I was offered a few spots but decided against it. Wanted to be home after being away for most of my baseball career. And some coaches had a huge impact, some none at all. Really depends. Thanks for watching!!
I am a bar boy who has bat boy ed for 8 different college summer baseball teams Wilson Tons of the Coastal Plain League, East Cobb Patriots, 643 DP Cougars, Douglasville Bulls, Alpharetta Aviators of the Sunbelt Baseball League and managed one juco basketball team Chattahoochee Technical College basketball team. I am a former neighbor as well as my dad lived there for over a year, my mom, and a friend rented a room right next door to a Wake Forrest football alumnus, Carolina Panthers practice squad member.
What's going on when an infielder visits the mound? Is he discussing strategy with the pitcher, hearing what the manager/pitching coach has to say, or is he just getting the dirt off his spikes and playing with the rosin bag?
Great video Matt! What were some of the nastiest pitches ever thrown to you? Does one pitcher or one pitch stand out? Also, what were some of the best defensive highlights you've ever seen on the field? Haha, a lot of questions but I'd love to see a video on this if you're able to make one!
Who can someone contact in an MLB organization if they are looking to become a bullpen catcher? How does someone get to become a bullpen catcher? Do teams hold tryouts for bullpen catchers?
Ha I remember that year on fantasy team, I also had Brady for the first and only time, then to see him go down I was like NOOOOO! luckily I ended being able to get Matt Ryan and he did pretty good that year
Have you ever heard of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and have you ever played with any pitchers that had it done? TOS is a shoulder problem that requires surgery to fix.
Not sure if you've answered this in another video, but when you see players either get really mad at umpires for a bad call on a pitch or they just talk to them calmly about the pitch, what do they say?
Hey Matt, great content as always. Quick question, and one you can probably speak to as a person who faced this choice... What are the pros and cons of going straight to the minors vs playing college baseball for 4 years? Is there a huge difference in skill between say, low-A ball and Division I college ball? Would a player develop faster under the coaching in the minors than at a college program? It's got to be tough, because if you are an elite prospect in high school an MLB team may try and lure you with a signing bonus but you may have scholarship offerings to consider as well. Thanks again for these vids!! Love this channel.
Pam Zanco yeah after the game everybody has got to shower then they get something to eat. They review film the next day. The review film everyday to get a report on hitters and if they need to shift and also watch film on the pitchers on that team and especially the one that would be starting that game
What was the clubhouse atmosphere like with players from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic etc.... (if u answer this please be nice about the Puerto Ricans. I'm on of them lol)
I'm curious how you feel about female reporters being in the locker room when you're changing clothes. Or just reporters in general while in various states of undress and asking dumb questions. I remember in college we didn't have any choice in the matter and the more modest guys would slip their shorts on with a towel wrapped around the waste. But some reporters would wait at the shower room exit and watch for certain players to exit. Personally I thought it was odd because in high school no reporters at all were allowed in the locker rooms. I'm talking in the mid 1980s. I never had aspirations for going pro but I loved playing hockey and socker. Baseball and track too.
You know what I think would be great? Getting your thoughts on movies like Major League or Major League 2 like have you seen any of this stuff? Or how realistic is the life of minor leaguers in Bull Durham!
Hey Matt, new to your channel. Really enjoying the content. Sorry if someone has already asked you this or if you've mentioned it in your videos, but I always wondered how it works... Do you have to pay dues for the foodjjj in the clubhouse? Say you you grab a protein shake and some supps after a workout or eat a pregame meal. Does the team cover the cost or do they make you pay for it? Also, if you pay for it, do they make you do it up front or take it out of you paycheck?
Thanks!!! You can eat and drink whatever you want but you have to pay dues. In minors you write them a check. Majors came out of check I believe. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@AntonelliBaseball I have seen a game in 22 out of the 30 MLB stadiums. Fenway is my favorite so far. I felt like a kid going to that park (a kid who had just come from Cask and Flagon lol)

Have you considered going back into the MLB but as a coach, like a hitting coach? Also how effective were the coaches to you when you were playing?
I was offered a few spots but decided against it. Wanted to be home after being away for most of my baseball career. And some coaches had a huge impact, some none at all. Really depends. Thanks for watching!!
Antonelli Baseball Thanks!

What's going on when an infielder visits the mound? Is he discussing strategy with the pitcher, hearing what the manager/pitching coach has to say, or is he just getting the dirt off his spikes and playing with the rosin bag?
Usually strategy or finding out which sign it will be with a runner on 2B. Thanks for watching!!

