Left side: she keeps her weight back and rotates through her hips, driving the ball in sequence. Her old swing was out of sync and too reliant on arms. Great work
Awesome Video! Huge improvement. Are there any drills to help with the back lean of the upper body, besides verbally telling her. (she looks like someone you could say do this with your upper body and she can do it immediately. I saw a guy a few years ago and he would take a bungie cord or ropes around the upper body and he would pull the player forward toward the pitcher which helped the player learn that he had to get into that position she is in here by fighting the cord that was pulling him forward. You think that would work or would you video them and show them they are not pulling back with the upper body and have them keep doing it until they see it on the video and feel it?

Looks good. It's definitely an improvement in form, but I can't help but feel like the weight of the bat is playing a large part in the swing difference.

Matt....What are your long term coaching goals/aspirations? Do you want to expand what you are building on or do you see yourself shifting to a managing position for HS/College/Minor/Pro?
Hey Matt, quick question, I started playing softball this year, and I start my batting position with my feet about shoulder distance apart or a little bit further before I step into launch position, but my softball coach told me that that is only for baseball and that for softball I should start with my feet very close together (about a foot or so), do you have any thoughts on this?

God have mercy... Decent swing, but an awful swing.
Now i at least have it better. Worked everyday on it, but ive still got some more to do.
Back then i could only identify some of the problems with her first swing, now i can identify almost all of them.
That means i can identify them in mine to now :)

How bent do you want your front leg after your hips open? Completely straight, right?
Completely straight. You want your legs looking like an "A" after following through on your swing. Front leg straight, back leg/knee creating that "A" shape, if that makes sense.
I used to work with Rick Wilkins, former MLB catcher, who's now an instructor, or was when i was younger. Something he told me that always stuck with me, almost 2 decades later. Loved working with that man...

I play 14 u baseball and I all if the sudden am pulling my head away from the ball when I field a ground ball and i mentally want to attack it but it just wont stop and idk why
I used to play ball myself i’m 23 now...and from my experience i had phases where i would do that. For me it was mental. Maybe your just a little bit afraid of the ball right now? I would say take a few grounders rolled to you. Than have a few hit by bat lightly....then have em hit kinda game speed. Wear a chest protector if it makes you feel better too! At the end of the day it’s just a ball if you get hit it’ll only hurt for alittle!
