The last 2k i bought was 2k17, and before that 2k14, none of them a regrettable purchase. I believe after 6 iterations it's time to get myself another! Buying the game once at least every five years is the best bet I suppose.
I grew up playing bulls vs lakers in the 90's and how much time we put into it. When 2k11 came out it was a gamechanger. Being able to play as jordan and to try and match his stats during his career were next level. Hopefully future 2k's think along those lines and not just monetizing the game.

I’m here to play actual basketball with teams, so none of the micro transactions apply to me. I never understand why people invest so much into MyPlayer.
I doubt I buy it this year. Until they decide to put all focus into one game i'm out. City is great but after having to run from one end to the other for the 20th time, it gets annoying. They need quality of life improvements for the city.
Being objective ever year, this is a good year to pick up the game whether you bought it last year or not. Jordan mode is back and expanded, MyNBA is expanded and revamped, myplayer is revamped(remains to be seen if it's good or will be patched to hell), and MyTeam always has a ton of content. I feel like this is one of those 2k's I'll fw for a few years. They really dropped the ball not doing a Kobe mode a few years back so I'm glad one is here.

It seems like every year it's the same game with some minor changes but with more microtransactions. I haven't bought a NBA 2k title since 2k16 although I did get 2k21to have for the next gen(current gen now). Other than having access to 2k22 when I want to because of my Playstation subscription, this will be the only NBA 2K title I get because of The Jordan challenges,otherwise I don't see the sense of buying the same game every year and to be honest I'm not in a rush to pick up this title either.

2k has become so unenjoyable. Animations are tied to badge level. Which discounts the attributes that you spend vc I mean money on. Same game. Horrible servers. Costs a ton just to have little rewards, short career, unfair start at a 60 and little emphasis on the NBA.
I stopped buying 2k years ago once they started making MyCareer a massive p2w and grind fest. Not very fun when I can’t even make a decent layup because my player goes into some trash animation and looks like he shouldn’t have even been drafted.
I feel you. I had got into an argument with my friend about the amount of time and money you have to put in. He had 7-10 hours a day to play and meet people that's what makes him competitive. Plus the animations have gotten out of hand. why get on when people are going to clearly go to specific animations and cheese.
Are all of this improvements for both generation of consoles or just for the new gen, and the old gen versions will be a repeat of the past years version?

I bought nba 2k22 last year. put in 198 hours and nearly 2 seasons playing most games, attend practices and drills . still didn't get my MPLAYER to above 85. the leveling up should be easier 70 bucks and not getting to build your player the way you want without shelling out another 20 bucks is lame

And I couldn’t skip ANY of this and just play the games only. Felt so weird and I ended up quitting out and never got back into it. Might try this year with MyLeague

unless it has a revamped mycareer i'm sticking with nba 2k22 that i bought for $9 and use WeMod Cheat Trainer to get pass the Micro-transaction grind on PC. Currently playing on the Pelicans with a 92 rated player because of the light grind I been playing through with the help of the trainer. Just like Madden, unless they actually improve the game stick with the previous game instead. Also, don't mention the wemod trainer on steam, you will get a warning and or ban

2K talks about everything but fixing the gameplay. The movement is terrible, the players look boxed shaped. Just like in real basketball players movement gets better.

2K talks about everything but fixing the gameplay. The movement is terrible, the players look boxed shaped. Just like in real basketball players movement gets better.

Basically, if you own 2k22 on current Gen (last gen) do not buy 2k23. If you're on next gen then it's worth the money.
