Almost twenty years now and that picture of the old covered bridge hit home hard. My late wife, who was a gift from God, loved those things. Even now things like this remind me of her. No man ever lost so much so quickly. Thanks, Mustie, for showing this.
Search Blount County Alabama covered bridges. They are very famous.
"You want an ice pop? Help yourself." I love it when he talks to "us".
But the cherry ones were all gone! Lol
I should of got here sooner.... :D
Any raspberry?
I like the confidence of buying the seat before being done with the engine, nice tractor.
Sunday morning with an hour long Mustie1 video to watch. Life doesn’t get much better than this.
...YOU BETCHER LIFESAVERS-!!
yes indeed - it's taken me 3 days to get through that 1:10. Thumbs up though. Chuck in NE Kansas
You have inspired my 14 year old. He fixes equipment and sells it after!!!
After what?
Bobby Jones god some ppl should not be allowed on the internet. After he fixes it you dolt. Think about it.
Lily is such a sweetie, and so patient.....you can see how much she loves you......project, coming along nicely...
I just love that dog. 👍👍👍
i noticed it is more fun watching someone else do the work
Pro hydraulic hose tips: Release the pressures by operating the functions with the engine off, next the hoses that are male, press them against a hard clean surface to release the pressure inside the hoses, this will make it a lot easier to connect.
Nothing like drinking coffee and waking up to a nice mustie video!
Long Island Mowers & More AMEN!!! Thanxz
Waking up to a nice Mustie video while taking a toke of my medical marijuana!!
Brian Hume me? Hardly I’ve slow down on small engines due to me working on the railroad
I catch myself talking to my phone while I watch you work 🙄👍👍👍much enjoyment!
Lily is so sweet! Labs are great. She looks very comfortable in the shop.
Always better when the dog shows up to help! Thank you for letting us come along on your fix!
Agree more Lily needed. 👌
I *LOVE* it when these videos come out. Drinking my morning coffee... watching some good wrenchin'. Thanks, Mustie1.
I am really enjoying this series.
It was a joy watching you work on this tractor. Thanks for that!
Hey Mustie1, Just wanted to say thanks for inspiring me :) Yesterday I brought home an old no-name dirt bike that I bought for $40, today I got the carb all cleaned (Which is CRAZY for me, before I found your channel I was terrified of small parts like that) threw it back on, and it's running like a champ! Now I gotta do some exterior cosmetic work and it's good as new. Thanks for uploading these amazing, inspirational videos. I hope you never stop :)
this man never gives up on anything , you're an inspiration to us beginners ,
thanks for uploading , cheers from Canada A
We like your videos,AND we love the old covered Bridge. But Lily is our favorite. CHEERS sir.
I often leave without giving a thumbs up. This time I gave one. A sympathy thumb. Another good time with Mustie.
Why in the world would often do that? As little of thing as it is, it does help to get the video recommended.
@@Steve_Just_Steve You are quite right. I exagerrated the situation a bit so that I was conveying more sympathy. I even gave YOU a like.
@@kirkjohnson9353 ; )
That time when even a tornado won’t stop mustie 1 from fixin’ and postin’ !!!
🌪🤷♂️🛠🚜👍
That’s one dedicated UA-cam star!
Do the Andrew Camarata trick on the gas tank and shovel a rag in there and then blow it around with an air gun for a bit. Soaks up everything in there
Thoroughly enjoy your videos.
Please sandblast and repaint the plow and snowblower. Btw its a checkball filter(also used in snowmobiles) not a screen and it is installed with clear plastic line (snowmobile line) doesnt take long at all to install or change with the right line. Speaking from experience, a snowblower is much better than a plow for snow. Throwing the snow away prevents blow in. Piles left by plows blow in almost right away. Id also clean off the rust on the end of pistons before you tear up the seals on hydralic cylinders. Btw parts diagrams help tons for figuring out how to mount things.
Word of advise. Its a snow plow not a gravel or mud or dirt plow. You can blow the rear transmission if you try.
Memory... that red trike, in the background, was in the first video I ever seen from you. You were moving things around in the Winter. And you were goofing around with it in the snow. I was like, ok, I need to see what this guy is all about! Been a fan ever since!!
My body is self-trained to wake up when Mustie posts on Sunday morning.
I need that
GOOD FOR YOU-!!
I love your dog! Keep showing him.
The 318 is looking good mustie...What a job you did!!! @ 59:18 the BOSS shows up and @ 59:22 she inspects your work and then she comes over to say GOOD JOB!!!! Gotta love our faithful companions. Lilly is the champ!
All videos should start and end with lily. Love ur dog!
Definately thats one great dog 😁
Another great video from the best small engine mechanic on yt 👏
What do you mean? Mustie1 is best small engine mechanic, period!
Marlin Ezell ya I guess that’s true also 😃
Enjoying this series. Thank You.
Jim
Thanks for the nice video and for 10 years now, thanks for the time you spend to share your days with us. In the NH there are beautiful places, you have to be very proud of your state. Ciao from Lido of Venezia. ☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️
Hey Mustie, looks like the plough angle pivot inboard hose is fitted back to front.
