I bought the unlimited dining plan for myself and my two nephews on this cruise. However yesterday we may not have thought things through and I think we made a big mistake.

My family cruised on the symphony of the seas last May , and we decided to splurge and get a star class suite, meaning we had unlimited dining and drinks. I can honestly say I have never enjoyed/suffered through meals as I did on that cruise. In 7 days I gained 12 lbs….no joke. I feel your pain😂

I just got off Harmony and saw Grease! I cried because I loved it SO much. I also cried like s baby at the water show! Awesome entertainment ❤️
Hi Don , Just some info on Grease . John Travolta wanted Danny to sing Greeased Lightning in the movie, but it originally was Kenicki who sings it on Broadway . So , it is actually the movie that switched it up . I’m a huge fan of Grease AND John Travolta . 😊
Danny's full name is Danny Zuko, so Danny & Zuko are the same person. Yes, it was Kenicki on the stage.
Oh Don I am so happy you are having a fabulous time with your nephews...I love that you are showing them everything that you love about cruising. Sounds like you are having a blast! By the way, Danny Zuko is the name of the character so either name is still him.

We were on Harmony in the Spring, Greese really was very good! One of my favorite cruise shows ever.
Hi Don. Took my family on 'Anthem of the Seas' in March. Had similar dining experience. Specialty dining at Jamie's, Izumi, & Chops. Took advantage of the MyTime dining options in American Icon, LeGrande, & Silk restaurants. By the time we hit Sorrentos for pizza, Promenade for pastries & cookies, the DogHousre, & Windjammer for everything it offers - OMG - you could have rolled us home. Service was outstanding. We saw 'We will rock you, Spectra's Cabaret, Frankie with the Dreamers, & the In Concert' shows. All were fantastic. Our Kennedy Space Center tour was cancelled due to a COVID alert there, but the CocoaCay waterpark, Blue Lagoon dolphin swim, snorkeling excursion, & Nassau sightseeing / gift shopping adventures gave us priceless lifetime memories.

What a nice time on a cruise ship! I would be booking the Ultimate Dining Package if I was sailing Royal Caribbean for sure!
The parades on RCL have been awful since they eliminated the DreamWorks characters. We loved the Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar parades and meet and greets with Shrek, Princess Fiona and Donkey, King Julian etc. It was a lot of fun. Glad I got a picture with King Julian before he was fired. 😁
Your story reminds me of the time I was on a Princess Caribbean cruise as a teen... it was the last day on the ship and I wanted to hang with friends. So we did the unlimited dining for hours, just eating whatever. And then the people who ran the kids zone invited us for dinner, after we had stuffed our faces for hours. I needed a vomitorium or something, I could barely eat it all. I think the only way I survived was because I was a teen, couldn't imagine doing that even in my 30s. But it's cruising, enjoy yourself!
Now that was a touch down catch!!! And crowd goes wild!!! 😉
We were on Harmony during Halloween so, they did one long parade at night to include any children that were dressed for the occasion. We enjoyed Grease, the aqua show timeline, the ice skating show 1887 and they did Their own production of a musical /play titled, Columbus.
I enjoyed my cruise on Harmony of the Seas. It was unusual as I had two days of classes and it was for networking. It was still fantastic.
We also did the UDP on Harmony in August. Never again for us. Way too much food! We really prefer the grazing method when eating on a cruise. I’m good with the buffet, park and promenade cafe etc. I can’t control myself in the specialty restaurants lol.
I was also going to write the same thing. It's some of the best food I've had, but I don't like to waste food so I overeat and feel sick afterwards.

Cruise eating should be an Olympic event, complete with coaches and strategy. Of course, Drink Package Bar Crawl and Stumble, could be considered also.
Grease is always great to see on a cruise. Saw a typical but fun production on an NCL cruise many years ago.

We had the same issue with being way too full after our Teppanyaki dinner experience too, I would have to say it is from eating too much fried rice that expands more once after eating it.

Peter, we just finished our Harmony cruise last weekend. We loved it, Grease was indeed awesome, and I usually don’t care for shows. I love rock and roll though!

This reminds me of when I would finish dinner in the main dining room at 10pm and then try to catch the midnight buffet knowing I'm stuffed. Those were the days. Great mouth catch.😊

My daughter and I did the unlimited dining package on Symphony of the seas. Not sure we'd do again. We didnt make all our reservations for some of the reasons you mentioned (just too full). The one restaurant we loved and which surprised me, was 150 Central Park! It was decadent! Soooo good! Enjoy your time with your nephews! How fun! We want video of the jet skiing!!!!! (and nice catch btw!)
we had a great time jet skiing but they would not let me film unless we were stopped :(

We are going to get the SDP for the first time on Harmony in May. I’ll make a note to reserve early for lunch and late reservation for dinner on sea days. Thank you for the tip!

