This man is very intelligent. I like watching new inventions. This is why I come here to watch videos. I love learning new things. Congratulations to him on his journey of discovery.
Yeah, I was just layin' there on the beach, and I look up and see this giant, wooden, forty-legged, caterpillar-robot thing comin' right at me. Well, yeah, I was drinking a little. Why?
I wonder about the emergent properties of herds of Strandbeest. Maybe they are able to sculpt the sand in a way that increases airflow to certain areas of the beach as a form of charging station. What wonderful creatures, I look forward to seeing Theos further creations!
I just love that idea. It would be such a joy to see them swarming. They would need some way to sense the proximity from one another and a way to align their direction. It would be just lovely to find a way to do the sensing mechanically: mechanical antennas. Theo Janson must be working on something like this
Leonardo Da Vinci reborn is what I'm thinking.. Amazing Design mister.. I just can't stop watching Thank you bigtime for sharing this with us all.. 💕✌️😊💕
Part of the delight, charm, fascination and (dare I say it?) macabre creepiness of Theo's wonderful strandbeests comes from the colour of the plastic tubing he uses to create them, which looks remarkably like old bone. They'd be far less engaging and 'organic' if the tubing were black, white, grey or red. The sight of animated skeletons galloping over the sand will never get old.
Now I know why the pas de deux from the ballet Spartacus has been running through my head recently. How does he get these beests to the beach and back. Are they collapsible? And, how are they financed? Is he a billionaire?
How in the world does he transport these things to the beach from where ever he makes them? And where does he store them? They'd take up one heck of a lot of space.
You notice how most of these people who own black shirts are not inside watching the news and polotics? They are outside creating beutiful master art forms and providing somthing worth watching! infact, I'm relaxing watching this instead of the junk tube and creating awesome work inside while enjoying somthing safe
Thats some crazy cool inventions id like to see one of these build and put on one the islands that have tribes that never see stuff and what how they react I think that would be very amusing
you can do a search for the artist if you have not already done so by now and discover the information you desire about these creations... the artist has provided schematics for some of these in the past so you could build your own in theory
Spectacular - I've never seen anything like this. They move so lifelike. This man is truly the definition of an artist AND engineer.
WoW. This is the true authentic meaning of genuine ART!
Beyond amazing and beyond intelligent. No words can simply describe this.

Fabulous engineering skills and craftsmanship. Wild imagination filled with fantasy. Thank You Theo.
Aplausos!!!!
it's beautiful and eerie at the same time.
just the words i was looking for. add 'sinuous'
Eerie because they are like robots and that's not the path we want to take ..
This is beyond amazing. They are so lifelike even though you can see they are made of wood and probably thin paper or cloth.
fancy seeing you here but they are made from some sort of plastic pipe and cloth

Yeah, I was just layin' there on the beach, and I look up and see this giant, wooden, forty-legged, caterpillar-robot thing comin' right at me. Well, yeah, I was drinking a little. Why?

They're completely harmless and peaceful and graceful thank you very much.
Thanks Radiolab Newsletter! I would have never found this on my own, but its beautiful and soothing. Great video!
I wonder about the emergent properties of herds of Strandbeest. Maybe they are able to sculpt the sand in a way that increases airflow to certain areas of the beach as a form of charging station. What wonderful creatures, I look forward to seeing Theos further creations!
Maybe their build themselves a colony like ants, or a pier to get more wind further out to sea!
I just love that idea. It would be such a joy to see them swarming. They would need some way to sense the proximity from one another and a way to align their direction. Sometimes they get tired and they lie down.

Well all this just summs up the poetry of the world and human capability in such a way, that makes existence justifiable.
Never saw anything like that! I'd would have to say you're a genius and have a lot of patience!
So special...
I love it!
Really poetic. You even feel pain for them when they stumble.
This is simply amazing, it makes me wonder how it could be applied into someone's daily life !
Amazing... no more words needed... just AMAZING.
WOW Genial!!! Meine Hochachtung! :)
Tellement loin des patinettes électroniques ! Quelle patience et quel inventivité !

Now I know why the pas de deux from the ballet Spartacus has been running through my head recently.
How does he get these beests to the beach and back. Are they collapsible?
And, how are they financed? Is he a billionaire?

They remind me of some creatures that would show up in a Miyazaki film! It's stunning.
Absolutely delightful.

Very Nice
You’ve made an impression on the video game world my friend, they’re turning this into an indie game.
How in the world does he transport these things to the beach from where ever he makes them? And where does he store them? They'd take up one heck of a lot of space.
Amazing
Modern Leonardo. Beautiful.
great!
hermoso!
Curious as to how long it takes to make one creation?
You notice how most of these people who own black shirts are not inside watching the news and polotics? Le Léonard de Vinci moderne! 😍
The best part is the cat in the background in one shot.
Wow, how is it possible that they move so perfectly just with wind....
Why isn't there more information about this project and its developer?
you can do a search for the artist if you have not already done so by now and discover the information you desire about these creations... the artist has provided schematics for some of these in the past so you could build your own in theory
Génial !
Last oasis anyone?;)
