Will It Run? Cheap Garage Sale Pressure Washer
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 сер 2024
- l picked up this commercial pressure washer at a garage sale in New Jersey while on vacation, it was as is for $75, so lets get into it and see if it can be fixed.
Mustie, that was the funniest thing I've seen for years, when everything was spraying water out. Just be careful on the old girl (carmen ghia) don't want to blow all the bondo off 🤣
And you still have the bucket truck lol. Great video sir. I have, and continue to learn so much from you. I picked up a discarded Stihl trimmer at the dump and was able to repair it per the confidence youve given me. Thank you.
Excellent score Mustie! A $2500.00 machine fixed for under $200.00, and a machine that will come in super handy for future projects and around the house. Definitely a keeper :D
Brave man pointing that at the bucket truck... half expected it to shatter!
$75 for that unit is a steal.
OK< From NJ, Mustie must need a PERMIT to transfer GRAGE SALE ITEMS from NJ to NH, wonder if they got him at the border or he snuck it across? ................Everywhere you turn in this state of NJ they are looking for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.....
What about the $200 Ford.
indeed!
Steeve Rioux I
+53 more for new connector and tips. = $128$. still good catch.
Used to use those before painting houses. If you put the zero tip in the gun, you can write your name in the asphalt of your driveway.
yep, we got one built with 10hp 600v electric motor and a general pump. It cut a 2x4 in half
lol holy shit no wonder why it says to not aim it at someone. blow the pelt right off them
it would bloody kill them.
That's what I like about this channel! Mustie 1 shows you the mishaps as well as the good things whereas a lot of people would have edited the leaks out & re-shot it. That's a great bit o kit.
I'VE BEEN WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS FOR A WHILE NOW. AND I HAVE TO SAY THANK YOU, I RUN A SMALL LANDSCAPEING BUSINESS AND YOUR VIDEOS HAVE HELPED ME GET IN THERE AND FIX MY OWN EQUIPMENT. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE KNOWLEDGE, KEEP THEM COMING.
I found it online for 2499.99! so you got a great deal man!! Great video man!
He got a hell of a deal he put a lot of time into it but he has a powerful pressure washer
@Boss Günter He can upgrade it any time, got many engines ready to fly
We got a working huge 30hp pressure washer in good working condition for £400
Its ok you can say 2.500.
She's an expensive one new. You got a good find there, just needs some new parts that I see you're unpacking as I'm leaving this comment... lol. Always entertaining and educational Mustie (Darren). Thanks again. You are THE man!
I was today years old when I learned about the half inch extension for the oil drain... No more fighting with wrenches.... Thanks Mustie1!
Your explanations are super and the graphics are great. Also I like your laughing at things. Keep them coming. I look forward to every one. Can't wait till it warms up enough so I can try fixing up stuff.
Mustie1 videos and coffee on the deck on a beautiful spring morning. Life is good.
Yup, me too. Cheers !
There was a time when every small town had a Mustie1. The man who could fix anything. Another great video!
some still do. im one of those fellas
@@tailsdollblack9340 That's great to hear. Hope you are always busy.
Amen, we had one in my neighborhood growing up in the 70's , he repaired all of our cars and installed everybody's car stereos/speakers....he was retired Army and we paid him in beer & he loved bbq ribs. Best friend ever is a shade tree mechanic
well tomorrow iam gonna get cheap old engine and gonna make it run
Mustie1 fix a rainy day!~ LOL!
Thank you so much for posting your videos! Your tutelage in carburetors is second to none!
Love your videos man. Your in passion with what make you happy. I did what you do as a kid and there is nothing better than hearing the motor run for the first time. I have grown and work on diesel engines now. But you have sparked my interest to start building small engines for my community. Michigan checking in!!!!!
I feel like an apprentice learning a new piece of equipment and I Thoroughly enjoy all your videos and how you narrate them and include the viewer by asking them questions as if they were with you. I have learned more in the short time I started watching your videos and has saved me countless hours of frustration.
Good on you brother and keep them coming.
"1st thing to be cleaned is itself". Mustie1's law.
Great to see you're on the cheap engines again! Greetings from Chile!
" it's always the carburetor."
@@navigatorx1013 "Let's see if it got spark"
Oh yeah.....!! @@BernoSour
Great job getting the pressure washer back to working condition. I enjoy your videos and have picked up some good knowledge with them. Thanks for taking the time to film and sharing some great tips! It is appreciated...
I used to have an 11 horse Honda pressure washer years ago. My friends sure loved me for it! You’ll love this unit. All the power you need.
Call it "The Beast". great find. Fantastic price. Good job.
Suggestion: when using a file on a lathe, please put a handle on the thing. It's way too easy to inject that tang into the palm of your hand and up your wrist, which can be uncomfortable.
“can be uncomfortable”
I second that!
I don't know if I should love you or hate you. This video inspired me to repair my pressure washer that has been setting for three years. I am down to the stopped up nozzle! Thanks for the inspiration... I think...
Best laugh I've had in a long time!!!! This was one of your finest. Thanks for making my week. I have to go clean my eyeball off. Take care.
Smashing repair mustie :-D
Now that is a good tool, worth keeping.
I've been watching you for quite some time, and I can't decide if you've huffed too much paint in your day or you just allow for some comic relief.. Either way you crack me up man. You always have a comeback for what these machines throw at you. Kudos to you for doing what you love, sharing it with the world and receiving so much return on it.
I like your humor, explanations, and talking to/with your audience. I recently came across your channel and enjoy your videos even though I’m an IT consultant and not particularly mechanically inclined.
Good for you Musti 1 , only goes to show , we're all out there giving love back to old machinery , well done .
I would love to see you work on that bucket truck. That would make for a great playlist. It sure could use the love.