I remember when we would have the four course dinner at 6:15, go to the show and then go and see what the midnight buffet had to offer. Can't do that anymore.
I made that same mistake on ncl with Cagneys and teppanyaki didn’t regret it one bit 😂
We're doing the UDP on Wonder next March. Neither my wife or I are big eaters but we loved the restaurants on Wonder last time. So my son wanted to eat in all of them. Going to have to watch our portions.

On our Adventure cruise we just got off of yesterday 11-14-22, most of the movies we wanted to see were at 7pm while we were eating dinner. Some were poolside during the day, but the pool area was so crowded and loud, that we didn't think we could enjoy watching them. One that was at 10:30pm was the Top Gun Maverick movie, but we didn't think we could stay up that late to watch it. We also couldn't ever make it to the ice skating show. I do like that Adventure did have movies for entertainment besides the comedian and Invitation to Dance shows that were scheduled at night after dinner. We did watch the newest Downton Abbey movie, but since I'd never seen the TV series, I wasn't invested in the characters and I found it to be boring. I really regret we didn't have a chance to see the Cirque du Soleil movie. I wish they'd had more movies at various times during the day in the Lyric Theater.
That's why my wife and I generally eat light for lunch or even skip depending on what's going on, because I made that mistake booking a real lunch and dinner too close to each other and it lessened the dinner experience because we weren't even hungry.
We did this on Wonder in December. By the end we hated food. I think the 3 night is for us from now on and maybe a lunch or 2. Just imagine if Harmony had playmakers. You would be more stuffed.

I was on this same sailing, and I had the surprise pleasure of seeing then meeting you Don, while waiting for Grease to begin. My girlfriend and I decided on the 3 night dining package and it was STILL a lot of food. We also like to enjoy The Windjammer and food at the Solarium, so an unlimited dining package was just not an option.

Unlimited dining package is sooooo much food!! I never use it all (specialty dinner EVERY single night) and lunch on sea days. Still, I will continue to book it, when cruising with friends and family. Too good not to and it's still worth it for me.

Isn’t Zucco Danny’s last name in Grease? Anyways I learned a new word recently that may come in handy describing how you felt after all of the yummy food. CRAPULENT- sickness caused by excessive eating or drinking.

My big mistake on the Prima last week was eating the beef wellington they gave me without saying anything when I ordered prime rib. Life is hard.
We did 4 nights specialty dining. Was great. We do one meal a day normally on our keto diet and enjoy fine dining much more that way.

We did udp on Symphony and loved it. But it is a LOT OF FOOD.
We saw a parade on symphony. Decorations f for holidays all year long. It was cool
Haven't been on Royal yet, sounds like fun with some terrific food! Only Carnival so far, looking for a good RC cruise to try. Enjoy and ease up on the food :)
In the play Kinnecki sings Grease lightening in the movie Danny Zucko does. Jeff Conway was really made about that. He thought he was going to be singing it.

People who cruise gave up all dignity at the port. Squash them in like sardines and convince them they are having fun. Seems to be the goal. Oh Conrad Hilton come and save me.
Because everyone that didn't cruise for 18 to 24 months are back to cruising. If you check cruises from the first quarter of 2024 you will find that many have balconies already sold out. And that the new Icon of the Seas sold out in less than a couple days.

Was there a dining option after the theatre? I would have cancelled my meal at Chopped Grille (to make space for other guests) if I could find other another option later. My guess is that most restaurants/dining room would have been closed already!

We just got off Harmony, hmmm it’s definitely not my favorite but the crew was wonderful! We got on the ship at 11am went directly to book hibachi. Could not get any reservations., completely booked, It was such a bummer as we were there celebrating two grandchildren turning 16. The ship was packed and not the cleanest. Out of 19, 14 of us ended up sick 😷. Symphony and Odyssey still remain my favorite! 💗

I would have swum around actively in the pool for a while, for some reason that always makes my food “go down” and become hungry again.
We cruised this year on the Harmony b2b in Sept. Very disappointed in the food in the MDR, Windjammer. 1st night a lot of complaints. Found the venues for the crowd on this ship were too small.
Feeling full? A walk on the promenade deck or 20 minutes on the treadmill will definitely help.

We ate one specialty restaurant on the Celebrity Millennium. It was amazing.
I made sure to get in at least 30 flights of stairs, and 3 miles walked, everyday onboard Harmony. That kept the weight gain in check. 😂
Thanks for the tip. I fully expect to be in a similar condition on my cruise. There are just too many opportunities to stuff your face.
If you remember in Seinfeld, he goes to a steak place and orders a salad. You could have ordered salads at Chops.

After watching the video you were apparently right above us for the parade ( we were across fr café promenade) and in front of us at grease. Apparently we're destined to just miss you lol. From a pic in the fb group you were at the abyss slide right around when we went up if the time the person posted was correct lol

There were songs from the original play that were not included in the movie. I don’t know if “Hopelessly Devoted to You” was included in the play that you watched, but if is not a song included in the original play. It was written for Olivia Newton John because in her contract she was allowed to do one solo.
It was in this play but at a slightly different point in the story.
