max 93, one part mising, but not with the air, normal part, white one. Is there any material which can be add like some foam or silikon which can be cut and shape later?
Hey man I enjoy your videos do you have any restoration tips on Kobe 10’s as far as the toe of the shoe would love to send pics and get a better vision of what I’m trying to restore if possible
Yep! It'd be perfect for those, that's actually the first shoe I used this method on. Getting that midsole onto the upperly cleanly WAS a pain before this method! Good luck, just take your time and follow along the steps in the video!
great great video I will try this ! just I would like to know well , you put for every glue 1 coat or 2 coat each side ? how long I need wait when I want put a second coat of barge ? I put one coat then I wait 8 min to put second coat then I wait 2 hours then I use heat ? thanks to let me know please ! I appreciate your science
Great video good info I be doing mine reglues by section also so it's good to see that method works out best but only thing is I don't wait 2 hours for the uppers I do 8 minutes but why wait 2 hours for the upper?
once it's set 8 minutes, the glue can still grab. If you wait hours, you can fully fit and place the pieces, then hold together while heating. It's very hard to maneuver the pieces when all the glue is active (8 minutes).
In south Louisiana, I’m doing this outside and I think I’m either heating up the glue to hot or the outside conditions are killing me. I’ve tried super stick and regular yellow/red barges.
I'm about to do my first reglue on a pair of 11's. How did yours go? I'm thinking of buying an old junk pair at the thrift store to practice on first. A pain in the ass to be sure, but I'll probably be thankful I made first mistake on that first!
@@seangalvin3196 honestly for like my 3rd try they came out great but I know I did something wrong cuz the glue did not bond enough and they started separating again after like a week, so ima just leave it to the pros and pay someone to do them 😅😂
Great video. I got a pair of Kobe 6 grinch I need to reglue. I’m a little worried about lining it up since the heel cup has that plastic part.Any tips of any videos working on the model ?
My reglues never last that long, I do exactly this method. Maybe its the lack of pressure to seal? Idk whats wrong. Any advice? O use the heat gun, I evenly coat everything. I wait minimum 8 min for it to dry and then I clamp
Maybe need to apply more pressure with you hands when you're "pressing" to get it to stick. If still having issues, take more time to prep, or ensure your glue coverage is good!
Can’t the midsole foam part be reshaped if it’s hot and you’re pressing on it? Or even leave your actual footprint? Also I noticed the oils/dirt in your hands get onto the white as it’s kinda hot trynna heat up that glue and if you use acetone it doesn’t make the little groves look the same as the rest of the shoe assuming it’s a factory finish, also I noticed towards the ends there was a big gap in the back that kinda look like the midsole was bigger than the uppers , is that just how it looks before you push up or is there another step we should be doing in between there?
Yes it can and will. You need to ensure you don't over heat that foam but heat the glue enough to activate it. The gap could've been distributed a bit more toward the front, but it wasn't enough to redo the job. There is almost always a gap on the front or back of the shoe due to the way the shoe "bends" when walking (think of heel to toe "rolling"). So in this case to close the gap I used my hands to press the shoe down on the heel to mimic the person walking to close up that gap natrually!
I have a pair of Nike Air Max 2 Zoom golf shoes that have uppers in great shape, but the soles have seperated badly. The material inside is like a white caulk and the air pockets have split. I looked for a donor pair for the air pockets, but can't find a similar shoe, golf or otherwise, anywhere. Model is 183159 ( I think I got the right number). Any suggestions? Another youtuber said something in his video about different models using the same midsoles. On mine the air module is visiable all the way around from the mid inside to the mid outside. Haven't seen any others like that. Any help would be appreciated. Very great video BTW, well done.
Ah unfortunately those are (i believe) a one of a kind midsole, so trying to find a "donor" pair to swap it with wouldn't be possible unless you bought a newer pair of them :( And I appreciate the support and glad you like our videos, sorry I couldn't be of more help on this particular issue!