It sure COULD DO WITH some love.
Too funny! The correct male quick connect costs $3 at your local hardware or big box store. Your New England frugality is to be admired, I guess. You’re the best.
Yeah Wayne, and I laughed too at 33:17 when he said "That was easy" It must have taken Mustie1 a good hour plus, to make all those connections. LOL
I wish I could have learned these things 50 years ago ! Anyway , I know them now and am thankful you're teaching others . You are special for givin' the damn .
I come back just to watch you work and laugh! One of the very best on YT!
I love these long vids, please keep doing them.
The part you thought has a stack of washers is called the "unloader" and that sets your running pressure. Since it bogs you might want to loosen it off about 1/4 turn. They came with a hand grip on the unloader when they were new, well most did, that was why, different tip different pressure. FYI
Most pressure washers can trace a lot of problems down to that damn u loader sticking, seizing up. You're right, I just tighten/loosen mine a few turns and it works fone. I always swear by usi g the pressure washer pump lube at the end of the season...it works too

Just discovered your channel. Love it. Really interesting stuff to watch. Really makes you think about how to figure out how stuff works without instructions. Keep it coming
Can't believe it. Just spent an hour watching this. And not a single minute boring.
A Mi-T-M, so a Mighty M? Should'a been in bed an hour ago, but I couldn't resist a 'Will it run?' video! An impromptu fleet-wash, nice!
HI Darin, as always a great Job !
cheers from Germany
Very nice work. Getting that mixture right under load makes it all good. I love how you save things people won't fix.
Woohoo! A one hour + Mustie1 video. Im a happy camper. I like to tinker and i know my way around a tool box but what you do is amazing!
You must drink some THICK coffee, Mustie. I never needed a 20 ton jack to lift up my mug .
That's one of those fancy self-washing power washers!
... but then he disabled that feature with the new filter and hose.
also, camera-lens cleaner was engaged!!
Mustie, I really enjoy watching these repair videos, you definitely have the knack of bringing things back to life. I think it's great. I love watching you in the back to future films too when you built the delorean time machine. 😂
You make me want to go back to auctions again (I wish), I cannot however as I dont have a garage nor the tools, those days went years ago but I love watching you and your quotes
The old B&S Industrial/Commercial 11hp , sings a sweet tune
I love all your videos thank you.
Love your enthusiasm for gettin these forgotten about pieces of equipment goin again. That’s impressive to me you got that workin again. Nice stuff.

