I picked up one of the 7735 versions of this for my son as his first real PC in part, because of your excellent review. I work in IT and wanted to build something but I figured this would be a new thing to play with. It's a pretty solid system. The fan, while audible under load is fairly quiet. Speaking of, that was one of the bigger selling points for me. The idea that a bad bearing or a bearing starting to go that I couldn't fix made me twitchy. I know we accept this with thin clients and laptops all of the time so it shouldn't be a big deal. I use to work on those 1U pizza box servers and there are few things that I find less appealing than a screaming fan or a dying fan. I just wish the case was medal but my son won't be traveling with it so I guess it's not a huge issue.
The one problem that I had initially was that the HDMI wasn't picked up by my monitor so we used the display port. Pretty sure the it was just out of range and it could be figured out. It's going to a 35 inch qhd monitor that I had laying around the resolution could have just been wonky.

The holy theme build was a pretty epic reference :)
It's probably going to be a trend, particularly with things like the new Asus NUC and as the companies realise people aren't wedded to the square and short form factor. I'm sure we'll see a bunch more fractionally larger ones this year with way more cooling and expansion options. It's all good - variety is the spice of actually getting what you want, which is why PC is so much better than console and Apple. :)

I've always found it weird to have dual nic ports on these small units. I'd rather have dual DisplayPorts. And more USB ports. Nice of them to use USB-C to power the unit. Good video! 👍
For a home server, I find the two NIC setup quite useful: one for the public LAN and one for a completely separate private LAN.

Performance is as one would expect very close to the Minisforum HM80 with a 4800U processor, as the silocon is nearly identical. CB23 results on par and time spy / fire strike are in a +/-10% range. The HM80 is my main rig and although the iGPU is relatively weak it is still perfectly usable for low-level gaming like roblox (so kids happy) and it is already overpowered for the usual stuff we tend to do on a pc (emails / office / browsing ). Combination 4800U + dual LG 4K monitor set-up consumed 65-75W for remote office work with youtube running music in the background. (My old set-up with i7-2600K and GTX 1060 consumed in between 160-250W for the same set-up... so very decent power savings )
For absolute inaudible computer experience at even half the power consumption (max 40W) I can recommend Apples Mac mini M1. iGPU and ST performance better than 5700U / 4800U . However, the question is whether ones workflow is Apple compatible. Mine wasn't unfortunately, hence the HM80

thanks for the review. I am not sure why so many reviewers dislike plastic cases so much on these units. The mini pc barely if ever moves, and is hardly subject to much physical stress, but to each his own.

i got a Pn51 with the 5700u .. i throw it in a Akasa Turing tower coz it was screaming and thermal throttling , so im happy to see someone can cool that cpu when asus cant :)
I have the pn51 with the 5500u, it screams occasionally, but is generally not noticeable attached the rear of the tv. It is only used for browsing and as a media player though. I considered the Akasa passive case, but found it too hard and too pricey to get to Australia, Akasa themselves were not great to deal with. Minis should be passive, or at least semi passive these days.
I’d never heard of AOOSTAR. I just found them yesterday looking for alternatives to Minisforum UM790, 780 XTX or Beelink SER7 and came across the AOOSTAR GEM10 in my searches. The unique thing on that one is the support for 3 x Gen4 NVME cards still in a very small form factor. I immediately started searching for reviews but the only English language review of any AOOSTAR miniPC that I could find was this one. I’m wondering whether to take the risk on a Ryzen 7940HS GEM10 because if it is stable (the thing that’s making me think twice about the Minisforum UM790) it would be my dream miniPC right now apart from the USB-4 port being on the front not the back. Failing that I think I might go with the Minisforum 780 XTX since that seems to have fewer reports of instability than the UM790. That proprietary magnetic power connector puts me off the higher end Beelink units a bit.

A mini that takes a (user changeable) standard 140mm case fan would be most welcome.
Big fans and /or airjets should be the norm. Modding it to be silent can also be satisfying. At this point I might just build my own...

There are multiple different computers like this on AliExpress, with different branding.
It's $350 - $70 coupon = $280 right now.
At this price (coupon included) it has the same price as a beelink ser5 with the same specs.
Wish there is still a cheap enough miniPC that supports at oeast one 3.5" sata HDD (with PWDIS) for NAS.