In highschool, is it better to focus on baseball or play multiple sports?
I did a video on that a few days ago. Thanks for watching!!
What are some of the meals that you guys eat after games? Is there any particular stadium that had the best food?
What do MLB players practice before games? Like do players get a Infield/ Outfield and Hit BP? Is there anything else that they do?
Have you considered writing a book if you haven't yet (have you written a book?)
I haven't, but maybe I should lol. Thanks for watching!!

Antonelli Baseball Yea, we'll go with that. Nice video
Thank you for making this I've always wanted to know
Thanks for watching!!

I never did! I wish I had. Thanks for watching!!!
Matt can you do a video on what rookie development camp is like? If you ever went
Sure thing!! Thanks for watching!!!
Did you ever play in Wrigley and if so how bad was the clubhouse?
Do MLB players play MLB the Show? Do they care about their rating?
Lyndon .Haynie I don't think they had MLB the show back then
MLB the show franchise Highlights yeah they did, and if it wasn't as big as it was today, they had other MLB games.
MLB the show franchise Highlights MLB 2k was really popular.
I used to play. My rating always stunk lol. Thanks for watching!!
Antonelli Baseball what was ur overall on mlb 2k or the show
What do infielders and outfielders talk about during pitching changes?
Really depends. Sometimes the game. Sometimes nothing to do about baseball lol. Thanks for watching!!
Love your videos Matt!
Who can someone contact in an MLB organization if they are looking to become a bullpen catcher? How does someone get to become a bullpen catcher? Do teams hold tryouts for bullpen catchers?
Usually you need to know someone. There isn't really tryouts or anyone to call. Thanks for watching!!
Antonelli Baseball I need to get me a friend who’s in the Majors. I have friends who are coaches, but in the minors.
What happens when the season ends and what do you do leading up to spring training
Can you do a video on if it is more difficult to make it to the MLB as a righty.
Yes it is. That's why I had my son hit lefty lol. Thanks for watching!!
Ha I remember that year on fantasy team, I also had Brady for the first and only time, then to see him go down I was like NOOOOO! luckily I ended being able to get Matt Ryan and he did pretty good that year
By the way, recently found your channel been going through the vid, love learning how it all works in baseball.
Haha yup it was a tough year! Thanks for watching!!!
Have you ever heard of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and have you ever played with any pitchers that had it done? TOS is a shoulder problem that requires surgery to fix.
I have not heard of it. Thanks for watching!!
Can you make a video on what you do during the offseason
I think I already did, but I can probably make another one. Thanks for watching!!
How wall connected are you to the Wake Forrest football team?
If you are a starting pitcher on their off day what time would they come in for a 7 a clock game?
Henry Peter Gustafson usually all players come around 12:30 or 1
Depends on what they need to get down that day. Most players show up around 1-2 I'd say.
What is the process like of getting drafted
I have a video on it if you go back a few weeks. Thanks for watching!!
Antonelli Baseball just watched it. Love your channel
Did you play at SkyDome/Roger's Centre? Also do visiting teams have access to weight rooms?
Nope never got a chance to play there. And yes visiting teams do get access to weight room. Thanks for watching and commenting!
if your friends with Braun tell him Curry said wassup we played together in high school against matt cassell. The videos are awesome.
Not sure if you've answered this in another video, but when you see players either get really mad at umpires for a bad call on a pitch or they just talk to them calmly about the pitch, what do they say?
Yes I just put a video up about that a few days ago. Thanks for watching!!
Did you play with Aaron Cunningham either with the Indians or the padres ?
Idk if you've done a video of this before, but what do the managers talk about before/after games?
Have you played at Kauffman Stadium
Can you do a video about playing against a former team?
Hey Matt, great content as always. Quick question, and one you can probably speak to as a person who faced this choice...

What happens right after you get drafted?
I made a video about that a few weeks ago if you go back you will find it. Thanks for watching!!!
Does the trainer provide tape and stuff for players?
Yup!!! Thanks for watching!
If you’re in the club house and you want food that was meant for fans, does the clubhouse have someone you can send?
What goes on in the clubhouse after the game? How long do you have to stay?
Maybe hop in the cold tub then shower then get dressed then get something to eat
So you can just leave when you want? The coach doesn't require you stay for a while to review the game?
Pam Zanco yeah after the game everybody has got to shower then they get something to eat. They review film the next day. The review film everyday to get a report on hitters and if they need to shift and also watch film on the pitchers on that team and especially the one that would be starting that game
I got over that in a few of my other videos if you want to go back and check them out. Thanks for watching!!
What was the clubhouse atmosphere like with players from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic etc.... (if u answer this please be nice about the Puerto Ricans. I'm on of them lol)
Haha I'll put something up for you! Thanks for watching!!!