I just recently discovered your channel and can’t thank you enough for everything that I’ve learned. Please keep em coming.
At 11hp I could see that being used at a shipyard, knocking off barnacles from ship hulls. ;-)
That's a powerful machine far above homeowner grade.
Having been very closely associated with manufacture and testing of pressure washers, I can offer a bit of "inside" advice. First, on the quick connects...they will absolutely not interchange with pneumatic fittings. All of the larger consumer/light commercial (except electric portable models) pressure washers use the same size quick connects, and the standard threaded end is 3/8" NPT. the end you tried to remove from the hose no doubt was threaded on the hose end, just stubborn. Heat up the plastic collar with a heat gun, and it should slide off, so you can get a wrench on the hose end. The pumps will generally take a good bit of frost, as they're necessarily pretty robust. I noticed a supply of gaskets wired to one of the hoses, maybe that is a hint? The range of supplied tips also have quick connects, which are a different size. You have to skin the collar back to connect as well as disconnect the pressure connectors.
Mustie; please start buying the correct parts to fix these machines. I get trying to fix these machines with used parts you have on hand but to what end? A littler research wil tell you that Air and pressure washing connectors are not interchangeable. Once you jump the gun and pour 2 part fuel in everything; What do you do with the final half repaired product? Sorry but I'm done with these/your videos!
I've been battling cancer all winter & watching the videos you put out help curb the debilitating anxiety & panic attacks, the stress of the cancer treatment & I can occupy my mind so I feel better/forget it temporarily. May God Bless you Darrin (sp?).
l feel for you al
Nice win! Thanks for bringing us along!
Pump oil 30 weight non-detergent only fill the pump a tad over the notch in the dip stick. Pump sounds healthy when you spun it over by hand. 4GPM @ 3000 PSI is a very nice unit nice score!
Water in is just a sediment bowl that has a 80 micron screen to clean.
ND 30 is what I run in my pumps. Never had a mech. problem. Cups and seals replaced, but mechanics have always been fine.
belt driven ones are better for the bigger pumps that way they dont mess the keyway up on the motor when flicking the handle on an off
Not the main reason why belt drives are better. They are better because you can run the pumps at a lower RPM so they dont wear as quickly but make the same amount of pressure as a comparable direct drive pump.
Looks like another fine update that defiantly got my thumbs up.! Thank you very much...!
Got a bath and it ain't even Saturday! Lol!! I so enjoy your videos, Sir! Thank you!
You laugh at things that would make me throw a hammer though a window
Must be how he stays sane (er). I've started trying to do that when things go sideways. It can't hurt.
I try to stay calm as well, but it depends on the other factors. Sometimes you can cause huge mess letting your emotions free :D
I'd laugh too if I only paid $75 for a MTM of that size. That's a real nice Gia you have there too.
Then you have a broken window. AND whatever you were fixing.
It took me only one windshield to figure that one out.
Joseph Aulbaugh Stay out of your way and get me handy
Once Mustie has worked his magic, a tweak here a tweak there etc the thing is working better than factory new ! ....would you buy a used car from this man ?...most definitely !
Oh how nice it is to get home after school and find out Mustie has pieced together a new masterpiece! congrats on gettin er runnin again
I should of been in bed 2 hours ago... cant stop watching these videos and i have never worked on any engine in my life :) Greetings from South Africa!
$2500 pressure washer it's a good size one. You got it running good mustie1
Car wash at Mustie1’s line em up! Hey at least it’s WARM enough to be out washing cars! 👍
Great money maker there! I bought one that size at an estate auction for a couple hundred and started using it for our business (property preservation) for mortgage companies, it quickly paid for itself and is a great $$$ producer.
Darren, for future reference, that sediment filter is plastic. We replaced ours at work with metal ones, and don't have leaks on them anymore. Your call on using pipe dope instead of teflon is spot on. The tape gets brittle over time and can separate inside of those fittings and get caught in the tip. Also a spinner or turbo tip is a good investment on cleaning. It gets under the dirt (and paint if one is not careful) faster.
I love the word wrench! Much better than Spanner.... do you have stillsons in the US or is it pipe wrench... an adjustable spanner is sometimes a shifter.... But as an apprentice we were banned from using shifters always the correct tool for the job.....
Daddy’s got a new toy. Everybody is getting a bath!!! 😂
"Honey why are you taking the fridge outside...."
Great video. I always learn so much watching your videos. This will be great for getting all the salt off the cars
Like the little trick of the trades and hints. Appreciate the fun videos 👍👍
Blown away on 1/2" extension trick. Where has my head been all this time?
Don't feel bad. I was surprised as well. So simple it's stupid... 👍 🇬🇧
Mustie, you can not make any more "Will it Run " Vids It should be"When will I make it run" ? Great stuff.
I like this idea. We could all make bets on the time (min:sec) it actually happens.
That handle connection tho.... lol! Cracking me up! Great job 👏
Love watching Mustie! He laughs when we'd be cursing our asses off.
Briggs IC engines always have a distinct smooth sound.
And still running strong - even with this goo as oil !

