    Best decision I've ever made is getting 12" needles from Chiaogoo. They make sleeves so much easier and they have kinks in the needles so they're much easier to use than 9" shorties. Highly recommend for knitting sleeves 😊

      I love ChiaoGoo 30cm circulars as well. I wish more companies produced needles in this lenght. I've also got 30cm circulars from Seeknit, but they are not great to work with (I guess it's the issue with bamboo - not sleek enough).

      Want to third this! The row counter plus shorties from knitters pride makes sleeves so much more enjoyable.

    Suggest ‘traveling loop’ using a long cable to avoid buying shorties. I have shorties but felt I was knitting tighter than usual. I don’t even notice I’m using a longer cable with the traveling loop. UA-cam has a few videos to show you how. 😊

    I never learned how to do the magic loops properly, and I really struggle with laddering when i use dpns, so I use shorties and I honestly love them, they end up saving me so much time ☺️

    Speaking from experience, purchasing a short circular needle for a sweater sleeve is absolutely money well spent

    As a fellow left handed knitter I understand the struggle reading patterns. Would like to see a video on how you use canva to manage this and any other difficulties you've encountered.

    I cannot wait to see your finished Hygge Burst Blanket. I've been looking at that pattern since you mentioned it in a previous video and I think I'll just jump in and start my own!! Oh, and all your projects (completed and in progress) are stunning!

    As always, such a wonderful podcast. Great detail on your knits and yarns. The fluffy scarf is gorgeous but the tedious fringe would stop me from knitting it, lol. You did a great job and I think the different lengths on the fringe is a unique touch.

    I've knit the Berlin scarf already and found out that just pulling the ends to the inside of the scarf without weaving them in looks great and they just stay in because the yarn is really fluffy and grabs on to those ends. I would recommend just doing that 😄

    Another great podcast. I love what you choose to knit, and the way you knit them. Your garments don’t look ‘hand made’. I also enjoying hearing about your yarn choices and why you chose them. Always an enjoyable video.

    So happy to have found your channel! Your aesthetic is very similar to mine so I'm getting a lot of great ideas. I'm mostly a (complex) sock knitter but I'm really interested in introducing more knitted garments into my wardrobe.

    For your Berlin scarf, count the rows of the shortest fringe that you knit and rip back the extra long fringes to the same length. It's so gorgeous and squishy! I may need to make one, it would be lovely with my red wool coat.

    I use Chiaogoo shorties for sleeves. But I also bought a longer cable to fit them so that I can do Magic Loop!!! I found that using shorties on their regular cable that my knitting tension was tighter. Sending you positive vibes for your sleeves 😊

    Another great episode! You would find the small Chiagoo needles wonderful for your sleeves. I don’t enjoy double points at all so do magic loop instead. But sleeves are so much easier on the small needles. I was glad to see your Berlin scarf and hear your thoughts on the pattern. I bought yarn to make it but haven’t bought the pattern. Yours will be beautiful , but I think I’ll look for another pattern 😊

    I so love that Rabbit rump yarn and wish it still existed! Interchangeable needles have been a game changer for me, but I have to say that I’ve found my wrists start to hurt if I am using both 2” needles. If I use a 3” in my dominant hand and 2” in my other hand it’s doable. I hope it works for you!

    Good morning, enjoying this episode very much. One question I have is that as you were discussing the Aurelia Pullover, I could see that you had row-counter beads hanging on the needle. Could you elaborate on your use of them? Thanks so much!

    • @neknits
      @neknits  2 місяці тому

      Happy to! It is a row counter by Twice Sheared Sheep and it has a chain of markers and numbers. Each row you move the counter up one marker, so the number bead you're currently on tells you what row you're on. I find it a little bit faster than a manual row counter kept separately, and it's harder to forget to use it!

    After knitting a bunch of hats in the beanie style I have come to not really care for the shape on my head. I've since switched to knitting hats that are closer to a 1920's cowl or a modified beret.

    Do you know how many grams or yards you need for each of the accent colors on three Stella cushion? How much fingering held double would I need per diagonal half square?
    I love my chiagoo shorties for sleeves. I also use the 2 1/2” Lykke on the shortest knitters pride cable

    • @neknits
      @neknits  2 місяці тому

      Each of my half-squares used 8g of the fingering weight yarn held double, so 16g total for each color (65 yds)

  • @maryleary3308
    @maryleary3308 3 місяці тому

    What is “double knitting”? I’ve heard the term without ever having an explanation.

    • @paigenewman6601
      @paigenewman6601 3 місяці тому +1

      it's a way of knitting a tube flat rather than in the round by knitting a stitch then slipping the next stitch in front. I don't really know how to explain it better than that, but people use it for things like button bands in order to get a stockinette look without it curling and, with it being two layers, is thicker and sturdier

      @neknits  2 місяці тому

    Your Ollie sweater is beautiful but I am definitely NOT a fan of the "hiked up in front" hem style, As someone who is very busty, ALL my garments are hiked up in front unless I make full bust adjustments.

    I feel like when a yarn dyer ĝifts you so much yarn, like arcane fiber works, it is maybe meant to use for some giveaways so your followers can give it a try. It looks like you keep all of that "gift" yarn for yourself? Nice

    • @neknits
      @neknits  2 місяці тому

      In a previous episode I had shared I would be giving away a lot of the Arcane Yarn, although the giveaway has not been announced yet!
