Finally, someone who walks through the steps slowly and without extraneous side conversations. It was obvious you thought this through and trialed it before making the video. Thank you for that. I couldn't get mine to work before because I didn't realize you needed to set some of the same settings on both machines. It was very frustrating. You outlined my mistake. Thank you again.
literally this, I LOVE this guide
10:39 - Thank you so much, you are the first person to explain that I needed to add "Everyone" as a user! This fixed the issue that I have been working on for hours!
I can’t thank you enough! I’ve been trying to share a drive between windows 10 & 11, I’ve followed so many tutorials and nothing worked until I followed yours. It worked immediately! I’ll definitely be back here for anything else in future.
I had the same issue until i came across this tutorial. I couldn't have done it, without this.
Thank you so much for the detailed & easy to follow instructions. I am finally able to share files between my desktop windows 10 and my laptop windows 11. You're a lifesaver!
To anyone whose trying to share a file but do it with the password enabled, the login credentials are your pc name (to find out what your pc is called, open command prompt and type "whoami" minus the quotation marks (if it comes up with something like 'examplename/test' when you use the command, the last word will be the name you use, so in this case the name is 'test') and then the password is just the password you use to log in to your pc.
I looked for easy to follow instructions for hours and couldn't find anything, but this video worked wayy too well, thank you so much!
In my case, one PC is connected to the network via Ethernet cable, the other one via Wi-Fi. And it worked like a charm, thank you! ❤❤❤
THANK YOU! I really appreciate you breaking everything down and doing a simple to follow step by step tutorial. I was easily able to share drives from my Plex server to my hard wired laptop to transfer files quickly, rather than having to transfer files into a USB drive and walk up to the server and manually transfer them. Thank you again, great work!
Thank you soooo much.... I was getting nowhere with the other UA-camrs. They missed the "Turn Windows Features On/Off" step within the Apps and Features setup.
I STILL got the password prompt, despite unchecking it settings (BOTH LAptops), but this time I simply typed in the PIN instead of the password and got through.
Thanks again, I'm saving this video as Im sure will forget the steps in no time
I bought a desktop and wanted to transfer all my music from my laptop to it. This worked. Thank you very much good sir!
I have watched about 5 videos read about 800 things, and nothing
worked, did yours and boom works perfect and even when the folders open if i add something on the main pc it then pops up on the laptop, I do a lot of 3d printing and use the laptop to run the printer, and the pc to model etc so youve saved me a lot of messing about with usb sticks lol . Thank you again !!!
I agree with the many other comments!! I've been trying for months to setup a windows network. Google, CoPilot AI, UA-cam videos never resulted in success just frustration. This video was easy to follow and resulted in SUCCESS!! Adding Everyone to Sharing and Security with the correct permissions was the key for me. No other resources covered this. Thank you! Will gladly subscribe and make a PayPal donation! Worth paying money for.
Thank goodness for your video. There are so many poorly written/spoken pages/videos on this, many with incomplete information, but your explanation was clear, efficient, and finally got my home sharing going.
dude you saved me... I had an error to contact administrator .. What I didn't do before is go into the security tab. Thanky you so much
Thank you for an wonderfuly clear and precise tutorial. I had looked at other support information but your information was the only one that worked. You took it step by step, explaining the process. I'm very grateful for you sharing your expertise.
Great video on the subject. I watched several prior and this one was much more clear. Thanks!
Thank you very much. Your video explains everything. Adding everyone to security solved my problem for hours!
This is by far the best video on this subject, Thank you for this!
Worked for me. Remember to add Everyone to both Sharing and Security tabs.
Hey. Absolutely working. Wonderful expression.
Thank you so much brother it's make my life a lot easier than I thought.
Excellent video. I've been trying for the last 2 days to set up to no avail. I've now set up my network and it works the way I want it to work. Thanks so much.
Could not have done this without you, many thanks.
Low quality microphone and a tired voice, 2 out of 3 signs of a good tech tutorial.
