It never ever seems to amaze me just how evil and brutal the British forces were against not only the Rebels but the civilian population. They treated them worst than animals. Another very informative video Davy and a great brief account of the United Irish men and the major battles. Go raibh maith agat. 🇮🇪💚🍀✊

And after all these years we have not learned that being brutal to an innocent civilian group leads to more rebels more retaliation and normally spurs an unwinnable gorilla war of constantly every enemy you kill, another 2 pop up in anger.

Your videos are so much appreciated by me, and if I could speak for others of Irish dissent, please keep doing what you’re doing. Although my grandmother was from Mallow, in County Cork, so were my great grandparents on my mother side, all Irish. Went to Ireland for my 40th birthday. And when my feet touched the grass, I felt like I was home. But the history is so complex and intriguing, you make it to where people can understand it. And I’m talking more about the conflicts. So please keep doing your videos in I love them.❤

It is sad how the irish forgot the Faith for which their ancestors were opressed and fought against the Crown. Many irishman outright hate the Faith of their ancestors

The British soldiers that played their part in invading ireland At the same time they was running the slave trade in England and selling coloured people in the market square like they was cattle rather than human beings the English considered this to be normal behaviour I always believed that these people was Barbarians.. 💓🇮🇪💓💓💓🇮🇪💓🇮🇪💓🇮🇪💓🇮🇪💓🇮🇪💓🇮🇪💓🇮🇪 England Steel hasn't realized that stealing the north of somebody else's country ireland over 100 years ago was clearly unacceptable behaviour from England. Most of the English people still don't understand the difference between right and wrong....

Great job! Never knew there were so many battles, a number of them successful in the 1798 rebellion. But, of course, You Know Who writes writes most of the histories that get published and they tend to trivialize all Irish efforts to obtain their freedom. How about a little something about "The Men of the West?"

The United Irishmen had no viable military structure. It was a coalition of poorly trained and armed local forces formed of farmers and rural folk led by largely clueless "well to do" leaders from disgruntled Catholic and Protestant backgrounds with precious little campaigning and combat experience. The demise of Gaelic Ireland stripped the country of the ability to organise and wage war against crown forces on any major and effective scale. By 1798, the most talented Gaelic military leaders were fighting with the armies of France, Austria, Spain and Russia, or plying their trade as officers in various armies in South America.

The men who were killed in the ambush in Carlow were buried in a mass grave too. 640 men are buried there. It’s terrible that such a number of people were betrayed by one of their own leaders
