OMG!! I've been searching all over the internet for my start menu fix. My apps where grayed out and I couldn't use my snipper/calculator/calendar. I tried the updater. I tried to reboot and rest in safe mode. I tried several other suggestions and nothing except for this resolved the temp profile error which fixed access to everything else. I was wondering why my screen looked different. I truly appreciate you!!!! 🙏🏽 ❤️ 💛 Thankful for you!!!! So many others are having the same issue on the Microsoft questions. I hope they find you like I did.

Had to sign in and like the video and comment. The first fix worked for me - modifying the reg key from 1 to 0 then running updates and rebooting. When I logged back into the profile it was still messed up but a pop up said "sign out of profile to resolve issues" so I clicked okay and it signed out. I signed in once more and all was back to normal!!

Thank you for this excellent tip! Restoring the .bak profile did the trick! It is alarming after a Windows update to lose your profile. I feel this is irresponsible of Microsoft to release an update with critical errors such as this that requires on to edit their Windows registry to resolve. No typical home user should have to do that! I feel sorry for the 100's and thousands of Windows users not fortunate enough to know how to scour the Internet for Windows fixes.
At your comment about updates 9:45 I check for updates & a message say "this machine doesn't meet the minimum...etc etc to run w. 11 ? How is this possible? Microsoft installs w.11 on my machine!

I have a problem, when I turn on my computer, Windows gives me the error user profile service failed the sign-in, I have an "ok" button, I click on it, Windows throws me at the sign in lock screen, but after entering the correct password, it gives me the same error, after restarting and the same errors windows sign in as "TEMP" user, and when I entered windows as that TEMP user, I restart the computer for the second time and then everything is normal, I sign in my account, but these TEMP things are still there. What should I do, because after I turn off and on the computer, this behavior repeats itself? Windows 11.
If you have a proper corrupt profile, as I did for someone who had completely filled the system disk, you can just create a new profile and copy everything across from the old one. I only copied the folders I needed, whether copying everything (all the AppData etc) would have effectively imported a corrupted profile to the new one I don't know didn't have the time to try it.
At least you could actually get to your temp profile! Mine tried to load one and just froze at "Prepearing Windows" for upto half an hour! (I had never had loading issues on windows 10). Eventually a profile appeared but it had no start menu and no taskbar and stopped responding after just a minute. It was totally unusable! Luckily i was able to get back to windows 10.
I was in such a hurry that I accidentally deleted the BAK file instead of the one without. I saw it in a different video and it didn't have a warning like yours. Still my fault. Now my profile is deleted and I'm devastated. Is there any way to get it back? I'd greatly appreciate the help.

My user folder with MY NAME on it said that it was recently updated (Today). The folder was empty.
I accidentally moved all of my files to the temporary user. When I signed in again may original user came back but the files on the temporary had lost. Can I somehow restore the files?

Nice work..just turned my laptop on after the xmas break and recognised a temp profile. this fix was the solution.