Bro is making a 10/10 tutorial at 3:53 in the morning 😂😂 don’t know whether he stay up late or got up early
Really?? So you do it next time.
I think th 3rd would be an indian voice.
Thanks dude I appreciate this a lot! I've watch many tutorial vids some of them made sense but not complete guide
Yes! Success! I had such an issue with a Win10 tower and a Win11 laptop. Many thanks!\
Got mine and my husbands linked through lan. Thanks for the step by step in easy to understand terms.
Thanks for showing both the server and client sides of this process. Very helpful.
your video helped me greatly after i have tried all sort of different things, thank you kind sir
bro thank you so much this actually worked when none others didn't
Thank you, thank you, thank you. This worked after many videos. Step by step easy to follow. I appreciate your time in this tutorial.
Thanks, had got out of habit of networking as mostly used flash drives to move files but wanted to copy over GTA V mod install to my laptop!
Really good video and I did it step by step but in the end i still needed the password even though i had it properly checked but no biggie, it works!
The Perfect Guide. Worked for me. Thank You
THNX. This was a clear nice step by step tutorial!
Amazing video mate - great stuff. Thanks for keeping it clean and simple!
They sure made sharing easy in windows 11. Ive used windows since 3.11, but i could not even figure this one out. Then, why do they have settings? Why have a system over controlpanel? It makes no sense. Im spending twice as much time, trying to find things in windows now days. Is it in settings? or is it in controlpanel?
A huge THANK YOU for sharing this information. You are one of the best. ☺☺☺☺☺
Thanks! I find your Methods worked for My system. Thanks!
Thank you for this amazing video. It's crazy how hard something as basic and important as this is to pull off....sigh.
Hey Zeus, we are sposed to figure this out on our own?? I hope that you did one on printers also. Thank you lots!
Steller performance Kind Sir. Thank you for such a perfect how-to!
Great video, thanks, might be worth mentioning though, that you should only activate SMB 1 if you really need it, as there are considerable security risks associated with it; The reason for its deactivation in windows 10 and 11, so, if you don't WannaCry, don't activate!
This is an excellent video. However, it did NOT solve my problem. Finally, I rebooted the ROUTER and it solve the problem. Simple, trivial, easy solution to days of problems. Try this early on.
Thanks! I've been struggling with this for days now and I don't understand why, but the issue was not having everyone in the list. You would think having my login user in the sharing & security list was enough - at least logically it is since I'm the only one that logs into either PC - but windows logic is stupid.
bro u saved me ty soo mush the only one who didnt clickbait me
You are a LIFESAVER!!!
i have 1 computer on ethernet - 1 wifi did everything for both connections - only see the user folder- wanted to share a whole drive anyway... any thoughts. I was able to see my mapped drive on main computer but the drive appeared empty...
Thanks so much! I hadn't changed security settings!
Thanks man, this is great done tutorial and it was very helpful for me.
15:30 YOUR MUCH BETTER THAN windows support amazing review but the sad part is that windows keeps chaning stuff specially on windows 11 BUT YOU SHARE EVERYTHING WE NEED TO TRY TO FIX THIS NETWORK CONNECTION ISSUE ON WINDOWS 11 but it was so easy before no need to add //computer name!
I finally got this working, thank you, but had to make a concession to do so.
I would prefer to run both of my PCs without login passwords so they can be accessed by anyone in my home (including me) without typing a password each time the computer is started up.
When I tried initially I was unable to make the computers connect. Only after adding a local password to each PC was I able to transfer files over the network. Is it possible to set up network sharing without forcing a local password on the PCs?
Excellent step by step tutorial. Many thanks.
Does it work if you have your sharing computer on Ethernet and your lap-top connected to Wi-Fi ? or both have to be either on Ethernet or Wi-Fi ?
Me TOO?