90° end is on the tractor side of hose.
.... and the top cylinder is on backwards (fittings go on the plow side)? That way the fitting won't hit the frame.
Yep, I came here to make the same comment.
@@TheGhungFu I was yelling "GOOGLE A DAMN PHOTO OF IT"...
At around the 24.5 minute mark when you said "you're not even looking" I was playing on my phone and not watching the video and I was like "is this dude calling me out??" Lol
What until he asks you to "grab the other side" and you reach for the screen ; )
I love the way that Onan idles. One of the nicest lopes I’ve heard on a John Deere
covered bridge footage worth a million bucks. thanks for the vid
Im loving this old JD tractor, I've never seen one before and didn't know you could get all these features in a yard-sized tractor. So carry on mustie! Let's get some more of this green beast!
JD has always made two lines of equipment. The really pricey "good stuff" (like this one) that's in the $8000-$10000 range, and the line just like all the other crap tractors out there made with light-weight junk and sold to unsuspecting folks at HD or Lowes. Doesn't last a bit longer than MTD...
You’ve probably never seen any of the 400 series tractors either then. My 425 has a water cooled Kawasaki V-twin, with power steering, diff lock, dual circuit hydraulics, optional Cat 1 3-point hitch, optional 540 PTO, and shaft driven mower deck. The 445 was the same, but came with EFI and a couple more HP. The big boy was the 455 with a Yanmar diesel. Basically they were what would be considered a sub-compact tractor today.
I've never seen an easy out twist that much, man you got so lucky! good video
1:07:38 I had my safety squints engaged!
I really thought that sucker was gonna break and you got soo lucky! LOL
These video's are better then watching Netflix movies
It's taken me a few videos as a tinkerer tends to scheme and plot while engaging all the cogs, even after youtubing has commenced, but I've come to realize why your mannerisms of engagement with your audience works so well. We are the dog in this scenario. You speak to us, ask for comment and consideration, we get to go on adventures with you, and it drives the same level of excitement as one might imagine 'man's best friend' would experience.
I am okay with this arrangement. 👍
I love your "Resurrection" videos! "Will It Run?" Keep 'em coming!
You took that hydraulic failure really well, I wouldn't have been so calm about that 🤣
The poor baby had an accident. Atleast it wasn't on the new carpet. Bad tractor, Bad!
Off camera he was probably swearing up a storm!
@@marlinezell639 I'd swear up a storm too. When it's a hobby and you're passionate about it... I mean look at that big grin when he used the bolt extractor. That's a relief, and every relief needs a pain ;P
By the time I start on my 316 I will be able to over come any obstacle.
Thanks Mustie.
The new seat is sweet!
Put some durable foam, or a couple rubber bushings under that seat to smooth the ride and prevent problems later on. On that cylinder, it appears it should have been reversed end to end..think about it, it still expands or contracts no matter which end is where, and it looks like someone mounted it backwards, the 90' should be coming out the front instead of the back, and why a hose was to long as well. But it's coming along well, and w/that fancy paint job and all, may have gotten a couple new valves for it, rather than straightening out those old ones.
I have the same tractor and same blade, and at the moment I’m working on hydraulic quick connectors on the tractor they are rusted . I did changed the o rings on it. If you do work on hydraulic system on the machine please post in a video. Thanks again mustie1. Until next week!
Post an image link so he can see how to mount the lift cylinder. tyvm.
Thank you for sharing. I truly enjoy your videos
Thanks for the VIDEO, looking forward to the next one!!
'morning Mustie1. I'm sitting here with my coffee just waiting for you to pop up! Another one of your videos I'm sure I'll enjoy. Thanks in advance! Steve in RI.
Mornin Steve! From a fellow Rhode Islander who also wakes up to Mustie Sunday morning vids.
1hr 10mins and 30 seconds of pure therapy
oh man that sound of rain is nice melody and thunder storm a like it and you working in nice project all you needed there was an extra large coffee. Mustie you always do a good job and good quality videos thank you, blessings to you, from thunder bay
Nice work Mustie1! Great side commentary also! You crack me up!
Yep love the way Mustie asks the viewer for advice and assistance during the video 👍
It's really looking good mustie. There will always be set backs. Thanks for sharing my friend 😇
Great video and videos. I’ve been off with carpal tunnel surgery from working on stuff all these years. And it’s great sitting here watching your videos to get me thru the day! Keep it up! You’re one of the best!
M Car I’m right there with ya. I used to be in industrial controls until I sustained so much permanent nerve damage that it’s hard to turn a screwdriver. Can still hold an impact driver though!
Peter G. It’s tough when your hands don’t work to well man.
My carpel tunnels gave me neuropathy.
Mustie and coffee best sunday ever
Love those New England covered bridges. Love the tractor-fun to watch.
I did a similar project on an old case/ ingersoll 444. Gotta love the classic garden tractors no matter the color.
It does feel good when the easy-out works!
the best feeling ever.
