- Streets of Rage 4 is a brand new entry in the classic Sega Genesis series, developed by Dotemu, Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games. They had big shoes to fill, and I think the game they made is more than worthy of its name.

This was a much better run than my previous clear with Blaze. I thought for sure I'd like Blaze the most, but Adam might be even more fun to use. He's got nice mobility and good special attacks; he's just a really strong character all around.

Adam is the GOAT, that little dash step is juust enough

I just wish the other characters could dash as well, with the exception of Cherry.
His charge kick sends enemies sliding back. It’s definitely not a set up for a grab
Best character in the game in my opinion.
Most well rounded. Speed and power
The drop kicker girl and the thick biker chicks as well as the rolling, body slamming, and flaming blowers are a real pain in this mode.

GREATNESS!! Favourite character of all time. Disappointed he was captured in Number 1 and weren't in Number 2, but his younger brother Skate and Max did make up for it. Glad Adam's back.
The fact that he was captured is a little surprising to me. He seems borderline unstoppable!..
The fact that you can beat people to death with a swiffer makes this the best game ever.

Very impressive, Adam if my fave character. He's got great movement and power.
I just unlocked him and he feels so fun to play. I wish Blaze and Axel at least had a similar dash, they seem so sluggish in comparison.

Rebecca C agreed. Maybe Blaze and Axel could have had a more limited dash or something. I like that they are all different, but those characters need some sort of movement option. They just feel too sluggish.
Shiva is my favorite but Adam is up there lol

Ya know, for some strange reason I see Adam as one of those supportive but protective dads. Like after the end of the game, he is teasing Axel and Blaze for bringing Cherry into all this and at the same time saying how proud he is to Cherry for keeping the Hunter family tradition of kicking ass and taking names.
The developers deserve so much praise!
To give them as much support as I can I bought it on Nintendo Switch & for PS4

its fun, i played sor2 since it came out maany years ago, and still i play like this guy, or similar as the gameplay is bit different with axel in sor2
I'm a pretty damn good Streets of Rage player...but even I must recognize the superior technician. Superb!

@@PoisonousPen Yeah, Comissioner Gordon 9s tough because all of the other cops around. He gets his free command Grabs in while you're fighting the others off.
Adam, the epithome of what it means to be badass in this universe.
With Adam's moveset you can really pull off some cool combos!
I love what they've done with Adams moveset, it's so fun to use!
I love characters who can drop Donovan in one combo. The power is so wonderful.

@@agriosbr After finishing the game, I hate most of the enemies in this game aside from the basic ones from the first level. Every enemy seems to have their own annoyance about them. Like the black dude with the gun who runs away and tries to line up with you. The skinny girl who jump kicks you. The knife guy who charges at you then hides in the bottom left corner making it hard to hit him. The skinny girl who throws grenades and flasks. The fat guys who roll at you then laugh. Ugh I fuckin hate every enemy and I was only playing on normal lol
Matthew Berrios most of them are alright once you know their workarounds.
Hated the shield dudes, but if you single them out/hit and run, they’re not too bad.
Karate guys were a huge annoyance. Learned that they can’t deal with throws, then they became ok.

It's amazing how playing the game as Adam has such a different feel compared to playing as Axel.
Adam is my "main".
Thought he was one of the weaker characters at first, until I started to understand him. Now I have the most fun playing as him
I love it that a bunch of people are making videos on tricky ways of getting the "Out of this world" combo achievement, and you just low key got it twice in the first 4 minutes of the game.

Today I learned you can use the i-frames of a neutral jump to defend against their jump kicks, and then they're pretty much powerless.

This dude's combos and spacial awareness is if the chain. I find it so hard to keep my combo count going, I feel like someone always gets at least 1punch in.
Adam is looking unstoppable. You have some serious skills, my friend.
I'm currently up to stage 9 in story mode on mania and those Muay Thai fighters in the sauna are wrecking me! The fact that story mode resets your lives each level means I start with a maximum of two lives.
Yep, though you can earn extra lives at least. It's still a pain on Mania though.

Beat Em Up veteran and fighting game player
If you're a beat-em-up fan or an SOR fan from the previous games , it's easy to get up to speed with SOR4 really quickly as the controls are similar, and some of the returning enemies have the same old tricks. The rest is all about learning the new enemy attack patterns and knowing when to be PATIENT. Avoiding damage is just as important as dishing it out.
Also Adam is a solid pick for playing the higher difficulties, he's a good all-rounder like Axel. But more crucially, Adam has that forward-forward dash which helps him close distances quickly to avoid threats or to pick off a weakened foe. Blaze and Axel, the two other popular choices for harder difficulties, can't dash.

@@xXSolBadguyXx Also Adam's charge attack, front kick, can help close the distance really fast. Depending on your distance from the enemy you can get a hit from the front kick and at least one more from his forwardx2 +attack. I've managed to do it from time to time.

Hope this game gets DLC guest characters.
I hope this can get some additional characters and stages, also a stage workshop, where you could take stages and adding enemies and props as you like. Make the stages feel different.
no please no more DLC...the video game industry got ruined by this DLC system...but this Streets of Rage 4 gives you free char by finishing the story mode like the old good days when you had to complete some challenges to unlock new chars and goodies instead of today's stupid system when they sell you a demo of a game and you have to pay more money TO GET new chars or any other goodies related to that game...i hope this game every new char or goodies will be free to unlock and NOT a dlc.....and also i hope that they add Max(SOR 4 version) to the roster later on..

In the last fight with the robot, if you beat the brother who's in control first, the other one will jump to the robot too.

@@benyijohnson7925 yes if you take her health more than the brother. But it's easier to let the brother into the robot first and then take out the sister while she's on foot all the way.

Best sor4 playthrough.
While fighting shielded policemen with Adam, you can use forward dash techinique - Hit him regularly with a maximum of 3x then forward dash before he attacks then 3x regular attacks again. After 2 dashes with each 3 regular attacks each, then the shield will surely break

This guy is amazing; so good it seems like he only took damage when he felt like it. I was honestly hurt when he got hit for the first time by the Koobos on stage one...then I remembered I only made it to them on Mania.
😲 That combo in the video at 9:59 reminds me so much of Ken off of street fighters. Adam kicking style is so similar to his, also Adam is a more powerful character to play with on streets of rage 4.

But doing that can cause lag and frozen screen.

I have to ask since you can actually beat this game on mania. What do you think of the mechanic where enemies flash white and can't be flinched by any attack other than star power?

You play like a God
You know you can just jump to avoid most of the aoe blast moves? Like the final boss smashes or the stomps skullface dudes? You can also standing jump attack without moving to avoid the shield guys attacks. Just in case you want an easier time in future runs 😉