1. I heard your cat - just to say hi!
2. Never did I know we need so many settings to just share a folder - thanks for pointing out!
3. I think Microsoft should work on this, either simplify it, or get us a wizard, or at least make troubleshooting helpful. This is wayyy too complicated, even you got an error just now, and it's just for LAN sharing. And there's still OneDrive & VPN sharing as you mentioned, how on earth we as normal users are going to run it properly - it's just not user friendly enough.
Perfect walkthrough
It did work. I just have a problem....I created a folder in desktop and my whole desktop was shared. What did I do wrong? How do I undo the shared information?
Thank you so much i just tried it and it worked❤
It was really helpful. Thanks a lot for the video.
It's simply a nightmare to share folder across home network. Just can't understand why MS has to make it so so complicated.
As I said in my post, I think they make home networking difficult so people will pay for OneDrive instead of having their own free server at home. Just a thought…
SMBv1 should not be needed to share a folder without a password. It's disabled on my systems and working great!
The video is so useful, Thank you very much.
Awesome tutorial ! Thank you so much !
With support of this vedio I solved a problem, thank you so much.
Thank you for consistently providing us with informative videos. I appreciate your effort and dedication to creating interesting and educational content.
Can you map an entire drive, like say D drive and not a folder within the drive?
What is the difference between map network drive and add network location?
Why do you enable SMB 1.0 ? It's old and it has a lot of known exploits.
ahhh public / private was the problemo cheers bro
Great video! Thank you.
Does is matter how we login on the server and client? Do we need to log in with a Microsoft account or can we use a local login?
Thanks for making this video. Great job, really appreciate it.
Thank you so very much! Great video and information.👍
thank you so much! vey well explained! lol System B was here XD
I am still getting network credential request. I have turned that feature off in all four of my PCs.
Advanced Network /sharing Settings>All Networks>Password Protected Sharing = OFF. And still get the credential request
@@elsid9927 im having the same problem, have you found a solution?
Thanks for the video...can mobile phones connected to the same network able to access these shared folders/files on a PC
thank you so much it is useful to my part
thanks so much this helped a million
FYI The display language of my Windows 11 is set in English but it could not find Everyone (to add to the security tab for the folder sharing). Then I typed " Iedereen" (the Dutch word for everyone) and it did find it... (yes I am Dutch :) ).
finally working. thanks!!!!
Thank You So much
Will this work from Wi-Fi to Ethernet under the same network?
Thanks a lot, I've tried several times, but I can see the shared folder yet it's not letting me in. It shows a new window for Windows security and asks me to enter network credentials, which I don't know. I've already unchecked the option for a password. Please help.
I'm only able to add a single drive to share on the network. Doing the same with the rest of my drives shows up on the other PC but says it doesn't have permission to access them. The settings are the same on the other drives.
I did everything accordingly but while accessing the other device it’s asking for username and password of a user of that pc. is there any way to access it without that?
When I try to access the main computer on my second computer by typing //A desktop_name it asks me for internet credentials (user_name and password). I don't know what to type in these fields, can you help me?
Thanks a lot 😊
Thanks very helpful
It appears that this method shares the folder with everyone and all computers on my network. What if i only want to share the folder with one of the computer on my network?
Much appreciated my man.
sorry but is this windows feature a bit buggy?
it is sometimes doesn't show on networks even if everything is set correctly
I wonder it can work in different windows platform like win 10 or windows 7
Please, I am trying to make my laptop create a network without wires and without a router, and I was previously able to do this with a laptop.
THANK YOU
Thanku so much
thank you!
thankyou
This did not work for me. When I try to connect, I get a user/password dialog. When I try to use my Microsoft Account, I get wrong password. I had to create a local account, then it works.
same process to share entire drives I assume?
Hello,
Thank you for the video, I am trying to share a drive over another computer and the drive is located but unfortunately, when I try to open the drive it shows:" Network Error.... windows cannot access you do not have permission to access the (my ip number). Contact your network administrator to request access."
What can I do?
Thank you once again!
After watching your video one more time I figured it out . Thank YOU!
And how do I access them remotely i.e from Android?
thank you
Worked 🎉