Never too soon to get ready for snow removal! Thanxz
Mustie1, you stole that John Deere!! That machine today would be $5 grand or more with the hydraulics and all. Nice score. Love your vids and your students are very lucky! You remind me of my high school shop teacher Mr. Veshoor! Taught me everything I know about small engine repair and auto repair!
oops on the fitting but darn do I love that bridge! such a beauty!
Great video as usual! A trick I always use for persuading rubber hoses that are being stubborn is have a cup of hot water, dip the end in and leave it to dwell for 20 seconds and it pops straight on it also holds better.
Thanks for letting us hag out with you love Lilly.
it's a service dog, it helps to remove anxiety and you stayed so cool under all that stress
The two rams on that pusher thing are fitted wrong place...
Swap em over...🇬🇧👍
Ahhhh the satisfaction of a successful easy out operation.
Great video as usual, love this john deere series.
Great repairs..
Come home from a night shift.
Brew some coffee and sit down too a nice long video.
Can’t go wrong with that.
But let’s get real here.
Nice new looking paint job on the old John Deer 🦌
And a pretty new seat.
I’d say the snow blade definitely deserves a restoration aswell.
Anyone agree with me ❓
Mustie you are awesome...love this series on the John Deere
I'm glad Lily was able to pop in and provide some assistance! Sometime you just need an extra paw!
Always good with the added Lily to supervise.
What! No bar and chain oil on the bottom of the rear tin? Nice job and great find. Love your channel.
It's better that the fitting failed on a test run in the shop rather than during use in the snow! Always a great feeling when the easy-out works
Trick for you Mustie... When trying to put rubber hose on metal, put a little spit on the rubber end first.. It will slide right on. Military taught us that trick.
24:46 lol "you're not even looking" classic!!
Sunday Morning MUST!!! GD I love this guy. I Know your my uncle.. =)
The John Deere video is one of your best, great job again, take care mate!!!
PSSSSSSSSSST!!!!! A LITTLE BIT OF PB BLASTER INSTEAD OF THAT WD40 CLEANER !!!!!!! YOU WOULD BE AMAZED!!!!!
The filter is also a "clunk", that is, a heavy end to a flexible fuel line that will always move around to the lowest gas even when the tank is un-level. We use those all the time in model aviation. They call them clunks because that's literally the sound they make when you shake the tank. The fuel can be picked up even when the plane is flying inverted.
Yay!!!!! Good sunday today !!!
Great job as always, I just can't believe that Chris Fix has over 5 million subs and guys like you and South Main Auto and Jonathan W. do not!
It used to be " Click and Clack" the Tappet Brothers" on NPR, now it's Mustie1 on UA-cam this Sunday Morning. Life doesn't get much better!
l miss that show
Quality not quantity on all...., Love the typed in comments on the video. Icing on the cake!
That looks like a different machine now, very fresh :-D
Hopefully you are still enjoying your new place darren, dispite being cooked by the weather.
Loverly job :-D
dont stop your good work so we can learn from it thank you
My Dad taught me a trick long ago. If you’re having trouble getting a fuel line to fit through a hole in a plastic tank or on a fitting, add a drop of dish washing soap to it. It’s as slick as oil, but will dry up where .as oil will not. Works great!
That Easyout removal was VERY lucky, that would not have worked for me...
Same here! It would have snapped like a carrot, making the job even harder still - Some folk have all the luck..... 🙏🏻
I just lost the nozzle from one of those pain in the keester fuel cans. You have to put down pressure on it for fuel to flow....slowly...then it popped off the edge and got lodged in the can. Ripped it off trying to remove it from the tank. Now the nozzle is somewhere in the bottom of the fuel tank. Tried in vain to fish it out. It can live there...
Mate, you are so lucky when you get to those problems. And the hydraulic screw at the end, what luck. Yes, enjoyed the journey.
The Florida pool pump motor repair guy approved ! that was good info
I was waiting for this one!
Was waiting for this for a week!!!
@@estonianperson1112 i was waiting for two weeks
I was waiting for 3 weeks
Good stuff.....as always. Even the end of your video.......just like a box of chocolates.
...isn't that sweet(?)
Great Video Mustie. Can't wait to see it plowing snow!
Silicone spray lubricant! Makes rubber slippery without damage.
Also restores the rubber's rubberiness and gives it a few months away from turning into a biscuit!
Rubbing Alcohol works well also when fitting rubber seals or gourmets…
I hope you take the time to repaint the snow plow
thanks for taking us along - really like this john deere series - love the covered bridge
It takes a special touch with an easy out!! Nice job!!
they make special rubber fuel line designed to be submerged in the fuel called submersible fuel line. regular fuel line will deteriorate prematurely
If you rotate the elbow coupling on the hydraulic cylinder 90 degrees clockwise it would probably clear the frame.
180 the cylinder
...IT'S WORTH A TRY-!
@ ZZtop 1700 That is what I kept yelling at my computer screen!!! ;-)
@@MikeyMack303...did it do any good?
@@daleburrell6273 As a matter of fact...........Yes, it did!!!
You lucked out with that easy out. Great job getting this unit working again.
Bummer. Shit happens. Fixable.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks Mustie1 been waiting for a week! I’m pumped to see this video!
