@@Augfordpdoggie As a Neil Peart fan myself, I say BS. Their playing styles were very different but both are percussion geniuses. In terms of technical prowess alone, Peart had nothing on Palmer---he even said that Palmer was a big influence on his choice of equipment and his approach to percussion. As great as they both were in their heyday, Billy Cobham in his prime was probably even better. At that skill level, does it even matter who is "better" anyway?
They so were. Wish I had seen them I. Their prime. I had one opportunity to see them with Cozy Powell at MSG 1987 and that was fantastic. I’ve seen Carl quite a few times in the last few years and never get tired of seeing him
Hey Everyone, Thanks so much for checking out this video and hope you join my channel for more music and fellowship of Live Music Junkies! I play guitar so know very little about the mechanics of drumming but I have loved ELP for many years. A few years back I was really fortunate to see him solo at this little hall no bigger then my High School Auditorium. I was just blown away at the energy and what great shape he's kept himself in. Since then I've seen him a few times and had mixed feelings about this recent tour but I though he pulled it off tastefully and was happy it was with the inclusion of Keith and Greg's family. I hope I have the energy and acumen at that age to still jam. Cheer Everyone!
😂 Each time on Carl videos appear some "Drew" telling BS ..., Palmer with the double bass at Same time ?!! Ridículo !!!! I Saw live Carl Palmer with ELP 6 times in Argentina and 5 with ELP legacy, and 2 with Asia.... Carl is amazing !!! Hay mucho sordo y envidioso en UA-cam, sin ningún conocimiento musical ni experiencia alguna. Thanx for the video! Cheers from Buenos Aires
Thank you Inappreciate the kind words of the legendary Carl! I respect everyone to have an opinion but when there’s something like this that thousands clearly love I don’t understand why people go out of way to make negative comments, cheers

Dude, I don’t understand why he’s playing both bass drums at the same time, when he trying to play doubles. Bass drum technique just isn’t there. He strikes me as someone who thinks they’re better than they really are. Just saying 🤷🏽♂️
I guess you’ve never really followed him but I’ve heard him play beyond ridiculous double bass drum patterns where he’s going from playing fast 16th notes to 32nd notes to flams and triplets! Like way beyond what Billy or AVH were doing in the 70’s and 80’s. Buddy Rich has the most underrated bass drum technique of all time because people are just focused on his hands but real players know that Buddy Rich had a world class Bastrom foot. He had a right foot that would make Bonham look like child’s play and i’ve heard footage of Buddy Rich playing and double bass drum once and it was just breathtaking way way way out of its time. Carl can play world-class double. Bass when he wants to and his chops are viscous.

I may be the only drummer that thinks most "drum solo's" are just a bunch of boring and useless .BS. it's much harder to play actual music with a band.
For my taste, few drummers can really carry off a solo that keeps me interested. And even then, it's more often that I like only a portion of the solo rather than the whole thing. But many people feel differently, so I understand why they're frequently a part of a live show.
I guess haters will hate. The man is in his 70’s. Nobody could touch him when he was in his 20’s. Both a pioneer and innovator.
That stainless steel drumset he played back then was the coolest kit ever.
oh please, Neil Peart smoked him
Absolutely right. Same people who bash Ringo, but can't play a clean paradiddle. I saw him in Atlanta on this tour and was privileged to do so.
This might not be his best performance but it tired me out watching and I’m 54. I’m glad he’s still enjoying it.

The man is a machine. Awesome.
He sure is, Wish I got to see them back in the day. I saw them in approx 1987 but the tour was with Cozy Powell
Wow, I saw him in the 70's with ELP...I'm so happy he's still around and still kickin Ass.
Man, Wish I saw them back then. I saw them once and it was with Cozy Powell. Still amazing but you always want to get a taste of the original
I seen them twice in the 90s sad they aren't in the hall of fame
A legend for sure. One third of an amazing group of musicians.

@@djbobstar I loved their music “from the beginning”Unfortunately never got to them live.
Carl Palmer is definitely a legend
Sure is, Thanks for watching! Have a great Holiday weekend!
Awesome Carl at his best🎼🎹🎸🥁 rock on
I hope to be active in my older years but this man is a machine

Love ELP. But vertical video is utter dog shit.
Thanks for the feedback, not pro and wanted to zero in just on him but makes sense for future...