I have been hoping for more from this mini, and I like that nice big fan. But even for $320, creaky plastic doesn't work, even at this price point: there are well made units (in plastic) from Beelink that feel much better built and don't squeak and have stronger CPU's. Without the RGB lighting, I like the design (before you laugh check out the white model...) but the lack of any heat sensor on the nvme drive (I have never had a drive that didn't report at least one temp) and its performance suggest that everything is very low end. Hell, even the rubber feet seem cheaper than usual. I understand that this maker also makes Kamrui, so....

AOOStar? Never heard of them. Do they have hardware video encoding like NVENC? For streaming.
No, that's only NVIDIA graphics cards.
Okay it looks like I need an intel.
Finally another dead silent CPU like the one on the Morefine M600 base model (the 6 core one), which I bought thanks to you, and which fan I have never heard except for a second in post when I turn it on, like with this one. But the SSD here is a disappointment and no TB. So still gland I went with that.

I'd take a slightly bigger miniPC all day long for 92-120mm fans.
Building larger gaming computers my problem with these tiny box computers are the noice they make and some when not being under any load. Yes, i know some say they dont make that much fan noise or heat but when you then sit their beside it, all to often it make that nasty noice and heat. 😳🤔
I think the only thing I really like about this mini pc is the outside design. I don't tend to like lighting, but this looks good to me. A bit weird because I am pretty sure the word cyberpunk is copyrighted by CD Project Red for some time now, but yeah...
If it had an actual TB4 port it could have been worth it. Or of course if it also had a better iGPU.

Seems odd if they were able to copyright the word Cyberpunk since it preceded them. Billy Idol even has a 1993 album by that name.

I could be wrong, but I remember reading about it a couple of years ago when an indy game had some initial trouble releasing because of the word Cyberpunk in the title and then CDPR giving the OK after people got upset with it. Perhaps they bought the rights few years ago, or perhaps I remember this wrong.
I would have thought only Cyberpunk 2077 could be copyrighted, but not the word itself.
@@RobtechIt appears that's not the case. I am guessing you have disabled URLs in comments so I won't even try to put links here. But if you do a google search you will see the name cyberpunk was owned by a tabletop company which then proceeded to sell it to CDPR some years ago. I am not a lawyer so that's as much info as I know.

So, this could run off a power bank via Usb-C? Great! I'm looking for the best possble portable option to play games on a pair of Xreal AR glasses. Not computer savy enough to know what would be a better option than the ROG Ally. I like the price of this. Would it perform better with AAA games thab an Ally. (I mostly want to play Balder's Gate 3). Anyone know if this or another mini PC would be the way to go?
Even better if I can find something with 2 Usb-C poets. One to charge and one to connect.
There are two BUS-C on GOD57, one is dedicated for power supply; the other is a full-featured USB-C, which can support power supply, output and display.

Yep, to really benefit you'd need another drive just as fast to copy to and 2.5" SATA won't cut it.

Shoutout to Kat, she's freakin awesome and the reason I have a Beelink SER5 MAX. Later this year I'd LOVE to upgrade to the 6 MAX and get to a 1440p monitor. I feel like I'd get an extra push in graphics to help cover better quality at 720/1080p, and be able to run Dolphin at 4x. I can mostly on the 5 MAX, but it starts to tank a bit haha.

The fastest mini around this size has graphics capability only around the minimum specs. For recommended, you'll need something with a dedicated graphics chip. I haven't reviewed one recently, but you'd be looking at something like the TANK mini pc sold by a couple of brands (ACEMAGIC, Chatreey) which has the RTX 3070 or 3080.

So silly they have a good fan and then utterly choke it with a decorative grill. Seems like you could 3D print something less obstructive

LOL 🤦♂...if a 5700U get's you excited, perhaps you should join us in 2024 with chips like the 7940HS. I want good cooling like the next guy, but the 5700U doesn't really even benefit from it. Now a 7940HS with a 7600M XT dGPU (or better) in a small package & big cooler would be "God like" for 2024. I've got a 7840HS with unlocked power limits running stable 82W (peaking over 90W) with a blower style cooler, now imagine something like that with better cooling and a dGPU...

Yep. The cooling is the point. You can put any CPU under there. I don't remember getting excited about the 5700U. Must be your imagination.
This mini is run of the mill. Nothing special at all.