Awesome videos. I wish I knew engines like you. Very informative.
this gentleman is like the macgyver of carbureted engines.
I think the hose quick disconnect is a different style. If I remember there are two types,
Yes, and the smaller ones too.
man... GREAT FIND! I am so jealous. Been looking for a power washer.
Very nice pressure washer. Nice to see the bucket truck again. Hope to see it soon.
Tractor supply has the quick connection and guns fairly cheap

Awesome about the pressure washer and awesome that you mentioned finishing up the little Honda next.
Pronounced "Mighty Em." And yes, you have a very valuable pressure washer now.
Mustie1: OK, sweetie, we're going on vacation!
Mrs. Mustie1: Great! I'm very excited! Where are we going?
Mustie1: New Jersey.
Mrs. Mustie1: ...
Mrs. Mustie1: Just promise me you won't buy some piece of junk at a yard sale.
...what exit?
Love your videos ! Always learning something.
Mi T M still makes great machines. They used to put together models for retail in major paint stores with different engines and price points. Most of them would deliver around 4 gallons per minute. I bought one new in 1985 with an 11 or 13 hp Wisconsin Robin on it. After 20 years I put an electric start engine on it. I still have the machine and it runs well because it was never left in the rain and was never set up where it would get wet !! Rust in the gas tank once from condensation was the only issue ever !
Hope it starts there is lots of spring cleaning that needs to be done
Ye. (Spoilers but who cares anymore anyway? This is Mustie1 we're talking about) He not only got it running, but he also got it washing cars. Did 5 in 10 minutes.
.I say Mustie gets the BUCKET TRUCK out of HIBO and he uses it to clean the house, plusother projects.......................New sideline? MUSTIES MOBILE VW WASHING?
@@rawr51919 yeah, but the PW is MURDER on the CLEAR COATS and it loosens it and peels.............

Couldn't lose on that one. The Pulleys and belts were worth the $75.00.

Awesome that you showed how to release those pulley quick-disconnect bushings! I just happen to have bought a couple for work (first time using them) and I was wondering what the other tapped holes were for... I got me some edumacation tonight!
Thanks for another good video. I like a happy ending with good clean fun!
And now his water bill goes up a grand, but, everything is clean
What are you doing?!? You turned a perfectly good GAS POWERED SPRINKLER into a pressure washer.
Dang, I thought it was an industrial strength misting cooler...
Another job well done by the MASTER OF EVERYTHING !!! Love ya man....
Very good job again, i learn so much from this. thank you sir!