When you’re on the 40 man do you still get paid big league bucks? Or do you still get paid the Minor league Salary?
I think it was like 40,000 first year and like 70,000 second if you were on 40 man but in minors. Thanks for watching!!!
You know what I think would be great? Getting your thoughts on movies like Major League or Major League 2 like have you seen any of this stuff? Or how realistic is the life of minor leaguers in Bull Durham!
I wonder what players would workout after the game.
What's was your favorite moments or highlights of your career on and off the field
My MLB debut for sure! Thanks for watching!!!
Where do you practice at in MLB
There aren't practices. You just workout before games. Thanks for watching!!!
What about team meetings? any yelling and screaming?
Petco is gorgeous. Great story.
Absolutely! Thanks for watching our stuff and commenting!
Hey Matt, new to your channel. Really enjoying the content.
Sorry if someone has already asked you this or if you've mentioned it in your videos, but I always wondered how it works... Do you have to pay dues for the foodjjj in the clubhouse? What about MLB chatter? Do’s or don’t on saying different things
How many bathroom stalls?
ever come across a rival from college or high school and see them in the minors or bigs
Yup plenty of times! Thanks for watching!!!
I don't even have notifications...
I'm wondering of some of the older stadiums' visitor's clubhouses were purposely designed to make the visiting team less comfortable.
Definitely feels like it lol. Thanks for watching our videos and commenting!
Does theft goes on in the clubhouses?
Why do you always use the same thumbnail template
It's easier to use. I don't have many pictures of myself lol. Thanks for watching!!
The thumbnail doesn't bother me I think it's a good picture of Matt and I know right away what it is i like it
Tadahito Ideguchi. Didn’t even know he played for the Padres!
How is it like being traded
Will make a video for you! Thanks for watching!!!
Make a video on what you do to break in a new glove
I did. If you go back through my old videos you will find it. Thanks for watching!!

Nope never had that happen to me luckily! Thanks of watching!!
Can you watch old baseball games on that computer thingy
Yes you can! Thanks for watching!!

Where’s the GMs office?
I was never in our GM's office, so not totally sure. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Did you have relationships with the clubbies or did they not really talk?
Yeah I knew all the clubbies really well. Most end up feeling like part of the team. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I'd imagine it was harder to get to know major league players because everyone kind of did their own thing. Did you make lasting friendships with any?
I wasn't up long enough to. All of my friends were my minor league friends that eventually moved up. Thanks for watching and commenting!
" What is your earliest memory of seeing a Major League Stadium for the first time ? " ⚾️
Fenway park, but not sure how old I was. Just remember thinking it was awesome. Thanks for watching!!
@@AntonelliBaseball I have seen a game in 22 out of the 30 MLB stadiums. Fenway is my favorite so far. I felt like a kid going to that park (a kid who had just come from Cask and Flagon lol)
talk about when you see a game on TV, there are no one in the stands. How do these MLB clubs make any money?

Matt you forgot clubhouse fees and Tip to clubbiest
Matt always says "some people would jump into that or jump into this" does anyone ever walk into something?
I prefer to jump! lol. Thanks for watching!!
As a Dolphins fan, I'm sick of seeing the beatings the Patriots have put on us twice a year
Say it was a late game, got your shower in and got sleepy on the couch, could you spend the night in the clubhouse?
You probably wouldn’t be able to wear the Japanese batting gloves because of your deal with Nike
You know what they say about big hands?????
Big Gloves.
Yes sir! Thanks for watching!!!
I know you're exaggerating, but if you have a 2-0 count on December 3rd, you got a good chance of walking. Lol
Haha! Thanks for watching!!!
No problem. Enjoy watching. I'd like to hear about how the umpires change through the levels and some of your experiences/interactions with them.
What do they do when you have ripped pants? New ones or such them up?
Also... Really? A Brady fan
Smh
Who was playing on December 3rd? Lol
Matt what about meal money on road trips? How much of it ended up in your pocket? Come on admit it I won’t tell
